      Dale Calhoun, well said! I totally agree! I've seen them many times and they simply play their songs. No weird antics on stage or anything like that. They are engaging on stage, but they don't try and be comedians like a lot of performers try to be. Los Lonely Boys stick with being who they are. Professional musicians.

    Love these gear videos, thanks PG! Especially love it when they are honest & passionate and say what they heck they stand for. Like when he says, "I'm a strat guy" and I was inspired by Stevie Ray, or Chris Traynor says I'm a Les Paul guy or Mark Tremonti says I'm a PRS guy. Hate the ones like Devo where they think it's some kind of trade secret. It's just music. Saw these guys a few years back and it was great, fantastic tones. Thanks for sharing, really enjoyed it.

  • @alexcorona
    @alexcorona ปีที่แล้ว

    This guy is an honest player. He may not know that much "technical" stuff but that's not important. He plays and he sounds good and he knows what sound he wants. That's what I like.

  • @Veaseify
    @Veaseify 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    To a certain extent but a lot of players with 'special' tone have modded their amps/guitars to get what they wanted and no amount of practice will get you their sound without their gear. Nobody has ever made a strat sound like Ritchie Blackmore for instance (mostly because he had it running through a cheap tape recorder) and if you want to sound EXACTLY like Van Halen on the first two albums you have to have the original Frankenstrat and a1959 Marshall with a Variac installed.

    • @nebulae87

      @thesetubesareglowing 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    yeah that was the only part I had a problem with too Bert. He said give credit where credit is due. I give credit to Henry for getting to be where he is now on guitar playing. Beside it's the only time I can feel like I am worth something, knowing I put in the time and effort, and not say it was given to me at birth.

  • @ARTPAINTING101
    @ARTPAINTING101 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    You have to love a rock star that uses three pedals and a couple of amps. He gets his tone from his playing and the Fender Strat. Keith Richards would approve another rock star who eschews the pedal/rack toys in order to get great tone

    That's right Brother, Give credit where credit is due The good Lord. God Bless.
    Great music.

  • @Veaseify
    @Veaseify 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think its because theres a very narrow definition of what a 'good' tone is, for blues rock stuff its either the SRV strat/super reverb/tubescreamer sound or Bonamassa's Les Paul/boutique amp/fuzzface or porkloin. For metal stuff people still want the Metallica Black Album or Pantera Vulgar Display of Power sound. Guitarists like Dan Auerbach or the Edge have sounds that apparently nobody wants to copy but they are massively successful, same thing with Matt Bellamy from Muse.

    There it is!!! The secret to good tone. If you notice, he doesn't have a huge pedal board or racks of effects. Just a guitar, a couple of essential effects, and run it into a quality tube amp. A "meat and potatoes" kind of player, you gotta respect that.
