It's quite interesting that so many people get into dungeon and dragons as like a gateway into RPGs(myself included) when the system is a bit tiresome and complex. cyberpunk however is by no means "easy" combat is quite complex although red did streamline it a bit. it's still deadly as hell. I have been playing cyberpunk 2020 for many years.
I disagree, the system is quite easy. However it has depth that can be daunting.
I run cyberpunk red on roll20. The Cyberpunk 2077 computer game is pretty much amazing now that it's had some work done behind it. The graphics and music are great along with the embedded radio songs for when you're driving around in your stolen cars.
I'd look at buying a copy if the physical edition was generally available. Good quick look though

Shadowrun was my goto in the day, we knew Cyberpunk existed but back then Shadowrun was far larger.

The video game in my opinion is good. Its the reason I ordered the corebook for tabletop play.

It's not a 2d6 system it's a d10 system with d6's for damage but since your health never goes up it is deadly.

it's a stat + skill + 1D10 versus a difficulty value (DV for short). Some rolls (like in Netrunning) are using the Role Ability + 1D10 Vs DV. Others are opposed rolls, where both party roll, and the higher wins. The D6 are used for damages rolls. Crits are obtained on those damage rolls by getting two 6's. the more a weapons deal damages the better the chance for a crit, which generate special type of wounds and effect, like the ones you can see in '77.

I completely get the issue with mending genres in Shadowrun. In fact I removed some fantasy elements or at least limited some of them. That said I think it's mechanically brilliant the way it balances all these features. Hey, great video though, thanks!

I loved Shadowrun back in the day-if you only like hard sf then that is fine too but I think you are missing out on some fun gaming.
Art looks great. Layout and tables looks like a game from the 80's. I don;t think Mike Pondsmith has been able to move with the times.
I don't mind it. There's a lot about modern layout that bothers me too. I respect your point. :)
As for the layout. The Pondsmith's know their fans and learned a lesson on jarring that fan base with CP v3.

That's fine. That isn't the same as there actually being "real" cliched fantasy elements in a game.
No. They could've gone into the whole gene-editing shit and turn full genetic rewriting/tranformation into being the ultimate biohack in the world, but no.

Instead of going with a great medical, and technological explanation in a cyberpunk world they went with that. "Gene editing? Pfffft, no! They just literally came out of nowhere!"

Mekton(anime roleplay and Mecha), T. F. O. S.-Teenagers From Outer Space (Mekton but teens and more comedic), Cybergeneration(Cyberpunk w/teens mixed with X-Men/New Mutants), Castle Falkenstein(victorian era steam fantasy), and the most recent game THE WITCHER. Fantasy using the same system for Cyberpunk Red.

Real talk Matt: I'm a teacher in the middle of the worst year of my career with Covid. I'm exhausted, I'm stressed, and I'm struggling to think clearly. As most teachers are.
