I love how Jay has acknowledged Ed Welburn as the patriarch of GM design. Ed Welburn is the ultimate student of GM design heritage! He is the curator of Mitchell design! His passion for getting it right is beyond our expectations. I'm a big GM critic, but Ed's vision is the true course of GM.
Ed Welburn brought class and taste to GM design. Right now I'd say the two best car designers today are Ed Welburn (who recently retired from GM) and Ian Callum of Jaguar.
Ed's voice is so relaxing.

Hard to believe it was revealed 10 years ago. I remember how cool and how much of a change the Corvette looked then. Now today the c8 Corvette is even more crazy with the design, but really cool as well.

These are great cars. Now you can buy one for around $35-39,000.
Not with z51 and 3LT packages. I have been pricing them every day. They are in the low to upper 40s. The 6 speed autos are being over priced because the 8 speeds are having so many problems. The 6 speeds are flawless with zero problems so they are in demand.
If only ***2021***! I really wanna get one kf these.

In my opinion this is the last Corvette. This 2020 so-called Corvette is not a Corvette it’s a European super car. It has nothing to do with the rich history that came before. As far as I’m concerned the Corvette ended in 2019 with this model.
this is a car on it's own... no car compares to it... I have one and wouldn't trade it to any other sports car whether it's American or European.... it is also less expensive then other sports car for it's value
may I ask how you are able to afford it? I want one badly but can't afford it with my job (hotel job $13 hour)

This design took a lot of time to grow on me but now I really like it! The build quality and engineering are head and shoulders above the last gen car. Still think the Stingray concept car would have been more stunning as a production car though.
I’m surprised this body style didn’t stick around longer.

This car was revealed on January 13, 2013, a memorable date 1/13/13. I remember watching this video over and over again, along with the official reveal. I couldn't get enough of this car. The only thing I kept waiting for was a simple video of seeing it being driven, and maybe an exhaust note.

***** A hellcat is 60k but dealers boost up the price to 90k for its demand and thats if you can even find one. I was comparing it to a stingray not a Zo6.

Still has a Manual Trans. I know that cars these days have transmissions that can shift faster than any human, but there is nothing like riding gears and double clutching. I really hope when i get out of college that Corvettes will continue to put out 'Vettes with manual transmissions.

I love how Jay is very carefully kept in-check by GM here. He's not allowed ANY criticism. It's like a press conference at a Hillary Clinton Q&A where they have to stick to the script.. OR ELSE!
Its not just GM, I have never heard him say anything negative about any car. He only gives positive feedback.

...alright Jay!...takes a true car guy like you to see that this is the first truly world class Corvette. I've always lusted after the Italian exotics (cars)...but one hasn't even crossed my mind since seeing the C7...oh...and for those true Corvette guys out there...I own a '57 vette...and it doesn't have four round tail lights either...
I still think the new Challenger is the best looking american car. It sure as hell is the one that is the most faithful to the look of the original.

Anders Kristensen Though i agree, Hammond from Top Gear stated you couldn't buy a Challenger in standard its first few years.. which is insulting if you ask me(I dont know the legitimacy of that statement but take their word for it).. The corvette never went away and still is the pinnacle of American Sports cars, make the argument for the Viper and I'll show you an idiot.. this is the best thing we have to offer as a true "super-car"(the Z06 version that is) and the world will choose to love it or hate it.. but that will never take away the fact that this thing can do what cars 3-5 times as much.. The new Hell-Cats are awesome and i do hope people do love them as much as this, but this our 911 its our car that can never be taken away from us, and yes some Europeans will laugh at that nobody from the U.S will

I remember 7-8 years ago how people said GM killed the corvette even though the C7 up to the C8 were highly sought after.
My dad gave me his 2014 corvette so I can trade it in. Carmax offered me 45 grand cause it has... 11k on it. Very low mileage like people wanted it. Probably more expensive if it wasn't an Automatic.
This vid is the Reason why I bought a ‘19 ZR1 manual with my name in it. It’s just cool. I look at it all the time with my 1969 427 stingray next to it and GM nailed this C7. 20 years from now will still be cool.

I just love the manner of speaking that the fella from GM has, just a perfect voice for narration. I picked up a 2014 just a few months ago with only 16,000 MI. Blue with the smoked top and chrome wheels. Just a beautiful beautiful car
I always laugh at all these people comparing the drivability, durability, handling and all around performance of these cars, be it american or european or japanese. Maybe 1 out of 1000 of you have ever even been behind the wheel of any of them, let alone driven enough of these cars to accurately compare them to one and other. If you don't get what i'm saying I'll simplify, quit talking shit about that which you have NO experience with..... morons. Unless your goal is to regurgitate the biased opinions of some tv hack who shares your hate of a particular country or region. Otherwise say you like it or dislike it and maybe have a factual reason for why. Oh, and for those of you who think it looks like a ferrari, you're right, but then again one could probably count on their fingers the amount of cars in the history of automotive design that are truely original or at minimum extremely innovative in appearance. never been a fan of corvette or American cars only foreigns. Until I saw this c7 corvette, like they said it looks very Italian made vehicle. Looks different than any other corvette ever made!. I actually bought a white c7 last month I love it!
Sick, I've seen 3 of these on the road(a red 1st, a white one last saturday, and a blue one on sunday) and, as good as it look on film and in pics, it looks way better in person.

That statement is quite bold sir. I'd have to disagree. You've got the original '53 Fuelie 283, the iconic '63 Split Window, the '69 427 Stingray, I'm partial to my boosted '08.
Like Leno said, Corvette is one of the best bang-for-your-buck cars, and they're meant to be street driven. Not to mention they actually have an actual manual transmission, you know, with that clutch pedal, I wouldn't buy European for that alone.
I use to think Corvette's were ugly and just horrible in general. But the Sting Ray just looks wonderful!!! They're changing the style and it looks great!

That dinging sound when the door is open with the key in the ignition kills the aura for me. Reminds me of a cheap rental car.

So not to be a jerk (honest) but out of curiosity I searched for the sounds high end cars make. Non American cars seem to be more annoying (beeping has no pause to it).
You do make a valid point, but I don't think the price tag on the car makes it any better or worse.

Well I don't know much about dohc so really can't say much there but pushrods especially ls engines and now lt1 have better torque band and have better reliability, and there is a lot of aftermarket parts for them, that's why the ls engines are in everything

It is split in half from the fuel cap. Apart from the tail lights, Nissan GTR from the back. Then it's a Ferrari California from the fuel cap forwards.

C6 was still using steel (base model) when all the european counterparts had moved to full aluminium chassis in their base model supercars an audi R8 when it was first released had a 100% aluminium chassis

It does look like a cheap Ferrari wannabe to me. The interior looks weird, not elegant or classy. A real sports car should have analog gauges, not virtual electronic displays. My preference for a high-end sports car would be either the Viper hardtop or the Porsche Carrera S. I think the 7-liter Z06 is a better Vette.

Its a well esttablished facts that he does, sometimes he will ride he jet engine powered motorcycle or his 1903 stanley steamer, or one of his many other cars. Infact he once drove his steam powered car to Connan Obriens house to pick him up to hang out.You think he buys all those cars just to look at them?
