That is a really good build I’m going to modify my bakki shower so I can have a sieve at the top I might do something like you have as it seems to do the job. Good work there don’t put yourself down it works so nice one.
That's a fantastic idea. I wish I saw this before I made my shower 1 month ago. I'm using a pre-filter with k1 media but I believe the screen would of caught more crud and I wouldn't of spent $500 on a pre filter.. Good job
What a fantastic idea bud bakki shower with a sieve I cam only see 2 miner issues with what you've done so far, where the waste goes it's filling up with water quite quickly which means it will start to overflow with waste quite quickly. The other thing is when you have to wash your screen down if you use a hose you'll be killing the bacteria on the media with chlorine 🤔 may need to use a watering can with pond water for that 👍
@@progressivepondkeeping Ah; OK; thanks very much. I have hand holes all around mine which I need to cover (inspired by you last year) I thought the air circulation was a good idea but I can't get it dead level so it leaks all over the place.
Great build, I was thinking of a top rectangular spray bar, filter gloss, knockney foam pad and media on top tier? Rather than sieve, just as I'm only doing a 3 tier and want the filtration etc? What do you reckon? Thanks Gordon
Hi Leon great build dude it looks really good can’t believe how much muck you collected in such a short time. I’m still using filter floss to trap all the small waste particles. So will be keen to see how your screen works 👍👍👍
Good design and build tbf works well can I ask what size boxes you used and the size of pump. Your using to run it just as a guide gained a sub thanks for sharing
@@progressivepondkeeping thanks for reply I will be using 10000 lph jecod variflow pump to run shower returning flow through the stream and waterfalls into pond litre capacity of boxes will determine what percentage I run pump at .my main pond pump is a 15000 lph jecod variflow running at 60% through vortex and 4 barrel system similar to yours
For the edges of the net on the plastic sheet cut some air tube and press it on its like a C shape and makes a snug seal around edges also what micron mesh did you use i tried 200 and 300 just clog up so quick
In the end I used stainless nuts and bolts I'm not sure on the micron size but I have to pressure was it once a week in the warmer weather as the biofilm clogs it
@@progressivepondkeeping will the cleaning spray they sell for pro seives do any good for the mesh ? I looked at using a replacment mesh for cetus etc they want like 230 for it mad
@zachlittle1787 the screen they use in sieves is completely different to the mesh I used it's the same stuff they use on drum filters and I'm sure they do a drum screen cleaning fluid
Top job there matey, seems to be working well . What size pump is that jebao ? It looks to be running it really well . Just 1 thing i would re think if i were you thow is the lotus root if you watch my video when i set the shower back up on the small pond you will see how lotus root crumbles up and its only been in 3 yrs . Cracking video thow fella 👍👍
Hi Leon, It's look so pretty good idea combining the sieve screen with the bakki shower , You've inspired me to can I go and try to make one myself , One question what type of mesh was it and where did you get it from , Hope you don't mind me asking , All the best from 🌞South Devon 🍻👍👍
Thanks mate I got this mesh from a friend but you can get it on ebay and amazon www.ebay.co.uk/itm/303550010997?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=3qWAnkSeQ_-&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=y5Q-y3LXSRW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=WHATS_APP
Could you not heat up the pipe to fit the end caps? Plus I would have made the made the opening just a tad longer to spread the water a little more over the screen. Great job though and it will quieten down once you get the media in. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
unfortunately I've made a sieve out of the mesh before, collects perfectly but unless your about to give it a jet with the hose every 3 hours or fit some king of screen washer like a drum has it will clog up very quickly and just gets worse once the bio film starts growing on it.
Thank you for sharing. Nice work! What is your mess screen hole size?
Thanks mate I think it's 60 or 70 micron 👍
Cracking job, well done buddy, Rich
Thanks rich 👌👍
Looks awesome. Will be very handy for my aquaponics system with trout in it when the time come. Thanks for sharing. Much love from Norway

Looks like it's working pretty good.. stop knocking yourself.. I think you did a bang up job!!
Thanks mate 👌 👍
Nice update Leon great job on the shower filter
Thanks Carol it's working really well 👌👍
I found that useful. Very interesting, like the flushed screen design for initial filtration off of skimmer.
Thanks Scott 👍🏼

Cracking job mate and if you heat up the plastic pipe enough the end caps will push in and then cool to the right size. Andy

Nice build mate that should do the job and them non DIY skills get better all the time nice one

Looks like a brilliant idea, I wait and see your results before I copy it hope you don't mind.
Great job.
Cheers mate it's working really well 👌👍
Great job & amazing what they catch. Inspired me to do my own MK2 sieve now 😜
Cheers Richard 😁😁👌
New shower/sieve looks the business more bio to the pond and more water polishing should keep your water tip too
Cheers dave 👍 it's catching loads already 👌
great effort mate, i may get you to do me one lol

can you give a link to get the boxes look better than others this looks one of the best builds
Thanks mate www.solentplastics.co.uk/stacking-plastic-containers-boxes/euro-plastic-stacking-containers/
Great work, would it be advisable to use HA6 fish safe sealant
Thanks, mate. i would stick to ct1 or that my pond ms300 stuff is supposed to be good
Interesting and informative; did the CT1 stick OK to the Polypropyline?
Thanks Paul it came off at first, but I keyed it up with a course sand paper and hasn't moved since 👍

@paulspittel1924 yeah mine leaked from the hand holes at first and yes it's a shame to cover them because you lose the gassing off

hi mate where did you get them Heavy duty containers from thanks....👍
Hello mate I got them from solent plastics online 👍
Leon - how many microns is your sieve cloth please?

Where did you get the mesh from?
Stay safe.

Leon if you just let me serve bow a bit it should stop water going into the drain
Good thinking Steve I might get the heat gun on the frame and curve it slightly cheers mate 👌👍
The new shower/sieve combo looks awesome. Very neat build and seem to be working a treat. 👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻 Just wondering how many micron is the sieve screen?

I'm not sure mate as it was given to me but its quite small
