I’m sorry to hear that, but I would share don’t give up and sometimes it’s might take a couple of passes before you find the right fitter, the key thing to remember is just because you get fit, doesn’t necessarily mean you have to buy.
I have gone through two fittings in the last two years. Both done by same company, but at two different locations. One fit had me in clubs one inch over in length ( 38 for 7 iron), with a 63 degree lie angle. Second fitting result; 1/4 inch short, 61 degree lie angle. Distance, etc. was marginally different. I was confused by the results, so paid for the fitting and left. Lot of upselling going on even when I gave them my budget. I wish you were closer, lol. Thanks for the knowledge, it is very helpful. Willingness to pay for 6-GW in irons, $1200. Most asked $2100 for same six irons. Full 14 clubs, was asked for $5600.
200.00 a stick is very reasonable, and I don’t blame you there shouldn’t have been that big of a discrepancy with length, pretty sure you didn’t shrink.😀
If only you boys were in the Scottsdale, AZ area. Hard to find good and honest club fitters here who really have your best interest above their own. All I see and hear in town is upselling. If anyone here knows of a reputable club fitter in or near Scottsdale, please let me know as I’m in the market for new clubs. Cheers.
@SwingFit I absolutely love it! My friends used to laugh at me crack jokes about how old it is. The laughing stopped real quick af5er I was striping it down the middle almost as far as they were hitting driver. One of my buddies is trying to find 1 for himself, now.i like the small head, and weight of it ,some dont, it feels and looks good to my eyes. Besides being my fairway finder what I really love is the distinct sound. It is definitely my favorite club that I've ever owned.
My last fitter gave me 4 different heads to swing and then said okay. I have this last year model that will work for you on my shelf. 😂Oh and no lie variants, just standard.
That is a without question a crappy result. I’m ok with comparing last year to this year so individuals can make an informed decision, but in the end the recommendation should always be about the number and analysis, even if the choice is I like this option as it’s a good mix of performance and cost. I’m Sorry to hear that happened, if your ever in the area look us up, as I’m about to make a huge announcement next week.😀
I guess I'm playing some dinosaurs. 4 to pw are Ping i3's. Still work, and when I get in to be fit for new irons, I'm very curious to see how much of an improvement there will be with today's tech. BTW, Great video and breakdown of rhe fitting process
My oldest club is my putter a half mallet putter over 35yrs old with a new face insert. 12 handicap here and would not upgrade my putter to a newer one.
It’s a really good question and there appears to be enough interest that we are going to do a video sharing some practical tips. Thanks again for the support and kind words.
20 year old titliest 3 wood is the oldest club I still use. I bought a new stealth last yesr for more distance, but my smash factor is higher with the old Titliest.
Sometimes this just happens and when it does I never try to argue, dispute or rationalize why it is what it is, we just need to know it is. Thanks for sharing.
They are really much better, the new T’s are small and I don’t imagine selling many of them if I’m lucky maybe 1-2 sets but the S’s we should do pretty good with.
My most expensive golf club was a custom built Bobby Grace Side Saddle putter....better part of $1000!!! Upside is I putt lights out with this monster!!
Cost really becomes irrelevant especially if it does exactly what it’s suppose to and from the sound of it you have a great level of confidence with that bad boy.
Had a fitting in Oct and chose Midsize grips assuming they wld match the swing weight in the build.... WRONG they claimed they couldn't because they don't have tip weights. I had to re grip some to standard and add lead tape to wedges to get close to suitable swing weights. When fitted using a 7 iron it always seems a risk to trust that the wedges will be OK.
Very good point, traditional wedges should be fit separately, if it’s a PW or GW in the iron set then they can be built off of the 7 iron specs as those wedges are more like irons then they are a traditional wedge. I’m shocked about the tip weights that’s a pretty lame excuse. Thanks for sharing.
Would you rather get fit by someone that has been coaching you for the last 6 months or by someone that has never seen you swing before to get fresh set of eyes on your swing?
Fresh set of eyes, what I will share with you is technique and gear are two distinct skills on their own, and each require time and experience to become proficient. With that said it’s hard to find someone who is really good at both. I do believe the gap is closing but I would say it’s the fitter to instructor that’s closing faster, as the fit side requires so much more, not only do you need the knowledge of the technology but you also need the technology and the fit matrix to become an expert in that space as that takes a much larger investment. So my advice is search for a fitter who can compliment the instruction and vice versa. You achieve this by disclosing what your concerned about and what your currently working on. Lastly if you have a coach/instructor who says they can fit but one doesn’t have a launch monitor or a vast fitting matrix to try a bunch of options then just tell him you would feel better if you were able to compare more brands and more options to make a lot informed decision before investing a single dollar.great question.
Ive been too one fiting for my putter. I knew the price it was gonna be about. Never going to the fitting place again cause intalked to him about an average iron fitting price and he said 3k amd i was like hell no. Proce was $550 with fitting fee and the putter (Evenroll)
I got a new Motore shaft stiffer but better feel and have it turned up to 16 degrees to help launch conditions. It just does what I need it to do.@@SwingFit
@@seegarsmkr there’s nothing wrong with a retro fit if it achieves the outcome. In fact you just gave me an idea for an upcoming video. Thanks for comments and support.
I would really like to get fitted but I can’t seem to hit indoors. I don’t know what it is, lighting, mats, alignment for the target or just stressing out. I just can’t seem to relax and hit my normal routine. Very frustrating. Wish you were in Austin.
Are you better off paying for the fit or going someplace fitting is included if you buy clubs? I feel if it is included, they are going to try an upsell.
So funny that you ask, I would 100% agree with that statement, you know what they say nothing is ever free they will somehow find a way to recoup that cost the unfortunate thing is some fitters will have about 6-7 opportunities to get it back.
So we do this all the time and what makes it easier for us is we fit off of the 7 iron which is a little more closer to the cutover. The question we need to determine is if the combo is going to be a 2/5 split or a 3/4 split. So I will try both 7 irons to see which one we need. But it’s more easier then one might think. In regard to how we are able to just fit for the 7 or 6 iron, is simple we only need the one club to determine the build specs for the rest of the irons as they are meant to compliment one another so as long as the specs were identified correctly during the fit an experienced builder can easily build the surrounding irons. Great question.
Great video! I did not have the best fitting experience

