    I like that you don’t mess with the raw sound. It’s just as Yamaha made it. Decent enough. You don’t run it through a 300$ reverb and Ableton for cleaning it all up. I love all of my Yamaha keyboards btw. Keep up the great vids!

    Great video! I laughed out loud several times. Also loved the 90s midi-esque beats! I definitely remember seeing these when I was a junior higher.

    yep. this was the keyboard I got back in june 2018 which was 3 months before I started doing videos on here. the dj game is quite simple. those sounds you here have a purpose. the crash sound is giving you instructions, and the go means you have to play them right back. and that is what the multipads can do. each pad is assigned to an action. for a keyboard that came out back in 2000 this isn't a bad keyboard for messing about on. I did a whole video on the dj game once. I still love this keyboard today and its up there with my psr 220 in the best keyboard catigory

      Thanks Kim - some of this old gear is great and it's SOOOOO cheap these days. I doubt I'll ever buy a brand new keyboard again, though I have had some talks with Yamaha recently about some exciting upcoming releases. Trying to persuade them to give me a bit of a preview...

    Yup, I do read them. Got my PSR170 from the trash on the road, and I even use it - currently - as master keyboard for my RA50. The 260 appears to be very similar... I think it is a nice beginner keyboard. I started on the PSS 560, so I know the fun in pain. If you have a kid to torture and got it from the trash - enjoy the little bugger suffering :) Your demo song is quite nice :)

    I've always dreamed of having portable pianos like this, literally speaking that I always thought about jamming on keyboards like this, and my favorite beats on any piano keyboard are DJ dance rhythems and piano rhythems. I also love the Latin rhythems even though I am African-American instead of a Hispanic.

      Luckily, I still have similar keyboards like the Yamaha PSR 280 keyboard, and the lighted version of the keyboard in this video.

  • @pay9011
    @pay9011 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I bought one of these in the 90's I think. I wanted something that would do everything but quickly realized that guitars were more my style. It still has the glossy cardboard selling points attached.
    Actually I bought the psr 280.

    somebody know how to get a midi in by a sequencer? I´ve try it with a keystep and korg sq 64 but on midi 1 just piano (no changes with voice and style), on midi 2-9 no sound or just piano and on midi 10 just drum and no midi clock btw. I think with a sequencer the sounds are very nice for my setup but with out a midi in it is useless for me. Maybe I can solder a midi in to the keyboard connection inside (looks simple inside)?

    • @gearfacts

      There might be a way to modify the circuit board inside but that's way above my skill level~!

      this keyboard has touch sensitive keys, metalic speekers and 4 songs that the psr 170 doesn't have, infact, they replace the 4 pop songs found on the psr 170, all though the psr 170 is from 2001 and the psr 260 is from 2000

    It's a midi techno overload. It's almost a comparison to cheesey music software with basic sound packs. The sounds are reasonable, but the thrown in sound effects are unnecessary.

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I think they were put there for the amusement of the DJ game really. The same sound effects are used on the DJX but in a much more versatile and usable way.
