Thanks for the rundown Phil, Alchris Audio is Alan Clark, risen from the ashes of Kralk. He makes wonderful speakers at a ludicrously fair price, well worth checking out.

Hi Phil good review of the show & I loved when you said the speakers were good value at £6000 I nearly chocked on my cuppa lol.

Not many floorstanders at that price. Drive units are the most expensive part. What about ones in the £100,000+ price range?

Pearl Acoustics were running a Rega Planar 10 with a Rega Aria Mk3 Phono Stage. You missed one of the few rooms playing anything one could consider to be Music.
You also missed, or perhaps were not interested in the items, but in the Doug Brady Room they had the forthcoming Quad Platina, the Audiolab 9000 Streamer and the Warfdale Dovedale. The Quad and the Dovedales in particular, were worth investigating and personally, I look forward to seeing more of the Quads when they come to market around October.

Good to see you at the show. I kept getting lost in spite of having a map. I can totally relate, it was very confusing. I think you forgot to mention Puritan Audio, love their products. I know what you mean about it being impossible to make good judgements of gear at a show. At best you get a few pointers but better still a chance to talk to people.

The JBL speakers in Doug Brady's I think where the new mark 2 versions of the L 82 and L 100, they are around £ 2000 and £4000 respectively ,the first version has been around 3 or 4 years, i think Doug had the Rega 50th turntable on display as well.

Great review thanks. I went for my first time as I now live too far from Bristol and had a great time though its a shame that so many rooms play one-dimensional 'hifi' music that doesn't really give you much impression of what they will sound like in the real world. I am also not a fan of Kef but their active LR60s were the product of the show for me closely followed, as always by the Neat offerings. Some of the worst things I heard were electrostatic. I did look out for you on Saturday but, as you say, it was busy. I liked the venue but the food offering was restricted and overpriced.
