That is soooo true! I was looking for review videos about the Squier Bullet Strat I was considering to buy. Me as a beginner and to try to introduce my children to the guitar world, I wasn't looking for an expensive one. I found his video on his channel and boy oh boy, he smashed the hell out of that red bullet strat! Such nice rhythms and solos. Wow, I was like wow, wow wow. Almost went to the floor and bowed to him.
Lee Anderton is a really accomplished host. He's getting the best out of Dave but is at ease with Rob, Pete, Rabea and all his interview guests. To be like that on camera is a skill, not everyone is successful at it but the Captain puts everyone at ease and shows real interest in them. The glue that holds all of Andertons TV together but never the star, love his modesty.
Eyemaster is a song from Entombed Wolverine Blues Album, a swedish death metal band. Their guitar tone is almost synonymous with the Boss HM2, which is the sound that the TC Electronic - Eyemaster tries to achieve.
It’s a crap replica of the ‘Wolverine Blues’ guitar sound, yes. Not sure if they were still using the Boss MT2 by then, but I know they used on their debut, ‘Left Hand Path’. Nice try, but I’m not impressed by it.
Unless I’m mistaken, the Eyemaster pedal is supposed to emulate the “Chainsaw” Guitar Tone of the Swedish Death Metal scene, particularly that of the album Wolverine Blues by Entombed; there is actually a track on that album called “Eyemaster” and the font on the pedal face is similar to that on the cover of the album :)
You also get the Swedish Death Metal sound a'la Entombed with the Boss MT-2 (everything on full) and a Peavey Studio Pro 40 combo. That's what they used in the studio...

Glad to see Dave getting more exposure. I first saw him when the Katana's came out and he demonstrated it, i was so impressed that he could play so many different styles. A good player and guy that deserves more recognition.
Haha same here. I was contemplating getting one watched Dave’s video and brought a 50w. To this day still love that amp. I’ve got tube amps coming out me ears. But I still play the katana heaps. Low volumes and the fact I can pull every tone on earth out of it. Why wouldn’t you play it.

I’ve been having some pretty serious health issues, and was in the hospital for a week all through Christmas. When I got back home this past week It was so good to see Dave on Anderton’s tv again! That brought a smile to my face. I’m so incredibly happy for him getting the opportunities that he has to showcase his ability. Such an extremely talented musician, and a wonderful person. Hope to see many more videos with you two together. I’d love to see Dave and Bea’ do some jams together sometime. To everyone who makes these videos possible thank you, and I hope you all had a Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁
Honestly, huge fan of Dave and of course Andertons, but with Dave on, man, it's like you've struck that perfect equilibrium. He's a monstrous player and like all true bluesmen, a humble classy act. No arrogance or airs, has chosen music as his life. Keep him!!

Great work, Dave! The price of the Wah might frighten a really young lad or lass just getting their first pedals, but you've shown beyond any doubt that they really can get the tones they want on a budget they can afford. Mission accomplished, good sir.
I’d love to see Dave do a gigging rig for under £500, I think Andertons should revisit some of Lee and robs old challenges with Dave-Pete-Rabea 3 different styles so be a style for everyone
Kirk was one of the first guitarists that got me into heavy riffing so I'd say that this was a really good take on getting his tones, great job guys. I'd love to see one of these for David Gilmour (I can't remember if they've done one for Dave yet tbh), Daron Malakian of System of a Down, George Harrison (he did get a lot of cool guitar tones throughout The Beatles' career), Josh Homme or even someone like Adam Jones or Dan Auerbach
I absolutely LOVE that Dave is doing these videos! His and Lee’s chemistry is just as awesome as Lee and Pete and Rob! I personally love Kirk Hammett. He’s so humble and a genuinely nice person, and a very tasteful guitarist who has composed some of the most beautiful and iconic solos and he’s a major part of Metallica’s sound. And Dave did a great job here finding the sound and the playing at the end was genuinely epic! Can’t wait for the next episode. I hope there’s a Paul Kossoff episode because I know that both Dave and Lee love Koss and Kossoff deserves more recognition 🙏💙
I love these, but I wish Lee let Dave actually do the setup and fiddling. Over all the videos so far Lee has kind of pushed back on some of Dave's suggestions and he is always adjusting stuff for what he thinks it should be set to, which isn't supposedly the point of the video, it should be what Dave would do. Lee tends to listen with his eyes all the time.
There's the same tendency on Lee/Pete pedal vids, though the vids would be twice as long if Lee left Pete/Dave to play with their own knobs. They can't play guitar and twiddle knobs at the same time. Some of the full range sweeps are useful to hear.
As a beginner, on this show, I can learn about pedals. My first one was on Dave’s recommendation 🤟. I think soon going to have a new one :) You guys are amazing, thank you for this truly good knowledge.

I used to play a ton of Metallica stuff when I was younger and recently had the itch to play some of that again but my rig has changed so much that I didn’t have anything good for it. I literally got the Fangs in the mail yesterday after finding it on Ola’s Will It Chug series last week. Such a great pedal for the job.

