I was wondering what the 'holster' was on the earlier jacket. I though it would be a holster padding but i didn't know that it actually functioned as a holster. Thats really cool

fun fact: The pattern was called "Ein Strich- kein Strich" by soldiers. Literally "One stroke - no stroke"

@@FG42 so I did not end up with the UTV shirt or the one you have pictured but one with the slit pockets if you know which one Im talking about UTV was part of a larger uniform which was supposed so see wider use in the 90s but didnt for obvious reasons. Also got a pair of the older pants. Cant wait to wear em when I go hunting with my pops or something. The uniform came with quite a powerful smell from probably being worn and then not washed and sitting in a warehouse for years if I could describe it to someone 🤣🤣🤣

    Those are nice sets.
I don't have any UTV but the earlier uniforms seem to have varied a lot in their detail over time.
I have one old heavily worn pair of trousers with that 'plastic' pocket lining and there are no holes if that means anything.
The other 87 dated pair I have cotton pockets surprisingly but have some of the plastic or synthetic as lining around the inside front.
The two jackets I have are both probably later than yours but again they show wide differences between eachother.
I haven't seen the hoods but I do have a helmet cover which lacks buttonholes even though it extends low enough at the back(unlike the Czech style).
Thank you for another very interesting post.

I'm having a bit of a hard time differentiating between the UTV pants and normal pants. So basically, they're very similar except for the material and whether the pockets are inside or out. The UTV shirt is much different it's basically a BDU cut, but the pants seem very similar. If there's more differences, I'm missing please let me know.

    • @FG42

Hello Derpo, Yes the thigh pockets are the most visible difference. The UTV are very similar to the 88 model of soviet uniform.
