Once you use FFS you will see wonders you never knew existed. Huge schools of Crappie and White Bass. Large pods of Black Bass, Walleye, and Catfish that you never knew existed. We often follow huge schools of Crappie just to watch them roil and eat on enormous schools of Shad. We occasionally see a Bass or Catfish raid the baitfish. It is truly amazing to be able to see this in real time.

Well said brother! The DNR needs to reassess the limits on all species, there are just to many people anymore. What kills me is I`ll see people walk out with a basket full of fish and they`ll be trying to give them away on the way to their vehicle. If you don`t want the fish, then why are you toting them out? Leave them for someone else to catch.

I agree with your views on subject! I agree with you that it's legal and public water and like you mentioned, I've noticed a change on the waters I fish and fish are there it's just taking a lot more time to find them and get them to bite... I'm in the camp that I can't blame you for using something absolutely legal on public water, but I also believe scope needs to be really looked at and what impact it's having on our fisheries... thanks for the great video sir!!

I was taught bank fishing by my dad. Just core basics for the most part. Live bait, cut bait & a few lures. When I go fishing with my friends, I always say, “This is God’s house.” as I fish away. The beauty & clarity one gets fishing is better than any therapy from a doctor or any NFL game. There is a tranquility that is only broken by catching or missing a fish. The good laughs had even on skunked days beats the best day at a bar. But when the fish are biting, it’s heaven on earth. Semper Fi

But the latest crop of electronics will make anyone a better fish locator. I love white bass fishing in the spring, hybrid fishing in the fall/winter and bluegill fishing late spring/early summer. Those pictures of lots of fish are usually from Guides. We go fishing at least two days a week. We catch more than we can eat so we cull out to a higher standard, meaning we raise the length requirement by at least one inch. After we have a good eating supply, we catch and release. We keep larger fish and smaller fish are taught to avoid lures, making them harder to catch. We only keep teeners(13"-19") in Cats and Walleye. The real benefit is we spend less time on the water so we add less pollution to the lakes we go fishing in. We don't always use our live scope. Bass are easier to find and catch without it.

Fish can't hide from technology period even 2D. I have Livescope and no matter what we have limits on fish. The ones talking bad about it don't have it us that do don't even want to clean a limit sometimes. Livescope doesn't just make fish jump in the boat either you still have to catch them. People will see a video of someone catching fish with the scope not knowing that person put in lots of time and money. Most of the enjoyment I get while fishing is the unknown, you never know what you are going to hook into on any given cast. Just the other day I went crappie fishing with my ultralight rod from the bank and managed to land some nice slab crappies plus 4 solid bass, the smallest bass was 15 inches and biggest one at 18-1/2 inches. Same thing when flashers came out in the 50s. Lake traffic has exponentially increased since the lockdowns. More people out and more fish being taken out. That seems like the largest factor.

Thanks for the comment and excellent questions. Yes, since Covid there has been an increase in pleasure boating and fishing...that's a fair question. However, over the past couple of years I've seen ice chests completely full of fish, caught using live scope, and the fishermen bring them out of the boat and ask people on the bank do they want them because they don't want to take them home! That has a huge influence on the population when you catch more than you can use. ~John

I understand catch and release and I don't have the scientific know how of what it is but tournaments on any body of water are not good. Try fishing on that lake even a week after a tourney and you will be lucky to catch anything. It shoulkd go back to fishing with a bud or a son daughter wife just to get out but 65 boats on any lake with 130 rods in the water IMO is not good. Thanks for the vid

Truth. My local lake top five tournament big fish (bass) have historically been 7-8lbs. After FFS came out it went to 10-12lbs. Last year it went back down to 7-8lbs. My conclusion is the FFS fishermen raped the lake of all the big breeders and now the lake is on the decline because they will continue to catch/kill the biggest fish in the lake.

To me fishing is solving a puzzle. I fished with a friend that fished AAA level events, has top 10 finishes at that level and is very good with FFS. We caught a lot of fish the day we fished together but I didn’t feel like we had solved the puzzle. It didn’t feel like fishing and didn’t make me feel when I solve the puzzle and have success. I fished pro level events when I was younger (I’m 65) and still fish club and local events. I haven’t seen any decline in my success over the last several years. I fished about 2 dozen tournaments last year and won 3, about how I was doing 5 years ago. 30-40 years ago when I was the only guy around with any pro experience and I was in my 30’s I won a lot. That’s more about all the information that’s available and the 2nd and 3rd generation anglers that didn’t have to invent it as they go along.

I’m neutral on this, on the topic of over fishing. I do have live scope in certain bodies of water I use it mainly to help pattern the fish,80% of the time I don’t run any electrics, live scope are any technology doesn’t diminish the population of crappie , depending on the size of the body of water that is being fished ( small bodies of water can be over fished) it has been proven by biologist for years now. Me Being an avid fisherman what I’ve noticed about live scope, and most electronics is it affects the fish with over pressuring, anglers will keep pushing these fish and forcing them to move away from the boat, when fish sense the boat they adapted to move away from it. (On highly used bodies of water with electronics)that being said, if you don’t have these electronics, it will be harder to pattern your fish. Giving the appearance that the fish population has diminished In reality, they just moved from your boat. As high as 80% of crappie die of old age in most bodies of water. Again I’m neutral, this is proven facts. I use these electronics because fishing has changed and I adapted to it. Just my two cents.

