    Short history on me
    I was diagnosed with ASD (Asperger’s Syndrome) when I was 26 years old, after experiencing life with Autism that was unknown to me for 26 years.
    Now I enjoy all things in life with my dog Randell and my girlfriend Naomi, we try and help and educate anyone and everyone on Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome however and wherever we can.

    I, too have Asperger's. I can't deal with strangers, especially when they used to sit next to me on buses (things I can no longer use as I don't feel confident on them).

    I have aspergers syndrome and am 14 years old. What i have learnt is if you try to control yourself, it takes time, but you can eventually go through with it. Somtimes when i get angry or upset, i scratch my head or hit the wall but thats as far as it goes. Ive learnt to control myself over the years, and its not that hard. Im at school regularly and i dont feel confortable there. Too many people, you know? Sometimes, i get really mad and frustrated without any reason, and it causes major outbursts. Neither my teacher nor my parents understand why. Ive tried to explain it, but they just dont get it. Life with aspergers is hard, and i feel the same way about it as you do...

    I'm an aspie too, and it was interesting to hear your quirks. Some are quite similar and some totally different from mine :) I can definitely relate to not wanting to be touched when frustrated or overwhelmed - I usually just need to be left alone to scream and have my meltdown. I also can't stand small talk or conversation without purpose. The thought of it drives me nuts! you should do a part 2! :)

    Your advice about breathing techniques has really helped me! When I noticed everything was pushing my buttons I started to focus on my breathing for a minute and I calmed down :) meditating also really helps me and I strongly advice it to others with aspergers. It can be really hard to clear your mind but you can train that!

    Big question: do you get physically/ emotionally affected by movies more intensely than others? Examples: suspense might make you anxious or excitement might make you feel like jumping for joy or bad guys make you angry?

    Definitly more videos on this haha.
    I surprisingly have a very high tolerance to most things, there is only really a few things that really get me annoyed or upset and that's food hygiene and cross contamination with food, I CANNOT deal with that in any way. And disease and illnesses. Anything to do with that just affects me straight away and causes horrible feelings and emotions. Although I am bad for getting annoyed when people do things that are simple wrong haha.

    Hello! Thank you very much for all of your videos - I have been finding them really helpful! I had a question (kept on popping into my mind while I was watching your videos) - you mentioned that you struggle with looking at people's faces. How do you find looking at the camera and how has that influenced how you take your videos? I was considering this because I struggle a little bit with eye contact and have been noting while watching your videos that I tend to look at the side of you instead of straight at you and so I thought about this (this is all a bit jumbled XD - but either way, it would be interesting to know why you choose to make your videos the way you make them? Thank you very much either way!)

    yes for a part 2. Interesting about the sneezing and hiccoughing. My husband hates certain noises too, he can't stand loud chewing noises/people who chew with their mouth open and the other day a lady in the waiting room at the car dealership was typing on her phone and it was making sound effects every time she would type and he got so bothered by it that he had to get up and walk outside because he really wanted to jerk it out of her hand and smash it into the wall..haha! My daughter who isn't diagnosed but has quite a few traits of Autism, has a thing with words, not so much words she hates, but words she loves- the other day it was chimichanga. She said it about 100 times that day, constantly repeating it and ending phrases with it, because she said it was a fun word to say and it made her feel happy. :) Good video, thanks

    I completely share your revulsion for chit chat and small talk. It's pointless, and I detest it. I also share the aversion to touch either from unfamiliar people or from familiar people when I get worked up about something. I have some significant sensory issues too. For work, I have turned the brightness on my computer monitors down to 5% of their total capacity to spare my eyes and keep headphones in listening to something to block external noise. Those have worked nicely for me in my environment. Nicely done! Keep up the great work.

      Small talk annoys me too. And I'm not an Aspie. But I am an ADD mom of 2 toddlers (1 of them an Aspie), so needless to say, my time is very valuable and small talk is such a waste (unless of course it's a relationship that you wish to build). Even then, I prefer to dive deep fast, but unfortunately that's not the "social norm".

    • @SvdByBdyPiercing
      @SvdByBdyPiercing 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Mattica Blue I have gotten scolded for either walking away, not engaging, or openly stating that I don't like small talk. Luckily, I have a very socially gregarious, non-Aspie partner who loves to handle this type of conversation for us and allows me either to retreat or to just be a silent observer until something interests me.

    I could not stand if people would complain about that life is not fair and why everything happens to me for what reason, which, in my opinion, is not for someone to state their life is more important than another and only deserves good and not bad. Life is not Disneyland and never will be.

    I don’t mind sitting next to people on busses but one time I fell asleep with a person next to me, I didn’t mean to, just nodded off. woke up and that person was still sitting there and loads of other seats were free around me, I think it was just me and that person on the bus. Checked my wallet and what not just in case, nothing stolen. Found it a little creepy to be honest.

    My son has many similar traits to someone with aspergers but was diagnosed with a learning disability, anxiety and ADHD. That aside, I found what you said interesting at the beginning when you were talking about eye contact and recognizing people because my son has the same problem and he was diagnosed with prosopagnosia. It is a facial recognition disorder. Have you heard of it? It's quite interesting from what I've learned so far. My son recognizes people from memorizing their hair, sound of voice, tattoos, stuff like that. If people change their hair colour or shave off a beard he doesn't immediately recognize them. Just wondered if that is a possibility with you?

I have anxiety and when I'm about to have a meltdown I clench my fingers up! I don't like talking to random people that's like I don't like going anywhere by myself plz do a part 2! Thx I'm not the only one that has these problems! Thx AspieWorld

    I find that I am more likely to recognize someone from a distance. Like their posture or how they walk. Maybe because I usually look at people peripherally. And I tend to get upset when I hear the words "squee" or "meh." Who knows why.

They, on the other hand, remember my name because my name is Dywayne Johnson, which is similar to "The Rock" which is easier for them to know that.

    I could not guess correctly of someone's age, and if I ask, they may not choose not to respond, inasmuch that they may find that as offensive. (I would not say that to women because they are quite sensitive to their age, compared to men).

    There are some people who's voice goes through me like a steel knife. I drive a lot for my job, and there's one call-in show host who pronounces the work "recognize" as "reckanize" Whenever he does this I find myself gripping the steering wheel and repeating "re-COG-nize, re-COG-nize". For some reason, mispronunciations really irk me.

    There are some words that are over or poorly used that irritate me like the word "devastated." People are rambling on about this or that happening, and then they were "just devastated." It makes me feel like I should develop a weapon called the Devastator and let them really have it. You think you are devastated now, watch this.
    Small talk often involves what the local sports teams are doing, which is something about which I could care less. Normally I mention that I don't really follow sports and when "the big game" is on TV, I find it is the best time to travel or conduct shopping because there are few people out and about. Of course I could spice the conversations up, "When the mindless masses are glued to their TV sets like crack addicts getting a fix, I am free to take advantage of the situation their diverted attention provides."

    • @kconger_
      @kconger_ 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Lewis Doherty If you don't mind my asking, does the unduly frequent usage of "like" as a vocal pause trouble you also? I find it does me very much so.

    • @lewisdoherty7621
      @lewisdoherty7621 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. The other frequently used vocal pause is "you know." Vocal pauses are indicative of the need to buy time because the speaker hasn't thought through the ideas in whatever he is saying. So the listener is being subjected to something that is rambling because the speaker doesn't know where he is going or if he does, how to get there. The vocal pauses are not only irritating themselves as a waste of time, but they are bound up with talking that isn't going anywhere. So they create negative feelings in two ways.