Got fitted there today. Can attest that he's the MAN!
My 7 iron went from 155 to 170 with less dispersion!
Thanks for sharing bud. I’m really glad you gave us an opportunity as I know your game is only going to get better..

I bought some used clubs after mine broke. I knew they were old but I finally looked them up. Titelist 962b from 1993….. my clubs are older than I am
That’s crazy, but I have also seen some nice relics as well.

1981 ping copy 9 iron converted to a chipper
3 back surgeries and a 4 way neck fusion
Still can play pretty much

That’s pretty steep. I can do a full bag set for 3500-4000
My oldest club is a Callaway Epic SZ 3 wood.
Good one back in the day.

My current irons are from, I think, 2004. Nike Pro Combo Os. I am thinking about being fit into something new.
I went out and hit some T150’s….did they ever feel nice!
Nikes were good. I really hated to see them depart the way they did, but I would say finding something better shouldn’t be. Problem. 😀

Scotty Cameron Futura putter 2003
How do I get fit for a combo iron set when the fitting is with a 6 iron only?
You don't get fit for every club at a fitting, you have to take a leap of faith at some point. No way a fitter can cover all scenarios.
Great question.
So how then do you know what the top iron in the bag should be - i.e. at what point do you transition to hybrids or fairway woods?@@SwingFit
Sorry for the delay, you know when consistency starts to drop off meaning more bad shots, and poor height. Those are my two red flags
All my wedges are made by Scratch golf, only ones I can consistently hit.
That’s awesome to hear, something to be said about the quality of work and confidence.
Tommy Armour 855 2 iron. lol

Over $5000 PXG fitting
We use to sell PXG but found for the cost they simply performed marginally better but it was never night and day to justify the expense.
Many club fitters are primarily club sellers. Buyer beware.
Without question, its definitely in the consumers best interest to do a little research before going down the fitting path.
