    The curly girl method lost me when they said you shouldn't brush your hair. As someone who develops rats nests...its a no from me.

      Literally, I went to a hair dresser for the first time and she said I should only brush my hair while wet just to keep the frizz away, she also said i don’t have to shampoo my hair every time I wash it, I just need to keep it topped up with leave in conditioner every time it’s wet. I am the only person in my family with curly hair so I’m only just learning how to take care of my curls at 20 years old, my hair feels bliss even though I haven’t washed it since my appointment 4 days ago

      Oh I always brush my hair while soaking wet with product. I just stay away from sulfates, parabens, bad alcohols etc If I do use silicone I make sure to clarify. So I guess I loosely follow it 🤷🏻‍♀️

      Same. They said “don’t brush your hair, or only brush it upside down when it’s wet.” Well I have spinal and head meadical issues, so that doesn’t work for me. I have to brush my hair standing up straight and in front of the mirror when I get out of the shower. ❤

    We have very similar hair texture and density and it's *so* hard to find videos and techniques specific to fine hair. Thank you for sharing what works for you, because "curly girl method" has never worked for me, so I continued destroying my hair with heat instead of trying to find something that works. Thank you for this!!

    My whole YT experience had been people saying their hair is thin and fine & then seeing them with THICK luscious hair. I always felt like ok I’m the last person on the planet with thinner hair. I’ve always had thin hair but, the last 3 years the place we lived had the worst water and my hair has fallen at an exponential rate. I have no curl texture left and I’m trying to repair my hair but following any other curly method leaves my hair GREASY, clumped together and stringy because it’s just too much product for the lack of hair I have.
    So THANK YOU for this. Seriously. Your hair is literally my goal and you’ve shown it’s achievable for those of us who don’t have a whole whole lot of hair. Thank you !

    I enjoyed this video. I am elderly, and have spent a lifetime trying to get my curls to do what I want. I grew up in the 60s, when straight hair was the style. Ohhhh... how I fought my curls! I didn't really embrace them until I was over 50. Now I enjoy them. However, menopause left my hair very thin. And it's always been fine, so it's difficult to get much body and volume. I don't use a diffuser, but think I'll give it a try one of these days. I tend to wash it, put on some gel, and scrunch... then let it air dry and lightly comb it out with a fat-toothed comb. That's it... that is all I do. I don't wash it every day, but I do wet it and start over. Sleeping on it flattens it out too much to save. Anyway... thanks for the video. Keep up the good work!

    Oh hey.. just dropping in to say I got up later than intended, had an extended wash, got two kids breakfasted and ready for school, watched your video, and am now having THE BEST CURLY HAIR DAY **EVER** - and I've still got 20 mins before I log on and start work!
    THANK YOU. After a few years of wearing my hair straight, I've gone back to curly and have been trying something along the lines of CGM with limited success. You've got very similar hair to me, and it looks like - admittedly with better products - how I always used to do my hair is the right way to do my hair - who knew? 🤦🏻‍♀️

    I have always had long thick curly hair but I used olaplex just a few times and it completely wrecked it. It felt like chewing gum, it thinned right out, my ends were fried. So these thonner curly hair videos have been a lifesaver for me. I have used so many different hair products I'm the part but none have had the effect that olaplex had. Even having covid didn't produce ad much shedding as olacrap. I'm part of a class action lawsuit against olaplex along with thousands of others😔

    This is so helpful, thank you! I have fine, thin hair that's wavy/a little curly, and like you, the curly girl method just does not work for me (frankly, I don't have the energy for all that fuss). I did find that my hair has gotten a little thicker and healthier, and a little curlier, after switching to a sulfate-free shampoo and a silicone-free conditioner that's designed for fine, curly hair, but I also don't use heat too often. I'll have to try some of your other tips though!

    My hair is thin too and i can't add too much product either! It's so hard for me to find products that work on my hair. Typically I try to find smoothing products because I feel like that tames the frizz and makes the waves / curls want to form. I also just use whatever products work for me. And yes that might mean silicone too!

  • @Cat-qo3ht
    @Cat-qo3ht 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    I'm old enough to be your mom 😁 but I have to say you and I have the same kind of hair. I've let my hair go natural (no more dye) and I'm embracing my waves, too. My hair, like yours, has always had tighter waves around my face but sad ones on the back top of my head. Plus, my part continues down the back of my head! Ugh. Well, this is my first time watching one of your videos and I appreciate how real you are about needing to help some of your curls along whether it be twisting them or using the curling wand. Recently I used the cloth hair wraps with snaps on the ends (microfiber, padded curler type things), sprayed the back of my hair and put in about seven of those curlers and slept in them. The next day those curls were perfect and matched the rest of my hair AND lasted for two days.

    Your curls look great! It's very similar to my hair, though I'm a 40yr old guy. Now, I mean no offense when I say this, but in the beginning of the video your hair does look frizzy, is there anything you've found that works to keep your curls more in-tact or less frizzy? I've noticed that unless I put something like pure coconut oil or mineral oil in my hair, that it just kinda frizzes out however it wants.
    Now, my hair IS thinning on top, thanks male pattern baldness! So my sides and back are how my hair USED to be, and those curls are always fine, thick, non-frizzy, but the hair on top... It is just like how yours is! It agrees with me on certain days, no matter my routine. So yeah, are there any techniques or products you've discovered that help when you have very fine curly hair?

