    If i had an oil level that was slightly over, away from a garage, i would dip the dip stick and wipe it on a cloth, as many times as needed to lower the oil level slightly, to the right level. It wouldn't take much time at all to do and you wouldn't need any tools to do it.

    My wife and I spent a week in Ullapool last July and used it as a base and found some fabulous places, great beaches, fantastic forest walks. Of course we visited a number of times the Seafood Shack you missed a real treat there . Great Video

    Great video. I'm just back from 3 weeks touring the Highlands and islands in my T6.1 Cali Ocean. I stayed on the same campsite in Lewis (also for 3 nights) on the pitch next to you! I enjoyed it so much I've already booked to go back next year and stay a while longer. I particularly enjoyed Harris so I'm looking forward to the next episode. Keep up the good work.

      If you have a look at the video description the campsite is in there with a link to it. Not near a beach though ! Harris however, was ON the beach pretty much !

      Dunvegan Castle skye is worth a visit it has lovely gardens and I think they do trips in a boat to watch wild seals but" I think it's closed until further notice not sure why but our prime minister is currently updating our social distancing policies so this may have an impact on your visits.

    I just noticed in the background, while doing you toasties, your dash screen had an image on it. Please do a video on the dash and screens as I am sure you two know all the tricks and tips. Our Cali arrives in 6 weeks, so all your videos are amazing for us. Thank you.

    Hello, interesting video, came here via the California Owner's Club website and talk of isotops etc. Did you book the ferry in advance or just turn up and did you have to book a campsite on the islands in advance? We have done the NC500 twice and are now looking to doing the islands. You don't need to butter the outside of you bread for a toastie. Not been stopped by the police for your number plate yet? Thank you

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, we booked everything in advance as much as we could. We heard many news stories of queues at the ports waiting for ferries being banned and people either not being able to get to the islands or get back to the mainland. Whether that was a Covid ‘thing’ with many more people trying to holiday there, causing problems! All of the campsites were full, probably for the same reason, so we booked as much as we could.

    Another dumb question from your newbie susbriber🙄 Do you take the gas bottle out of the van to then use the cadac outside?

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We don't, because we carry a spare 907 bottle with us. That means that if the main van one runs out we can use the spare, but also in normal times, we have the spare 907 to use with the cadac. We don't tend to use the cadac all that much so it doesn't drain much out of our spare cylinder.

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh - and there are no dumb questions!

    • @andyblake1849
      @andyblake1849 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CampervanTime Thankyou. How long would you expect the 907 to last ( piece of string, I know) Tea making & very occasional cooking

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, our last 907 lasted us about 18 months (the van one, not the spare). As you say though, really does depend on how much you use it.

    We’ve had exactly the same oil warning light issue on our new California Coast, which we got at the end of July. Warning light came on after around 900 miles. Had VW assist out, and followed up with a trip to our VW Van Centre for full investigation. They told us (in our case at least) it is a software issue which has affected a number of vehicles and that they are awaiting a software update to fix. Meanwhile, although the warning comes on every few hundred miles, it’s totally safe to drive. Sounds like it could be the same issue you’re having.

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I expect so, I have a lot more info on all of this and will be doing a video all about it, and how we “solved” it at home in the end. It’s a problem that affects a lot of VW group diesels and the new T6.1 especially.

    • @housesittersmelandchrisuk1899
      @housesittersmelandchrisuk1899 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CampervanTime thanks, will be interesting to see the video and hear more about what you’ve found. (One thing we discovered is that popping the bonnet clears the warning light for a hundred miles or so, but it does keep reoccurring).

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does (it’s 100km or 62 miles) but the main issue is the way that the level sensor reads the level and how it needs to see a significant enough change to cancel the reoccurring light etc. We’re still finalising our testing but will publish it all up soon 👍

    • @deanbird953
      @deanbird953 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I wouldn't put your registration number on display on here. You are running the risk of getting cloned and then getting parking tickets, clean air zone fines, speeding fines etc. etc.etc. in your name and having to prove your innocence. It happened to an EV presenter, Johnerthan Porterfield on TH-cam and he regretted it, it causes oodles of hassle and anxiety, don't become the next victim.
