      Thank you for the comment. I was nice to meet people such as Dean and his friends. Then for him to allow me to record this was very nice of him.

    Been having a very hard time getting a radio for my own uniform, but it’s very cool to see that someone else has had luck getting one for their own uniform!

    General uniform dress code manual states that suspender straps must be secured under the epileps to reduce wear on the epilep buttons and keeps the harness secure

    I have the first version NVA tunic circa 1949 - 53. It's tan & cut to the waist, elasticated. I also own a ginormous DDR flag. I suspect that it flew on top of a large building or upon a very large flagpole.

    Hi, just a question
    What did nva soldiers wear under the uniform?

    • @FG42
      @FG42  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Typically wore a variety of undergarments under their uniform, depending on the situation and the weather conditions. During colder weather thermal underwear to keep warm if they had it, in warmer weather they had lightweight undershirts and shorts. You can find this stuff from militaria shops. However like most people I find my own purchased undergarments to be preferable.

    Is the rain cape the same thing as the Zeltbahn?

    • @FG42

      No, it is like the Russian rain cape.

    How does the rain coat attach to the belt?

    • @FG42
      @FG42  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      it is just the rubber straps that he is using to hold it on.

    East Germany is one of the most terrible places to visit during the Cold War, no thanks to the Soviet Union. :-(

      @FG42  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes Stephen it was not a nice place. I did get an opportunity to visit East Germany a couple of months after the wall came down. I also went to a few soviet countries as soon as they opened up, but now seem to be closed.
