Tip for AM4 users: if you plan to install it without removing the motherboard, don’t unscrew both plastic holders all at once, if you do it will drop your backplate and you will have to remove the motherboard and put the backplate on before able to install the plastic+metal screws from the new cooler.

Just installed this cooler as part of my first build and wow, I underestimated the amount of pressure needed to get those last two screws in! Kept turning the screwdriver and never feeling it "bite" because I was afraid to use too much pressure and risk breaking something. Rewatched this video a dozen times at the table while trying to figure out what I was doing wrong, haha. Thanks so much for this, it really helped me out.

My two cents from my build using this exact cooler, it's a good idea to plug your CPU cable from your PSU into your mobo before installing this cooler. I neglected to do this had an enormous amount of trouble getting my CPU power cable plugged into my mobo and instead of removing the cooler, I opted into buying a pair of needle nose plyers.

I found the connector would not reach down to the upwards screws due to the springs being ridiculously strong. I had to take off the retention flange at the bottom and remove the pin/spring/washer in order to squeeze the springs a couple of times with a monkey wrench so that they would spring sufficiently. Once I did that it fit just fine. Many curse words were utilized while I tried to work out this solution.

I'm still debating if I should get this cooler for my 3950x. It is cooled by the Snowman mt-6, but when temps will get hotter, it may not be sufficient enough as it is a single tower. The 4 cores over the 5900x, also cooled by a mt-6, really make a diffference in heat output. As of now, the 5900x is still below the 90 degrees, but the 3950x stay close to the 90, sometime more or less by a few degrees. As per AMD, the max temp is 95 before the cpu start to protect itself and since the computer is stable, I'm not too worried. But with summer coming fast over here, that might be another story!
