The GM of Selden France looks like he really enjoys his job, is proud of the product and is genuinely happy to start producing their own carbon masts. That bodes well for the quality of the product and hopefully for any service needed. :-)
Having a 35 year manufacturing life it's great seeing the factory tour - thanks. I used to make aircraft engineering parts so really appreciate their quality and process control. Very similar to my life!

Nice to see a company really want to do this right. Tracking every part number that went into your mast is a BIG deal. How many times I've needed parts for any given items (saws, sanders, car parts, etc.). and you can't find a part number, or the part at all. More people/places need to do this. Granted, that all comes with a price...a price many just are not willing to spend.
I was very fortunate to have visited Selden UK a few years ago and I must say this facility looks identical in many ways. I don’t think the GM has come up with anything new but it’s obviously a tried and tested formula. The lack of staff in such a facility would concern me though. In the UK site they had a huge number of tradesmen all flat out and it looked like a factory. The French site doesn’t look busy,a little too clean.

That Selden section was on par or better than alot of manufacturers official promo video - to the point that I reckon you could probably fund/suppliment your global travels by making "official" promo videos for companies who meet the Mads OCD quality mark 👍
Hey Mads, great tour of Selden. Can I just say that the curvature on the step of the mast is fine for adjusting the mast rake but sometimes we need to deliberately bend the mast to depower the main. Nothing wrong with that :)
Nice factory tour. I've always enjoyed seeing how things are made. Right at the end of this video when you showed the tank covers I realized something: You made them out of a dark fabric, which will absorb heat, thus heating your extra fuel. This could be a safety issue, since heated fuel wants to expand, putting internal pressure on your tanks. You might want to consider remaking them out of a lighter colored fabric. Especially if you are heading for a tropical climate (the Caribbean).
I found a way to permanently mark synthetic lines using machinist's layout dye ( DyKem is one). It comes in several colors, soaks right into lines and won't fade in the sun. While I used it to mark our anchor rode in units of ten, I'm sure your rod kicker adjusting line will will be something to dye for...
We have a massive Anderson electric winch on our mast. Like your Selden, its motor is a pancake that makes up the base of the winch. EDIT TO ADD: Just looked at Cadoha's video. The Selden winch is far more compactly made than my Anderson. Even considering the Seldon is a size 40 and my mast winch is a size 60.
Keeping your workplace tidy and organised…. yeah about that…. While I’m a bit of a perfectionist in terms of the boat I’m building, my work area is a disorganised nightmare, not helped by being spread between a workshop and an adjoining shed. Every day I spend time searching for something that’s often under my nose but hiding amongst the tangle of tools, pvc offcuts, epoxy dust, gloves, plastic, fibreglass, coffee cups, plans, paint tins, cardboard boxes, nuts and bolts, and other many and varied boat building detritus! I gotta sort that out! Right, I’ll get onto that tomorrow…

Got a question - how do you rate your mainsheet setup, does it allow good adjustment for light airs and also flattening out the main sail in strong winds, I'm considering modifying my mainsheet setup to free up the cockpit similar athena. Reading between the lines, I'd say that that wonderful story of the Seldén plant in France getting their own carbon-manufacturing ability is one more story of Brexit increasing Britain's exports - of jobs. Looking forward to seeing you guys getting more sailing time in.
I was 5 minutes into the factory tour until i realized he was saying “carbon” instead of “goblin”. I knew it was not right why would you have goblin and aluminum. Good times. Cadoa is a fine Chanel but they do much less DIY and when they do it is not in quite so much detail. Actually i wish there were more detail on this channel as well but it is what it is
This I'm afraid to say is the only video from the channel that I have stopped watching, as much as I respect the hard work you have done and I have enjoyed the content untill this video, and honestly don't take it the wrong way but to me this "factory tour" felt like it was nothing more than a sales promotional video for the company. I know I'm going to get lots of hate for writing that but that is how it came across. If that offends anyone, apologies in advance.

On the gas can you might want to add a strap on the bottom to hold the canvas down over the can so it can't blow away.
