    One note to add now that I’ve sat down and watched the video. With up close shots in full HD you can see small tool marks, however in person, in your hand, you just can’t see them. So, no I’m not crazy lol, but everything is magnified in HD and you can see things you won’t see in person. 👍

    The quality of the fit and finish is superb. I would love to see a version of this in CPM Magnacut, CPM 3V, or CPM CruWear. I would also like to see Pete take on a different blade shape, like a wharncliffe or reverse tanto. Love compound grinds but, for an EDC variant of this, a thick blade stock that transitions into a flat or hollow grind would be badass! Would’ve been a bigger fan of this particular blade shape if the tip was more of a drop/clip point. I too, would also love to see a more EDC friendly version of this TANK. With a respectively thiccc (w/ three C’s) blade stock but, thin/light enough to carry. Add in a Timascus or Zircuti backspacer, pivot, and pocket clip!

      @@JimSkeltonKnives LOL, yes and no Jim. I like the design as is but, I’d like to see Pete try his hand at a few more designs. With his level of precision and attention to detail, I’d love to see him come out with more models. Besides, I only want to change the knife steel and slightly alter the blade geometry of the one in your video! Everything else was in reference to an EDC version.
      Btw, you should check out Tactical Pterodactyl!! Beautiful fixed blades if I do say so myself. And his prices are ungodly for what you get! I think you’d really appreciate Frankie’s work. I’m trying to snag one in this months drop.

    I think the theory behind a compound grind is to have a flat grind in front for a meatier, stronger tip for stabbing and then a hollow grind along the blade’s belly in order to enhance slicing ability... that’s why most makers do it that way.

  • @wcreview8227

    Gorgeous. Just a bit too 'shiny' on the frame IMO. If it were mine I'd want it as a distressed almost steam-punk tarnished bronze or copper finish with bright highlights and dark recesses... But yeah the milling and that crazy grind on the blade are phenomenal.

    Im a little slow on the uptake and was unaware that you are a knife maker! just checked out your stuff and its amazing! next time i get into a Fixed blade mood ill be looking you up.. Do you take custom requests?

    • @JimSkeltonKnives
      @JimSkeltonKnives  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      lol, yes. Custom based on my designs. I don't often make a brand new design based on design input from customers, I prefer to work within my own catalog, which already has a lot of models to choose from.

    The rounding of corners and some of the circular milling look like the radius tool was dull, theres a little lip at the end. Even with that, the machining looks great.Otherwise, I couldn't see much else that wasn't really extreme nick-picking. Looks pretty unique.

    @Knifenerd 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It's a beautiful piece but I'm not a huge fan of the logos everywhere. The design itself should be the easily recognizable logo/brand. At least the logo reduces weight on the handle. But I love it otherwise and would still buy it. What exactly is a "niggle" by the way....too close for comfort..haha. another great vid J!

  • @HikikomoriZone
    @HikikomoriZone 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I can't say for sure, but some parts of the knife look like they're not chamfered/edges aren't broken where they should. For example, the edges of the flipper tab and the top of the blade, as well as the edge of the clip. I'd imagine that's not great to feel and could tear up your pocket. Handle's edges are nicely rounded though.
    But maybe I'm wrong; I haven't handled it.

      lonleyfruitcake sometimes you gotta give something up in order to enjoy something else. Your murder rate is 5X less than ours, you don’t make up 10% of cities with the most homicides in the world, and I’d be very surprised if there was even 1 child on your entire continent who has to worry about getting shot while walking to school... I'm not going to support this maker. I sent him an email a long time back about ordering a knife and he couldn't have been bothered to reply to me. I don't know if it's just me but a lot of makers in the knife industry have very poor customer service, skike included.

      Mikel Neufeld If he didn’t reply, chances are that he never got the email. He’s just not the type of guy to ignore anyone. And I can’t think of anyone that would ignore someone who wants to pay them money.

    It better to look awesome for $1,000 its funny China can do the same CNC mill work on that handle and blade .. than a US knife maker and sell that for half the price or less

    • @georgecostanza2695
      @georgecostanza2695 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mc007Queen more like 1/4 the price; and it’s not being made by underaged slave labour either... factories there have to deal with unions, environmental regulations, and rising minimum wage requirements just like here. I love America, but our freedom isn’t free!

    20CV is a great daily steel but I warn everyone. Do not do any hard use on this knife. 20CV is a very brittle steel. It hold an amazing edge and has great resistance corrosion but is really brittle. Just a heads up to everyone.

    • @Halfcocked86
      @Halfcocked86 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      As a future customer i can say it does matter . I have a metric i stick to. Folding knives 1oz per inch of blade or less. Fixed blades i double that 2oz per inch of blade . I bend a little but not crazy. Just not carring a 7oz 3inch flipper.