Dave, I particularly enjoyed watching “the Captain meets dave Simpson” video. The honesty in which you described your mental health challenges in your past was inspiring and an example to all. So much so after watching, I instantly went of and grabbed my “classic vibe strat,” brushed of the dust and had a little jam. Music can save the soul and hopefully with the work of youtubers like yourselves doing these vids, let’s hope more people out there get as inspired to pick up any instrument and enjoy the music as you guys clearly do. I think the Tone City Model B might have been worth a shot for this video. It's basically an affordable Boogie in a box. I own one and think it sounds great.
Been following Dave since Old Hat guitars started supplying orange amps. His Cr120 series was mind blowing for me. Doesnt matter what equipment the guy has he always end up as close as possible to the desired sound. He was born to teach us how to get premium tone from budget gear.
Personally I would love to see a sound like Ritchie Blackmore. Not sure how much more he used than a Marshall amp cranked up and a Fender Strat, but hey, it's an idea.
i didnt know that before but Kirk got his own wah, he used a Dimebag's signature wah wich is very cheap naw days and it sounds exacly like on records im in love with one i got.
The most enjoyable series yet on Andertons! . Dave is an incredibly talented player and a joy hear. showing us how it's done. Could we please see the Captain and Pete also play along with Dave, I think that would make them the best videos on TH-cam. Thank you to all the team keep it up!
I miss Dave’s “Hello people of the tube” intro on these videos. This is a great way to create pedalboards. I love that Dave doesn’t follow the “you have to set up your board in this order”, do what sounds right for the tone your going for! Experiment with pedal order. Thanks for being so real Dave! Love it!
For Chorus I'd say the TC mini with the unfortunate name is the one to go for, it's what I use for Metallica cleans and it nails it on the stock patch. The bonus being you can load basically any chorus tone onto it too. For distortion, I actually preferred the Plexi pedal and I'd of liked to of heard it with the tube screamer. I use a Blackstar HT DistX pedal, they're not exactly cheap though but my mate uses the Mooer 008 pedal based on a Mesa mk3 and loves it. This is all slightly pointless when you consider what he's plugged into though, I imagine the Katana does distortion and clean chorus fine. Save your money on those pedals and get a wah and some EMG Pickups (81-60, KHBB), maybe the tube screamer.
I have been using my Boss Katana 100 for about 7 months, for the last few weeks I took off all my pedals except for my Katana-Air and my GAFC just to control my patches, I have been getting great tones for weeks with no extra pedals, I have a small collection including the OD-200 which does tube screamers and klon, blues, metal zone, etc and I have just left it sitting on the shelf. The Katana 100 is a great solid-state amp with plenty of built-in tones, I highly recommend them. I rarely use the app, but that adds a ton of options too.
The eye master is a Boss HM-2 clone. Used by Death Metal bands for the ‘Gothenburg’ tone. Eyemaster is a song from the seminal Wolverine Blues album by Entombed. They are even using the font from the album on the pedal.
Really enjoy Daves honesty you guys are doing great together it’s fun watching him have fun I even think that Lee is enjoy himself , We love the Danish Pete , and his purple guitar fetish, nice to. Mix it up .
Please can we see Dave given a random selection of really inexpensive pedals/amp/guitar and then be asked to make them sound like a randomly selected guitarist. The key being that Dave doesn't know who he has to sound like in advance :-) It would be fun to see how close he comes.
I really don't understand why the MetalZone has become such a meme. In the 90s it was the go-to thrash metal pedal, it was literally Metallica/Megadeth/Pantera in a box. Yes, it can sound amazingly crap, but if - with all those EQ options - you cannot find a tone on it that sounds alright, then probably it's your guitar playing.
The Golden Plexi is such a great sounding pedal, not quite right for this sound but it's definitely the best sounding overdrive out of all these. The TS mini is great for just tightening whatever sound you've currently got 👍
I actually thought the Golden Plexi was sounding the best for this. He was playing a pretty authentic sounding "Now that we're dead" riff with it. I think it just needed a bit more and I'd of liked to have heard it with the the TS in front of it actually
Kirk is the reason I play guitar today. When I listened to Call of Ktulu off the Ride The Lightning album it immediately became the heaviest song I had ever heard and the guitar work of both James and Kirk made me want a guitar. My dad took me to my local shop and told me that I could get whatever I wanted regardless of price, because I was going to make the monthly payments. He got the financing for me and that's it. Even though Kirk is The Man, I prefer his rhythm over his lead, even though I do love his lead. Like Eddie, the rhythm is where he shines.
@@sillyskeleton I got a Japanese made Squire Strat (this was 1986) with the HSS configuration, black body with black pick guard and a rosewood board into a Carvin 50w head with a Carvin 2x12 cab (they were a Carvin dealer)A Boss tuner and a Tube Screamer. That was it. I paid $900 for the whole rig and I remember my payments were $40/month. I actually made my own picks from a Linda Ronstadt album that my sister gave me. I cut them out with a soldering iron then used a file and sandpaper to finish the edges. That's the whole story.
Wow that was awesome! Dave is fantastic at covering these bands. I swear, that Enter Sandman solo at the end was spot on compared to the record. Definitely more videos with Dave!

