    I saw the Toxic Avengers movies before the Toxic Crusaders cartoon and toyline had come out.

      I was just a tiny baby at the time, but I know I always saw the tape at the rental center

    I remember having the original Toxie action figure back in 1991. This one is super-nostalgic for me. I randomly found one at Walmart marked down for $12.

      Surprising that these were showing up in the collectors area in Wal-Marts at all. Great luck getting is marked down as well.

    I'd like to know why Playmates didn't do this "reissue"? Seems like it would be something they'd want to do this they are busy doing all the TMNT reissues.

      I think it's far less known and popular, so they allowed to to go to another company.
      Playmates is cautious on which Turtles figures they remake, so a weird show like this they may not have wanted to risk making.

    Impressive packaging. Never knew they made an action figure based on the cartoon version of Toxic Avenger. I can almost feel the stickiness on your hand haha.

      More wet than sticky but not easy to wash away either. The original stuff must have been similar, no wonder I was never allowed to get any. I suppose I should show the few others I have before more of these remakes come out.

    A very frustruating figure, as far as I'm concerned. The significant height difference makes no sense to me, nor does the bizarre decision to omit the flag and the belt decal, like they just couldn't be bothered. I don't see it as a reissue if they had such an ambivalent attitude, just a new Toxie that resembles the original. Nevertheless, an excellent review video🙂

    I have a couple original in the box.

      They are pretty awesome in package, plus all the tiny accessories are safe that way.

    Still a thicker slime than the Men in Black figures came with- which was basically green water

    • @MBXfilms
      @MBXfilms  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I get the effect but that makes it a one time use being so watery. The blobs that dried just left a green spot. No thickness left, just the color left. Mostly water for sure. But it's a surprising bonus to include since even the original didn't come with any. I was able to demonstrate it at least that way.

    Never grew up with _Toxic Crusaders,_ but the design - aesthetically and functionally - is great. Not so much a fan of the slime, but that's at least something I could avoid. 😅 I mean... wow, Playmates nailed what action figures really *should* be, y'know?
    When I think of action figures to actually *play* with, I think of Playmates. I have a small collection of the *2012 TMNT* figures, but they're more or less the same format as these. They're so well-thought out. Perfectly articulated, sturdy, colourful, great sculpts, AND they come with plenty of appropriate accessories. So many figures now miss the mark with those.
    I especially like the proportions of these toys - leans more into being a little more 'grounded', relatively speaking. 😂

      This line was another that the figure designers did more than necessary, as they have far more details than the cartoon models. I know I was surprised at the Turtles figures extra wrist articulations and such that I would not see on many other figures back then. Toxie has the same thing, though this one has less leg movement, but I was always just going to stand and display them now so it's not a big omission for me. If I was super serious about the line I would hunt down the old ones. But these are a great opportunity I think.

      @MBXfilms It's strange to me when wrist joints are missing on figures. Ankles I can do without if the hips and knees have some range, but no wrists is actually oddly inconvenient.
      Yeah, the leg thing is a bit weird, considering they went hell for leather to get everything else right. 😅 But as you say, it's not intrusive.
      Oh definitely. RePros have a lot of value in this day and age. I mean I've been looking at eBay and prices are steep for second figures.
      I know it's not quite the same, but the *MotU Origins* figures were a godsend to me. I like the original 1980s He-Man design, but I wasn't big on the prospect of that old articulation and plastic quality. Then, the new ones come about with modern materials and tooling while keeping same aesthetic. Outstanding!
      I'd personally love repros of the 1995 _Earthworm Jim_ figures, though.

      @@DoctorInk20 Yes I've enjoyed the Origins since I never got to have any of the old figures. Some of the remakes of Ninja Turtles have been nice to get here and there, they are even the same size.

    All of the bandoliers seem to be fitted upside down out of the factory, not seen a single review or figure thats had it arrive right. Its a decent figure but has some QA issues and bits missing that prevent it being superior to the original IMO.

    • @MBXfilms
      @MBXfilms  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah no belt buckle or flag option, but a few spots painted in that should have been before. Less leg articulation also. It's still worth getting for the price versus paying a lot for an old one for me. I usually prefer the original but there is a point where it's a little crazy to do unless it's your number 1 favorite. This is just one of many toys I remember playing with as a kid.