    So many ppl have been gate keeping curly hair recently (especially bc of tik tok) and I’m on my “might have curly hair” journey. It makes it awkward to talk about cuz I just know ppl would be trying to tell me my own hair type lol also ppl just assume thin hair can’t be curly ig bc we take care of it differently/use different techniques? Idk lol

    I struggle to find helpful products that don't have fragrance added (can't tolerate due to my sensitivities). If you have recommendations for products that can help with humidity/frizz, I would love to know. I live in FL so it's a struggle (and I have fine, thin hair too, so too much weighs it down, but not enough of the right thing and it looks gross too due to humidity, etc!!Just wish products wouldn't add perfume because then I would have so many options.)

    Thank you for this! My hair has thinned out massively in the past 5 or so years since hitting 30. It used to be insanely thick so it's been a wild transition. I've tried one of the methods where you use Shea Moisture Curl Smoothie and some Twist and Lock Gel... but I think those products might be too heavy for my hair, cuz it doesn't turn out very well. It's so stringy. I'm gonna try your method next. It's frustrating because my hair looks pretty nice after I've put all the stuff in and scrunched and stuff... but then it just doesn't dry looking right. Though to be fair, I usually just air dry. So annoying!

    I feel like the CGM was meant to help us out, to really give us answers as to how we can get the very best out of our hair- if we choose! Not for us to bully each other around with! People online are SO mean about curly hair, and most hate that I’ve gotten is from people with straight hair. Wth. I’m so very thankful to have hair at all, and I’m thankful if my hair curls one day or decides to just wave. That’s what I’ve got and I’m happy to have it. I don’t need anyone gate keeping and gaslighting me about the texture of my hair.

    I tried CGM about 4 yrs ago, despite never straightening my hair & knowing how to keep my curls under control... I saw all these amazing before & afters & wondered what it could do for me! Within 6 months, I went from curly to slightly wavy hair, my scalp was getting these gross scabs, & I began shedding. like a LOT. So I said screw that! One thing I'm grateful for is that I learned a LOT about ingredients & formulas, & turns out I'm pretty fascinated by the chemistry behind it! My hair loves silicone but actually doesn't do well with heavy butters & heavy oils & NO waxes! But that's what my experimentation taught me about MY curls. Anyone trying to sell a one size fits all curl routine is doing exactly that - trying to SELL $$$
    Everyone's hair is different, there's no such thing as a universally "bad" ingredient. Everytime I see someone in the comments section of a video where the creator used silicone 😱, starting a huge lecture about "no but silicone actually IS bad for you, you should NEVER use them" I want to smack my phone.
    Thanks Lorena Massey 😒 (inventor/author of the CGM & "curly girl handbook")
    Her infomercial is scary. it's from back in the day, but if anyone wants to be freaked out, try to find it 😬😬

    I also was trying to do the curly hair method but it didn't work for me. One of my problems is that I lost a lot of hair which is one of the reasons I don't have my curls as before plus I have very thin hair. I do use a lot less products now and guess what my curls started coming out again. its still not as before but definitely you don't need all the things they advertise. I have a shampoo/conditioner, oil, curly gel, and a bonding hair mask. most importantly take collagen. The curly hair method is not necessary. I think a LOT of those curly girls are using a curling wand... they just won't admit it

    • @bleachedout805
      @bleachedout805 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Most women of European and African decent likely use those to get loose curls. Most middle eastern women have this hair type naturally. I have never even seen a curl wand until watching videos like this and again it is mostly black and white women.

      yes. I don't follow cgm. I towel dry, brush, and apply any treatments or oils then go about my day, or style as needed

    Great video. I just discovered I have curly/wavy hair (who knew?) and have been trying different techniques for styling. My hair is thin and the front that frames my face stays kind of straight, the rest, especially the back is quite curly. I am going to invest in a skinny wand like you used, it looks great!

      yeah, that sounds like an issue with your cut. it sounds like your stylist needs to section your hair properly.

    Somehow I like curly hair on everyone, except ME! If I do go the curly hair route, after sleeping on it it turns into a gigantic mess. Sometimes it's easier to straighten, as it stays pretty straight as long as it doesn't get wet from humidity or sweating in hot climates. I can only look at myself curly for a day before I can't stand it another minute. Alot of people think it's easier to leave the hair curly, but I don't. If I straighten my hair I don't have to wash it again for 3 to 5 days as my hair is pretty thick. If its curly it's a daily routine, which is too time consuming. Thanks for the curly hair tips anyway. Love your videos contents...💖

    • @ImMalloryBrooke
      @ImMalloryBrooke  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Curly hair definitely takes more upkeep and I agree with you! When it comes to having a style last for a few days, a blow out and style lasts much longer.

    Hi Mallory, I'm new to your channel... My hair is fine /wavy so when I wash it, it gets like 'matted' on the ends...I leave the conditioner on a few minutes to take out tangles but still a problem.. Could you recommend a good conditioner that will provide 'slip' and a pre- treatment before you shampoo?

    • @ImMalloryBrooke
      @ImMalloryBrooke  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I recommend the Kerastase Curl Manifesto conditioner for the days you want to wear your natura curls, but Pureology Strength shampoo and conditioner is incredible for fine tangly hair. The shampoo isn’t drying, and also gives you a nice slip feel. I’ve been using these for years👏🏻