I think the Tone City Model B might have been worth a shot for this video. It's basically an affordable Boogie in a box. I own one and think it sounds great.

Been following Dave since Old Hat guitars started supplying orange amps. His Cr120 series was mind blowing for me. Doesnt matter what equipment the guy has he always end up as close as possible to the desired sound.
He was born to teach us how to get premium tone from budget gear.
The Ibanez mini TS is one of ther best pedals I have ever know in 40 years as a player. Lovely pedal and great for stacking/boosting...

Personally I would love to see a sound like Ritchie Blackmore. Not sure how much more he used than a Marshall amp cranked up and a Fender Strat, but hey, it's an idea.

The eyemaster is for an entombed type swedish metal sound. The fangs is one of the most fun pedals I have ever owned and for £30 you just have to!

i didnt know that before but Kirk got his own wah, he used a Dimebag's signature wah wich is very cheap naw days and it sounds exacly like on records im in love with one i got.

I miss Dave’s “Hello people of the tube” intro on these videos. This is a great way to create pedalboards. I love that Dave doesn’t follow the “you have to set up your board in this order”, do what sounds right for the tone your going for! Experiment with pedal order. Thanks for being so real Dave! Love it!

For Chorus I'd say the TC mini with the unfortunate name is the one to go for, it's what I use for Metallica cleans and it nails it on the stock patch. The bonus being you can load basically any chorus tone onto it too.
For distortion, I actually preferred the Plexi pedal and I'd of liked to of heard it with the tube screamer. I use a Blackstar HT DistX pedal, they're not exactly cheap though but my mate uses the Mooer 008 pedal based on a Mesa mk3 and loves it.
This is all slightly pointless when you consider what he's plugged into though, I imagine the Katana does distortion and clean chorus fine. Save your money on those pedals and get a wah and some EMG Pickups (81-60, KHBB), maybe the tube screamer.

I have been using my Boss Katana 100 for about 7 months, for the last few weeks I took off all my pedals except for my Katana-Air and my GAFC just to control my patches, I have been getting great tones for weeks with no extra pedals, I have a small collection including the OD-200 which does tube screamers and klon, blues, metal zone, etc and I have just left it sitting on the shelf. The Katana 100 is a great solid-state amp with plenty of built-in tones, I highly recommend them. I rarely use the app, but that adds a ton of options too.
The eye master is a Boss HM-2 clone. Used by Death Metal bands for the ‘Gothenburg’ tone.
Eyemaster is a song from the seminal Wolverine Blues album by Entombed. They are even using the font from the album on the pedal.
I'd like to see an attempt to get the same sounds using the Katana's built-in effects. Katana has a built-in BOSS MT-2, chorus, delay, etc.

Please can we see Dave given a random selection of really inexpensive pedals/amp/guitar and then be asked to make them sound like a randomly selected guitarist. The key being that Dave doesn't know who he has to sound like in advance :-) It would be fun to see how close he comes.

I really don't understand why the MetalZone has become such a meme. In the 90s it was the go-to thrash metal pedal, it was literally Metallica/Megadeth/Pantera in a box. Yes, it can sound amazingly crap, but if - with all those EQ options - you cannot find a tone on it that sounds alright, then probably it's your guitar playing.
It's great that Dave and Andertons found their way together.
The Golden Plexi is such a great sounding pedal, not quite right for this sound but it's definitely the best sounding overdrive out of all these. The TS mini is great for just tightening whatever sound you've currently got 👍
I actually thought the Golden Plexi was sounding the best for this. He was playing a pretty authentic sounding "Now that we're dead" riff with it. I think it just needed a bit more and I'd of liked to have heard it with the the TS in front of it actually
Kirk is the reason I play guitar today. When I listened to Call of Ktulu off the Ride The Lightning album it immediately became the heaviest song I had ever heard and the guitar work of both James and Kirk made me want a guitar. My dad took me to my local shop and told me that I could get whatever I wanted regardless of price, because I was going to make the monthly payments. He got the financing for me and that's it. Even though Kirk is The Man, I prefer his rhythm over his lead, even though I do love his lead. Like Eddie, the rhythm is where he shines.
Ah yes, Call of Ktulu. Those riffs have been giving me goosebumps my whole life.

@@sillyskeleton I got a Japanese made Squire Strat (this was 1986) with the HSS configuration, black body with black pick guard and a rosewood board into a Carvin 50w head with a Carvin 2x12 cab (they were a Carvin dealer)A Boss tuner and a Tube Screamer. That was it. I paid $900 for the whole rig and I remember my payments were $40/month. I actually made my own picks from a Linda Ronstadt album that my sister gave me. I cut them out with a soldering iron then used a file and sandpaper to finish the edges. That's the whole story.
Wow that was awesome! Dave is fantastic at covering these bands. I swear, that Enter Sandman solo at the end was spot on compared to the record. Definitely more videos with Dave!
When you did all of them and hit the Eyemaster, the look on Dave's face was priceless.
