Hey doc there was a study done that showed people who kept their bp goals below 120/80 vs 140/90 had a 50percebt risk reduction in getting a second stroke I read it on a NIH website the study followed 1300 people who had true ICH and those who had a target of 120/80 had better outcomes than those who had a target of 140/90 in a 3 yr period . It's currently May 2023. I'm almost 70 and in the past 4 years I've hand two small subarachnoid hemorrhages and a stroke. I've been having stroke symptoms that my neurologist calls "nonspecific paroxysmal spells. When I finally called the advice nurse (this week) I refused to go to the ER. because last year they kept me twice (for a couple of days each time) but did not treat me. They just explained that I had small, yet significant, strokes. The symptoms remained for months. I had voice changes, face changes, arms, and legs were week and I didn't have control.Everything is back again. I was emailing my neurologist my alarming blood pressure numbers and I did go to the clinic for a BP check when told. But I refused to go to the ER. I have an MRI tomorrow. Also in the past couple of years I've found the term "leaky brain in my medical notes. The medical professionals who put these terms in my records need to explain what they mean.
In 2016 a friend said to me get a life insurance policy and sent a medical over blood pressure was 200over 150 He said if you were a friend of mines I would tell you to go to the emergency room
What about heart rate? My son is 30 yrs and had a stroke from a brain bleed. The cause they gave was uncontrolled hypertension. After 2 surgeries on his brain, one for the bleed and another for a shunt, they sent him home with no, information or follow-up on his blood pressure. I monitor it and I am concerned that his heart rate is in the hundreds, and his pressure is not normal, but not too high.He is not overweight but doesn't eat well or exercise . Any guidelines on heart rate numbers?

I have high blood pressure which caused my stroke as well of not taking care of self eventhiugh i am only 59 my reading was 200 over 150 hypertension

In late December '22 I had a BP of 109/73 when I had my hemorrhagic stroke in early December '16 my BP twas 212/98😳 taken by paramedics

Karen, I keep getting lightheadedness and dizziness 5 weeks post stroke! Nobody can give me answers please advise!
