I appreciate your considerate coverage of these events. I don't hike alone often, and it's always small trips, but it's a great reminder to be prepared, don't panic and always be extra cautious.
What a fighter, great to hear a survivor story sprinkled amongst the tragedies. A positive mental attitude will go a long way and for this guy it was the 17 longest days of his life.

Incredible man... at least someone knew that he went hiking .some people go into the woods and never tell anyone...this is never a good idea...thank God he made it...
My Dad was a police dog handler and much of his job was searching for people lost in the Canadian wilderness. As kids he drilled into our heads to “stay in one place if you are lost in the woods”. He explained how many times searcher’s can’t find people because they move around. He said people just get farther and farther away from help. Glad this man survived his ordeal. Bring the essentials, but stop as soon as you feel lost.
Harry Burleigh got it right. His life spirit and his ingenuity are examples of all that is good about us. God bless him and I'm so happy he survived and for you Bryan relaying his expedition so beautifully! I also love "it smelled gorgeous" cause lots of our earth does!! rth dows! That is Harry and celebrate♡☆♡
Thankfully he made it home to his wife ... bless his heart. He's right though, it doesn't do you or anyone any good to panic. He was smart making an S.O.S. with the logs ... he was trying. I'm so happy he made it home.
Tears rolling down my face . Harry is filled with the Holy Spirit. That's the joy and comfort he experienced. I can relate( not the same circumstances!) But it's a comfort not of this world and everytime you face a challenge, the tremendous calm flows through your body. I was very broken in a different way. You captured it perfectly with the two hands! So moving😢💖

We had some kids get lost in far north of California. They knew the plants they could forage and they were found in a couple days. Very fortunate and I'm always grateful for the mild weather and usually mild flora here.

The attitude is the 11th (really the first!) thing that both the subject and the SAR teams need to have a successful mission. Harry’s attitude is amazing! That’s crazy you made this I live in roseburg and literally camp and hike on the same trail as this man twin lakes is an amazing spot . His story of survival is incredible!

Thank you Bryan and Harry! On a recent hike I led with Sierra Club, I heeded your advice - we had no issues but at one point a hiker got a little anxious and asked which way was north and I was able to show her specifically with my compass-
Ty Bryan for all your videos. Your heart is so big to put all these out there to help their loved ones! Plus, I learn so much about the wilderness and ride horses in a vast area upstate NY. It presents challenges so I appreciate any survival videos or tips!!
Way to go Harry! A positive attitude and good sense of humor goes a long way. This story was inspiring and presents good lessons learned..."always be prepared, expect the unexpected and never give up."
Quite a story! In a sense he almost everything wrong that you could do except one thing- he kept a good attitude. He never gave up and it kept him alive. Of course he picked a great area to get lost in was fortunate that the temperature there was survivable. Ultimately survival is graded pass/fail and he passed! But how much easier of time he'd have had if he'd better better prepared.

Something given for a reason eh.
Absolutely incredible.
Take what you can carry.
All of it me mate.
It's a beautiful thing .
The whole thing.
I would love to meet the man.
@@francesgreen1135 this is all pure fanfiction. Why assume his wife is this way? Geez...
This is such a great story it is nice to hear he was rescued and it didn't turn into a missing 411.
Way to go Harry! A positive attitude and good sense of humor goes a long way. This story was inspiring and presents good lessons learned..."always be prepared, expect the unexpected and never give up."
17 days with underwear on his head wandering around lost. I did that in collage, but I doubt I could do it like him... Great video!
😆😆
What an amazing story, amazing man, and amazing rescuers.
You’re doing a great job bringing these stories forward. Thanks.
Amazing. I am sure his faith in God kept him alive for that long.
Guy had what it takes everyone can't do it but he did. Expect the unexpected keep the faith and good luck.
What a wonderful story
I'm so glad Harry made it home!
Ah geeze.....crying like a baby! Love his story and his positive attitude. Guess I'm a sap for happy endings.
Awesome, one of the great endings! Tough dude...God-fearing and kept his faith. Amen to THAT...
what a brave determined and clever man!
Excellent description! Thank you!
