These films were ( and ARE) fantastic! They were simply enjoyable. That's something that modern films seem to have forgotten

Watched a bunch of these on afternoons and Saturdays I was happy to find them on DVD packs when they were public domain.

It was fun times at the matinee back then. All fun little films. Seen them all. Favourites of the 50s and 60s. So many to list. However these make up part of my list as I have then on dvd or Blueray. The Thing, Them, Tarantula, It Came From Beneath The Sea, Godzilla, 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, The Creature, Quatermass Films, Earth vs. The Flying Saucers, X The Unknown, The Mysterians, The Blob, Fiend Without A Face, Dinosaurus, The Time Machine, Mysterious Island, King Kong vs. Godzilla, Day of The Triffids, Village of the Damned, Robinson Crusoe on Mars, 2001, Captain Nemo, Gwangi.
    .
Even the real low-low-low budget films still have a charm about them.

I watched these on late night, television, or weekend afternoons on the local TV stations. It’s always fun to see these and interact with people that enjoyed them as I did when we were younger

    The alien strolling by! Hilarious!
I always considered 1950s scifi films horribly outdated in special effects, acting and, particularly, fashion and hairstyles. I now realize that this is the charm of these movies...

Beyond The Time Barrier was filmed at night in some futuristic pavilions set up at the Texas State Fair that year. This gives the film a far more elaborate look than they could have otherwise afforded on their budget!

Lois Maxwell (Satellite in the Sky #2) famously went on to become ‘Miss Moneypenny’ in the classic Bond movies of the Sean Connery and Roger Moore era - always almost, but never quite…

Love Ulmer's films. The Man From Planet X is a great film! Nice video, thanks.

These sci fi movies filled my teenage years with wonder & inspiration. Whenever one was out, I’d be sure to see them in the movie theatre.

    • @paulauerbach2874
      @paulauerbach2874 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

That’s right! There was nothing like seeing them first run in the movie theatre. There were usually two sci fi movies paired together. Or maybe one of double-feature was a supernatural story. There was nothing quite like them before or after. I was a teenage monster movie addict!

The standard “space girl” outfit is sort of what a cocktail waitress wore back then! The skirt is short long before mini-skirts came around. 🎉🎉🎉😮😮😮😊😊😊

And, several years later, Lois Maxwell would achieve her greatest claim to fame: being the original Moneypenny in the James Bond films

I always get a kick out of these types of sci-fi movies! Even though made in the 50s and 60s it seems the producers and writers had no concept of basic scientific knowledge! LOL! Thank you for the fun video. I really enjoyed it! 🙂

"The Angry Red Planet" scared the bejeezus out of me in the late 50s. Funny that none of these rang a bell at all, considering we went to a scifi/horror double feature every Saturday. For a quarter apiece.

I remember a film must be over 40 years ago. A man in a hospital bed is talking to Aomeba type transparent aliens. He has a light next to the bed and they are reflected onto the hospital ward wall. He is talking to them and they ask him to join them. Next minute the nurse comes in and knocks the light out of the way. He then has an operation on his ears so contact is lost, he then goes back to his wife. Never seen the film movie or short series since would really like to know what it was. The aliens looked so alien but spoke english. Not sure if it was from the 1950s or 1960s. Black and white or colour

I love your videos! I like how you give the basic plot of the movie and not the entire thing. They are like mini-trailers! Not sure if you covered these favourites of mine: Wizard of Mars (aka Horrors of the Red Planet) (1965) and Robinson Crusoe on Mars (1964). The latter I saw in the theatre. Good times.

I've seen all of these wonderfully entertaining films save one. I've yet to see Flight to Mars so I'll have to check that out very soon if for no other reason than to watch everybody's favourite Sci-Fi character actor, Morris Ankrum. It seems he was in every other Sci-Fi movie back in the day. Cheers from Ontario, Canada!

Yes! I’m another big fan of Morris Ankrum. He was always an army general or some other kind of officer.

Satellite In The Sky was another crummy Roger Corman film. Most of his movies were low budget adventures and were pretty funny. Oops! There goes another empty popcorn box hurled at the screen. I always felt bad for the janitor who had pick up all those popcorn boxes near the screen after Saturday afternoon kiddie matinees. The only good part of The Phantom Planet was when the astronaut was reduced to a small puny guy. That was impressive! The rest of the movie? Not so much. Anyway, most of the sci-fi movies back then were pretty bad but for a 10 year old kid in the 1950's they were a lot of fun.

When I saw Beyond the Time Barrier, I knew, even when I was a little kid, that the footage of the "mutant dungeon" wasn't quite right -- that it must have been taken from some other movie. It took me a long time to find out where it actually came from -- it was taken from a Fritz Lang two-part movie - The Tiger of Eschnapur and The Indian Tomb (combined for an American release into the single movie -Journey to the Lost City) -- it features a scene in which the hero is thrown into a dungeon full of lepers -- who are subsequently freed during a rather terrifying sequence. It was that sequence, recut and transferred from color to B&W that formed the basis for the futuristic mutant sequence in Beyond the Time Barrier.

Richard Devon, one of the best of the bad men, and best of Hollywood husbands, married to the same gal for 50 years, a rarity in that industry. ☺ Some guys are happy just to do an honest day's work and come home to family and wouldn't read anything more into the profession like the "with benefits" thing.
