The Cypress Hills Abbey is the final resting place of the one and only Mae West. West died in 1980 at the age of 87. Wset was laid to rest in her family plot in the Abbey. The plot was purchased in 1930 after her mother's death. Her siblings and parents are laid to rest in the abbey as well.
Her carrier lasted 7 decades and was filled with controversy and censorship. When it came to censorship of her work West said. "I'm a big believer in censorship, I made a fortune out of it."