I have fished both ways. I catch fish both ways. The blame is not on Live sonar at all. Everyone seems to ignore the huge increase in both fishing pressure and boating traffic. And that is the actual reason for you not catching fish and thinking the population has declined. Keep in mind they are wild creatures. Their means of survival has to do with the ability to adapt and stay alive. There are many instances where you can catch one fish and the whole groups swims off. This was learned from actual experience using the demonized live sonar. I have seen this on many lakes and most where people complain the fishing sucks or there's no fish anymore! Look there are millions more fish in the lake than you could ever imagine. Also live sonar will teach you this. It is a tool and that's it. I mean how many of you still use a tire iron to Change a tire ? It's the new fangled impacts that make it more efficient the reason you got a flat in the first place? Face it ! The fish adapt to survive. We also must adapt to advance our skills. Livescope does not catch fish. It does however help you to learn their behaviors. That's it 😊

If the only way a person can catch fish is by using a live scope their not much of a fisherman, their a video expert. There are times I'll turn on my sonar unit and only use it for the GPS if I'm on a new lake and never see the other screens....

I love my livescope. I don't get to go as often as I'd like and any little thing that helps when I do get to go makes sense to me. I don't keep the fish I catch.

I like a little bit of mystery myself. I hope people don’t abuse it. Got my doubts though, mankind has proved itself to be awful greedy, hope we don’t do it with live scope

The 615 people that I fish with on the tours are catch&release we don't keep a single bass, as far as the crappie population I can see were it could hurt the population.

@@omoutdoors 99% of bass fishermen practice catch&release, it kills my soul to see a big bass on a stringer..

Here's the issue, barotrauma. And releasing fish. For instance a tournament angler may release dozens of keepers to die. Only to keep as many big ones as legally allowed. I don't like seeing bass on a stringer. But at least the fish don't go to waste

If it is impacting the panfish population, it wont take long for it to impact the bass populations. Where are those trophy game fish going to find large enough meals to grow big if we're fishing out their food supply? Big fish need big food.

Agree 100% ! It has decimated crappie fishing in my area. I enjoy the day in God's great outdoors as you do. I enjoy both bass and panfishing, but LS has made Bass fish local tournaments an elitist sport in my area. Guess if there is a few left after the live scopers invade our lakes guess we will have to be satisfied. Maybe they will move on to other means of video gaming.

I am concerned about the future of my Garmin livescope 😂 strait BS it's a Money thing for sure one unit is $4k so not sure what you smoking broski & no livescope dose not make fish just jump in the livewells 😂

Thanks for comment. I agree, livescope does not make them "jump" in the boat but, you'll have to admit, it does make it easier to find their habitat and increase the chance of catching and increase the quantity of catch. The excessive limits I've seen taken with livescope over the past year or so has absolutely made a difference the fish in our lakes. I'm concerned about the future of fishing more than instant gratification of catching fish with livescope. All the best. ~John

Why you spend so much money for something that doesn't help . I wouldn't care if it was free. I'm not using it because I don't need to. And I still enjoy not knowing where they are for sure and still having a feeling that there's a lake monster out there somewhere

Because that is his choice. Just like yours not to. I have it, i use it. Not all the time, but its there. Since covid there was a huge increase in fisherman and boats on lakes since there wasnt anything else to do really. Wanna talk about fishing pressure, live in S. CAL. Lakes are small, people numerous. BUT the populations are heathy and a lot of people use ffs. Fish adjust. We cant fish at night, guess what there is a huge population of fish that have figured that out and dont feed in the day. They change behaviors. Sorry ffs doesnt reduce fish populations, fisherman that overhavest and waste a resource cause fish populations to decline. @cawbaird5711

I'm brand new to livescope. Yes, it's a game changer but there needs to be more regulations on what you're allowed to keep out of a lake. I use it for crappie, and occasionally will use it for bass. Probably 80% of the time I'm bass fishing I won't use it, it's not essential. Sometimes it is, most of the time no. But the "magic" of fishing to me is catching fish, it's not getting skunked and "oh well that's how luck goes," luck has no part in it. There's always a reason why fish don't bite, the more you're on the water and pay attention to your electronics the more it will teach you about when they will or won't bite, and techniques to get them to bite.

I’ve just discovered forward facing sonar/active imaging recently. I fish in saltwater.
    Here’s the facts:
It’s allowed and people will use it.
It will reduce the amount of fish in a system.
Humans, as a whole, will not self regulate.
Agencies will adjust catch limits to compensate for increased harvest.
The joy of fishing disappears with this step in technology for older anglers. Newer anglers, competitive anglers, and impatient/unskilled anglers will use this tech.
Just like spot lock motors, we have improved our ability to find and catch fish. The fishery will decline until government makes us slow down. I don’t like it either, but that’s the facts on this issue.

Agree 100% I have no animosity toward anyone who uses livescope as intended. My beef is when it's used to completely clean out fish in area that has produced for years. Or, as often happens, some livescope user comes to the bank with overflowing livewell or ice chest and is trying to give away fish because they don't want to deal with cleaning them! That surely will affect the future of fishing! All the best. ~John

Today, it's Technology vs Fish...no skill, talent, or technique required....I'm interested in Angler vs Fish...using Livescope/FFS, the fish have no chance & the future of fish populations will suffer tremendously...the phoneys that use it & think they are "fishing" is quite amusing

LiveScope, SideVu, Side Imaging, Live Vu, whooowee! Game changers! I have LiveScope on my new boat. Haven't used it much as I am still learning. But the latest crop of electronics will make anyone a better fish locator. I love white bass fishing in the spring, hybrid fishing in the fall/winter and bluegill fishing late spring/early summer. The only thing electronics has done for me is help me eliminate a lot of unproductive water. I don't fish where the fish, aint. I'm still not a good fisherman, but I am a good fish locator.
