      Awesome knowledge thank you!
      I use that same interface love it. I utilize an iPad and use GarageBand. Since I’m a full time RV, I don’t have the room for a desk top, but I really dig Studio One Pro. The only con I find with GarageBand is you can’t change the tempo throughout the composition.
      I found a plug in that analyzes your volume and gives you penalty’s points for when you want to add your music to platforms.

      for the beginners, garage band is the one to use ! Amazing drummer (not metal)
      amazing synth, ,brass, bass, horns, organs etc.
      great drum fills
      who really wants to have a complicated screen like reaper or other ? G band is the best

      Same here. I didn't live in the US so everything here is super expensive. I kinda decided to buy cheap but also worked. For example, for the audio interface, I just went with Behringer UM2 since it's the cheapest and it worked. Tho, need a bit of time to set it up properly which I don't mind. My guitar doesn't even pass the 50-dollar price tag.

      u gotta save that money😂 buying cheap/ affordable equipment only leads to being very quickly dissatisfied once you realize the difference in tone. There’s a reason this stuff costs the money that it does. It produces professional level quality, cheap sh will sound cheap. Compare the soundcloud bandlab freaks to mainstream artists
      cheap equipment should only exist for beginners/ intermediates, used to gain essential knowledge and experience you’ll need to make the expensive equipment sound it’s best. u don’t gotta drop 5k on a setup, but don’t search for bargains, there’s an obvious reason they’re bargains

    • @tooshiesty4066

      not trying to be rude, just being real. no sugar coating. it’s a brutal scene, if it wasn’t then everyone would be a guitarist. Not a profession for the weak, or the cheap😂 the ones who have the drive to bridge that gap, spend that money, are the badasses we know as guitarists, if it were cheap and easy we wouldn’t be badasses

    • @tooshiesty4066
      @tooshiesty4066 หลายเดือนก่อน

      but also don’t let that shit limit you, every guitarist was at one point dog shit and broke. it’s a right of passage to learn, improve and upgrade. just tough love young buck. ur already doing better than 99% of people just by seeking the information ur seeking, now obsess over it and before long you’ll have a setup and be recording bangers

    • @Josephduganmusic
      @Josephduganmusic หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tooshiesty4066everyone is a guitarist haha 😉 also I’d recommend just getting a four track and learning your instrument. I’ve spent over 20 years learning the saxophone and still always improving. Don’t be in a rush to release music, learn what it means to be a musician and when you have something to say it won’t really matter what it’s recorded on. Recording, mixing are different disciplines than performing or writing, they all take time. You have to decide where do I want to put my effort and where do I want to excel. Best of luck to everyone.

    So cool! I’ve been out of the music business for years now, but in the 80’s I set up my recording studio with an 8-track Tascam multitracker.
    (Cassette tape). It was lots of work. I played the rhythm, lead, and bass guitar on separate tracks and was lucky enough to have a drummer in my band.
    I mixed a few nice demos but because of the inherent human-error factor, we of course had to overdub tracks until we got it right.
    That’s obviously all changed now. Computers. I wish we would have had them back then. Very cool studio you have there and thanks for bringing me up to speed on the latest studio technology.

    Cool video! It's always fun to see how others work. In my studio im using the Focusrite i1820 and an RME 9652 when doing full bands. I'm a Protools guy, been using since 6.4. I use JBL LSR305 monitors. I reference check on some Advent 3" speakers that have a 5' subwoofer.
    My work flow is similar to yours, though I track guitars with a Helix rack. I have a patch setup where I use a model that gets the right vibe, then I also have two DI paths setup. I record 3 tracks simultaneously - model (center), DI (L), DI (R). For the DI tracks I use Brainworx amp plugins. Then I repeat for the next take, if needed.
    I also use EZDrummer, EZBass, and EZKeys. I will often record bass live, DI, then use Overloud Mark Studio, Helix Native. Or Brainworx plugins to get my bass tones. Often the bass will be duplicated across three tracks. In those instances I keep the dry DI, then a cleaner bass tone followed by something with more drive. I blend to taste.
    With drums I'll build my tracks in EZDrummer. I'll keep them stereo, but utlize two AUX channels - one for parallel compression, the other for reverb. Those are controlled by a VCA master and then sent to a buss track. I turn off the reverb and compression in the EZDrummer mixer.
    With EZKeys I tend to use it to write my own chord progressions, then I apply a playing style from the MIDI libraries. I save the track in Ezkeys as a MIDI file and drop it back in Protools. Then I'll use Arturia's V Collection 7 or something from my East/West sound libraries for an instrument.
    When tsljing drums, I mentioned using VCA masters and buss channels. I do this with all my instrument groups. It allows me to use less overall processing and makes mixing with automation easier.
    For mastering, I use the Plugin Alliance Mix & Master bundle. I'll add saturation then the bx Mastering Desk plugin.

    Hmmm, personally I own two simple practice amps, the Peavey VIP30 and Spark. I basically choose a good preset on either one (the VIP, has become my default guitar amp while the Spark is my default Bass amp).
    Then I use a direct box, recording the amp via an SM57, and my direct guitar.
    Ive found that mixing the amps signal with a virtual amp is pretty satisfying. On one hand my amp was close enough so its a good reference tone but really by coloring my virtual amp I retain the nuance from my original amp.
    I havent been working that quickly though, so I have more songs written than recorded so I have some time to think ahead about the kind of setting Ill use on my amp (if none of the presets is good enough, which most of the time will do)

My sis and I have a TH-cam channel we've been recording on acoustic guitar since last year and we got 218 subs, but the problem is I wanted to cover electric guitar music like Avenged Sevenfold, Archenemy and Metallica and I don't have audio interface but a YAMAHA mixer, Lyra recording microphone and Ableton 10 live DAW. I tried to cover one of Metallica songs last year it didn't go well because every time I hit my strings along with the backing track it's not on the timing at my DAW EVEN THOUGH I was playing along and listening to it in my headphones it just delays and the worst experience I had last year.

    One thing I've noticed is I seem to have to use a gate more often than I should for my guitar plug-in. This is true for multiple guitars, all high end. I don't think my playing is that messy, so I'm curious what all causes that and ways to reduce it?

    Great video thank you, I had a question. Over the years playing on and off I’ve had the same issues about losing inspiration because of all the adjustments and plug ins etc. I’m just a basement musician and I want to record my actual setup. In the past I used protools and it’s not fun to use. Here’s my question. I love my analog setup I have, I want to keep it simple. I’m considering just buying a Mac mini and using garage band. Can I just use a microphone to record my amp OR run my pedals into an input and just use garage band to record? I just want to make songs and record them not master them. I was looking to buy a Mac mini down the line and I see they offer Logic Pro. What’s the easiest way for at home musician to compose for fun? A guitarist who likes his actual amps and pedals doesn’t want to mess around with plug-ins too much? Thanks

    What pc do you use? What if I use multiple ezmix/neural dsp plugins and low latency recording? What’s the minimum specs I need? Thanks!

    What about a computer based setup for practicing guitar? I’d like something to slow down selections to help me perfect them.
