Who's still listening in 2020? Revisiting good memories in central Illinois an hour south of DF's hometown of Peoria where I grew up. I loved this song the minute I heard it on the radio so long ago, but seeing this performance gave me chills. What a voice, and what a poet.
AND....... HOW DID THIS SONG NOT GET THE ATTENTION IT DESERVED??? Like plenty of others, it fell under the radar.
Yet Billie Eilish and 'Halsey' (nee ASHLEY) are winning Grammys and hogging airplay. Pretty, but not like this.
The people that LOVE Dan give him the attention he "deserves". I'm not worried about anyone else who are unable to appreciate his genius, or will not consider his music worthy for their own ears - I ask you, do you think Dan Fogelberg cared if he didn't have the attention of those people? I can't stand many artist's music and so I don't listen - but many people give those artists their attention because they do favor their art. Isn't this the root of all "art"? Some like; others don't. I betcha Dan didn't give a fig whether anyone liked his music or not. And he certainly doesn't need one iota of pity about any perceived notion of "lack of deserved attention".
Outstanding musician and songwriter. I never saw him live. He passed too soon.

Miss him so- imagine how much more music he would have made if cancer hadn't taken him. first concert to see Dan Fogelberg was in 1981 in NJ. Stole my heart. went to see him every chance i could. Still listen to his music today and if he were alive today and still making music i would still be following. Always will be in my top 2 favorite musicians.

There have been a few singer-songwriters that have captured my ears and my mind. Croce did it, Lightfoot has done it and Dan . Dan had many talents. I am blessed that God chose to him to deliver to us much more than we ever gave him. RIP Dan.

Why do the great ones always die so young? I was so fortunate to have seen him in the early 80s. I got tickets for our Anniversary and cried through the song Longer as all I could think about was how fortunate I was to have found the woman by my side to be with me.

Saw this Master once in the Early 80's in San Antonio Majestic Theater (highly recommend the venue - clouds and stars in the ceiling) and was blown away by the difference between recordings and his live performance. Blonstein Neil. I was just hearing this for the first time, 5-26-21, wishing I could read along with his lyrics as I did. For some reason, I scrolled done the posters and there you were! I am grateful. Dan Fogelberg had it all: lyricist/poet, songwriter/composer, instrumentalist, leader of the band, love of family, the courage to try marriage three times, etc. Many ETC. He just didn't have enough time on this earth he loved--from Colorado to Maine...and all points in between and in every direction. Again, many thanks.

He helped me get through some extremely difficult times...loosing my husband to heart cancer in 1988...we were both 28. Then to loose Dan to cancer was another blow.
"LEADER OF THE BAND"{MINE WAS PETEY THE COCKATIEL)}& "AULD LANG SYNE"= MY FAV'S].The year b4 DAN passed away i "won" 2 concert tickets to see DAN FOGELBERG's solo concert at RUTH ECKERD HALL, CLEARWATER, FL. DAN blew me away{ the wife enjoyed DAN'S songs but her passion is " OLDIES" & " FRANKI VALLE"}. DAN was superb; no hint of illness. He went on doing what he loved & excelled at till the end. R.I.P.
