Frankly, when you look at the list of those who are NOT inducted, & the names of those who 'decide' who 'deserve' to be inducted...that list is just as impressive as those who are...& some are even more endearing.
I agree that Dan should be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. My older Sister introduced me to his music in 1976. Saw him at St John's University in NY and a couple times in subsequent years. The lyrics of "Believe in Me" are so poignant.
I think God wants us to believe in him..sometimes we stray away with questions..I just wake up one day and i can hear it in my ear..I think the beauty of our soul and melody if we let it.
Vee Beth Herrera ...You are absolutely right! I've been a fan since the 70's & even now in 2018, I can honestly say I am still discovering songs I had not heard. Oh what a gift he left for us even as later his passing. He sings invalids Choir if Angels...are might even be the Leader of the Band!😍

@@jasonchris9263 Jason, I can only have faith in my heart that your words are sincere. Anything less would be of the lower vibrations which we all should be well aware of and praying to rise above. Stay well, brother.

It was 1987. I was playing piano at Vanessie's of Santa Fe. I took a break and went to the bar. A gentleman complimented me on my rendition of a song by John Denver that I played. I thanked him and said............"My name is Allen Quintana, and I play piano occasionally here at Vanessie's." He replied, " It's Nice to meet you and you're a great pianist. My name is Dan Fogelberg". ........ My jaw dropped and I damn near fainted. For the next few minutes we talked but I was too starstruck, and I can't remember what else we talked about!. Thanks Dan and I miss your music. I've learned to play more of his beautiful compositions,.........I hope I am doing them justice.
Just revisiting some of Dan's beautiful music and came across your comment. What a wonderful memory. Just playing his songs and introducing them to new people is definitely doing them justice.
Dan met his wife Jean at Cafe Romano in Santa Fe while she played music there. I know this because she is writing a memoir. I am huge fan of his also. What a complement! Check the link on his website to read about it
I was there as well in Phoenix, very special.... what you didn't say is that it was virtually verbatim the same as this St Louis show, his only commercially released concert video, only a few weeks removed as I recall.
Yes it really saddens me. It made me think of the Christmas song ihe did about seeing an old lover in. grocery store. That melancholy feeling we get when we remember people. At least his music lives on.
I was in my 20’s when I started listening to Dan Fogelberg. I am 67 now and I still listen to him. I love his music and songs. They are timeless to me.
Maybe my favorite song by him and I own ALL his albums. I bet I saw him 30 times in concert. I live in Colorado and he performed here almost every year. I loved his solo acoustic concerts the most. This is was the big outing for my sister and me every year. Miss you, Dan- there will never be anyone like you. Can't believe you've been gone almost 10 years.
You were so fortunate to have seen Dan perform live. I've always loved Dan and been moved by his music since he first started out and wish every day that he was still here with us but yes his spirit lives on in his music & lyrics. I lived in the USA for 5 years but sadly couldn't afford to fly to one of his performances, same with Linda Ronstadt (I'm a huge fan) and now she doesn't sing anymore.....but I treasure their music, lyrics & incredible talent each and every day....you're always in my thoughts Dan....rest with the Angels xoxoxo
alederhos, I too saw him many times and agree...his solo acoustic concerts were the best. He had a way of making you feel like you were sitting in his living room and you were the only audience! He touched many with his music.
A friend in P.V. Mex. always spoke about Dan Fogelberg and I always loved these songs, but I also remember Brad that loved and spoke so much about Dan - He's also gone now, but still remembered.
@Greg Normal Dan Fogelberg was an amazing talent. I love to hear those old songs felt from the heart. Not very many artists achieve the projection of feeling he expresses in his voice - likely, there's not anyone that could express that level of deep feeling!!!! - it's a miracle! Every once in a while I'll have an evening where I listen to my favorite old songs. When I was in Brazil, I was blown away by Marisa Monte and I walked behind her entering the Blue Moon on Sunset Strip in L.A. to one of her concerts - her voice was just so amazing and her Portuguese was inspiring. "El Sai" was totally amazing and I remember where I was in Brazil the time I first heard that song on the radio in a small restaurant the first time. That was in Batatais, Brazil, on a day I was touring with Mauro - the patriarch of a family that sort of adopted me for a while.
@Greg Normal I love the spontaneity of him writing and singing "Ol Ang Sine" and the trumpet player is an amazing professional as well, but it's such an insightful song and so well done. I can picture that happening to someone as a slice of life in America. Moreover, it's revealing and insightful as to the kind of person Dan Fogelberg really is, too. I can visualize how everyone on the band must of loved him and were so happy to be with him creating songs that are so artfully done. I was just showing my wife three of his songs!
This is my favourite Dan Fogelberg song bar none. It is hauntingly beautiful and It is a classic and will still be a classic long after I've joined Dan in heaven!
I was only a year and a half old when he passed, im just now stumbling across these videos. Wish he was still around so i could see him in concert. My parents have seen him and still have the tickets though

I totally agree.
Who cares with "hall of shame", Dan's music is absolutely superior to this garbage

Terrific singer that brings tears to my eyes.I should have lived my life better, he tells me every time I listen to his voice. Thanks for your music.
I have seen Dan ten times in concert and I saw Dan Fogelberg perform this in concert in 1992 at the Desert Sky Pavilion in Phoenix, Arizona and I have got his autograph twice on 2 of his songbooks and I drew 2 pictures of Dan that were given to him when I was at his concert in 2002 at the Grove Venue in Anaheim, California and I wrote this poem for him in July 2000 and had it framed and when I went to see Dan in concert that month at Humphrey's by the Bay in San Diego, California the stage manager put it in Dan's dressing room and after the concert I talked to one of Dan's band members and he said Dan took it with him when he left. I wonder if Dan's wife Jean still has these items.
A Poem For Dan Fogelberg
Once again I return to another world … A world only known to poets...
Inadequacy fills my soul… To eulogize the living…
The legacy we think we know… To paint on this page my feelings…
How can one, where does one begin… He commands the poets’ pen…
Cloaks our spirit with his verse… At what cost, at what cost…
His yearning for love forever fills the inkwell… But does the fire fuel the fire…
Does his mistress, the empty page, keep him from redemption…
If so, forget the sirens beckoning and take love…
His song, our song, the song of countless hearts since God’s first breath…
And we’ve been blessed by this, his curse and gift…
His songs make us cry, his tears write his song… For how long, for how long…
Would we trade his music, to set his heart forever free…
To love without restraint, or would one Judas him for a song…
Could I write what he feels when the door is left open…
As he awakens and turns to find only the empty page…
I will try to fill some space for him this time…
How many times must rose petals dry… Falling one by one to the floor…
How many times will hearts shatter… Yet return for the pain once more…
When will the love that is captured… Not change and need to be freed…
When will the need to feel love be fulfilled… Who will fulfill that need…
So now my painting ends… We’ve never met, but we are friends…
From myself and other fans… Thanks again… Thanks again…
