DISCLAIMER: It seems some creators may have been paid to play/talk about Mirage. I was not. I have never been paid to review something, and if for some reason I do it in the future, I will communicate that fully.
Just also want to mention that when I said “I know they heard me but I can’t make them listen” I wasn’t trying to imply that Ubisoft should have or even could have reworked a fundamental part of the game. I was just trying to say that I’m doing what I can to advocate for what I and the fans want both in reviews and behind the scenes.

Yeah, but it's nice to hear.
I think it would be very hard for the team to do this, the base (Valhalla) is built and they can only change it so much.
Hopefully this team goes on to make another on now with complete focus on those things. I bet they know and I bet many of them also want to build that game.

It started as a DLC for Valhalla.... You don't randomly get a team and put them working on a base that is almost 10 years old lmao

@@rafatvaz I don't give a flying fuck if it started as a dlc for Valhalla. The parkour was ass in that game too. If you learn to read I stated that they need to use the parkour from unity. I didn't ask if it was made for Valhalla or anything about game engines or devs. Not my fault they're trying to make a new game by using a bad one for base design.

It's a bummer that the parkour is limited mechanically but I am really glad to see the world design and stealth getting back on track, which, for me personally, is more important. My understanding is that this is a new team so hopefully they get to work on another one and are able to focus in on parkour systems for that (I'm guessing "Red" will be in line with the other RPG's so not expecting much out of that one with parkour, and have no clue what Hexe is even gonna be so . . .).

    • @lowestpoly64
      @lowestpoly64 ปีที่แล้ว

The parkour looks like imo all it needs is more animation variety. Because of the insane emphasis it seems to put on grounded stealth and emergent social stealth, I don't feel Bordeaux needed to add Unity levels of parkour to this one, especially considering the limited time or resources they likely had. Hopefully they fix that in Red though, especially considering the potential that playing a Shinobi could have.

@@ac_nerd9794 It's more the fact that when they say "back to our roots", especially in this context, they're talking about mainly AC1-ACR (arguably even up to AC4). Idk how "roots" would be seen as Unity and Syndicate, roots tend to mean beginning, not the 7th/8th instalments of a franchise. I personally do hold those "mystical" aspects of Unity and Syndicate against those games, especially as they have no real in-lore explanation other than "animus go brrrr". I am so glad that Baghdad was designed to be as diverse and dense as it was. One of my gripes throughout the entire AC series (at least with the 9 games I've played) is that while the parkour systems almost always felt fun and unique, the environments felt a little rough. In almost every game, I found my flow of movement being stopped and inhibited by some street that's too wide, a river that has no means of crossing aside from a bridge 80 feet in the other direction, or coming across a street that was objectively faster to run through than taking the rooftops. But with Mirage so far, it seems like parkour really is the most effective system of traversal in the game, and like it will consistently be open and dynamic.

What we really need is a game similar to Unity and Syndicate. If not that, then at the very least something similar to the Ezio Triology or 3,4 and Rogue.

The stealth focus is nice, but the combat looking bad and lacking any cinematic flair, as well as the parkour not getting an actual upgrade, are dealbreakers for me.
This attempt at capturing the magic of the old games was either half-hearted or it didn't have enough budget to fully break away from Valhalla's DNA.

They are going back to something closer to Assassin’s Creed 1, where you couldn’t climb everything and making a getaway was a bit more strategic. A bit more planning than just jumping in, killing and button spamming up any old wall.
As a long time Assassin’s Creed fan, from the first game onwards, this looks like it is finally realising the potential of playing as an assassin. They have reworked the sneak, detection and social kill systems - which have been lacking in the franchise for some time - and if there was any part which really needed rework it is those bits.

The thing about you telling them about that parkour needs revamping/improvement is that Bordeaux probably can't do anything about it. Which is why they don't answer. They are a smaller Ubisoft studio who were given the task of making the Valhalla/Odyssey template as good as they could(in a certain timeframe), when it comes to being and classic AC game. I don't think they received the resources, nor the time to revamp the parkour system entirely. The same with the combat. I think Mirage is clearly a side project that Ubisoft gave to studio Bordeaux, while Montreal and Quebec focus on Codename Red. I definitely expect for Codename Red to be built from the ground up. Probably on a new engine. New combat, new parkour. I do believe that Bordeaux would have revamped these systems if they were given the time and money to do so.

I don’t understand why you thought this would have unitys parkour, we have always know that Mirage was being built in valhallas engine and when it began development it was supposed to be a dlc before they changed it for ragnarok and made it its own game. To add a different parkour system they would need to completely strip the game down and start again on another engine and when they were done, Ac Red would have been released so it would be pointless. Mirage is simply a stand in in between Valhalla and red and to expect a completely revamped parkour system for a game built on the same engine as Valhalla is unrealistic.

Other than the first gameplay trailer, I was trying not to spoil myself with anything since I was very excited for it, I only watched this video because I was excited to see some parkour gameplay. I didn't at all expect it to be Unity's level of parkour but I keep hearing them saying they're bringing it to their roots so I had minimal expectations for the parkour to be anywhere from AC1 to AC Unity or anything remotely not automated in terms of those words, so I was hopeful and excited and I knew I would've been more than just happy if it were any kind of parkour pre Origins but after watching this video, this is in any meaning of the words just a condensed Vallhalla.

I've been skeptic about the parkour since the first trailer, and I see my suspicions were correct, I'm glad the world design allows for a better "playground", and that its a bit faster, but at its base it's still Valhala's Parkour, which means dissapointing. Seems like that for every step forward Ubi takes 2 stepbacks.

I played the whole game through stealth and every area was a stealth puzzle, also because you couldn’t one take down the highest level enemies. At 2:03, if you were able to climb just a bit higher than that beam Basim would've likely landed on it since they're the exact same from Valhalla based on appearance. That's the frustrating part of about the ejects in the new games. They're rare to perform right, as in going where you want to go, or hard to control because of the limiting aspect about it in comparison to the older games. It was cool how you could be slightly lower than the spot where you're trying to land in the older games and see that your character still has enough strength to make the jump after ejecting. The rest of the parkour however, looks beautiful and a massive step-up from the past 3 games.
