I love how everyone in the room was happy that Barbie won. Barbie was no doubt a cinematic event and a cultural impact of 2023! Margot Robbie looks stunning.

I like Emma Stone, but I am disgusted that "Poor Things" won best comedy when it claims that you must have raunchy, horny and shameless to show female sexual freedom using fruits and veggies. Emma's next time on SNL she needs to do a skit with a Sodomy Salad Bar. Allowing male writers and directors to decide what you need to show female sexual freedom isn't the way to go.

The most ridiculous movie of 2023 winning the box office award. Teaches us some lessons about what million dollars worth advertising can do. And few lies by well respected personal like greta and margot robbie. It was not a cinematic masterpiece but an advertising stunt. And the fact that they made up this award just so that barbie would have some award is so sickening

The men going towards the back so the women can shine, is so on theme. So happy for Barbie. Female led stories being at the front of cinema should be something that is celebrated passionately. I hope to see more. First Role of Margot’s that I truly believed in her star power.

I think they submitted every category but the GG and others don't accept all submission. Even they refused to accept barbie as an original screenplay, forced it into adaptation. Because barbie existed already?

Well, it was a rebirth of cinema attendance for young adults, since a year after the pandemic. At least in my country not a lot of young people wanted to go to theaters before Barbie.🤔

The summer movie event was really a cool thing to see, to see the barbie film cast encourage people to see Oppenheimer and vice versa.

You would have to be blind to not see the cultural impact that Barbie movie has done months before the movie screening and even months after they stop promoting it. I was expecting more of a typical Barbie/Ken romcom. But with the creativity that was put into the film, I ended up being a graceful loser

I'm so happy for this win, but also unsure how to feel about this category in and of itself. Like, is this just a way for the GG to include more "popular" movies among the noms/winners, in order to feel more relevant and mainstream - but without actually awarding any particular *aspect* of the film in question? I guess I just don't want this category to start feeling like the GG's version of the "kids table."
Also that others are black while Margot is shining in pink
And maybe there won't be a movie every year that can really deserve this award. It's great for movies like Barbie that achieve so broadly overall, but can't compete for votes against a movie that's dripping with high drama. Jim Cameron's movies come to mind, highly innovative, well crafted, successful, nails the broadest audience every time but not enough misery to get the drama crowd and they don't look enough like old Hollywood to get the purists.

Why can't films be awarded for box office achievements? The only reason studios make these films in the first place is to generate as much money as possible. It's getting tiring seeing all the awards go to movies that only 20 people saw.
I was a tomboy in the 60's so I wanted GI Joes (Had the one's with the fuzzy hair) and thankfully, my parents allowed Santa to bring them to me. My GI Joes would pick up my sister's Barbies in his jeep and go on dates to the canteen.
Sorry I didn't get to see the movie this summer, but was so happy to see an entertainment event-other than the Super Bowl-with so much universal appeal. Like it or not, it gave so many people of diverse backgrounds something to talk about.
