    Nice, I only drove this track a day or so and got it down to a pretty consistent 1:34 and the occasional 1:33 if I really push. My race pace is around 1:35 ish. Very fun track and I really enjoy the vee. Thanks for the track guide!

      @@Sambo_iRacing I just checked, the only VEE series events in my iRacing Up Coming list is still at Summit Point. This is as of March 22, 2024 at 9AM Pacific time. Not sure when they exactly get released here. I'll try and keep and eye out and let you know.

      Hi Mitch, on the video I show you how to start test sessions from the Vee schedule in the UI. Click on the Vee but rather than loading a race at Summit, click on “schedule” then week 3 (Winton) and you can load into it from there (at the end of the intro I show you how at 1:11)

      @mitchlewis535 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes that’s how I practice for a Vee event. Learned it from you.
      But for some reason here on the west coast of the United States, Week 3 at Winton Motor Raceway doesn’t start until March 26th. I took a screenshot of the schedule but TH-cam doesn’t allow for photos.

      @Sambo_iRacing  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Are you saying “test drive” is greyed out? I know for a fact that west coast does allow it buddy as a mate was running it yesterday. Just click on test drive even if it’s greyed out.

  • @simeonhaha

    Have experience in sim racing for the past 4 years but only started iRacing a month ago. I've been using auto-blip since auto-clutch since I've got a Logitech G29 with Fanatec Clubsport V3 pedals (funny combination, I know) and my clutch isn't working. And while on Tsukuba and Rudskogen I managed to reach your times (and even beat them, I was winning practically every race), here and at Okayama my best is 2-3 tenths off yours. But I've been racing top split and my average lap time is really, really good, even if my one-lap pace isn't that great. Also, I'd never raced on any of these tracks before, so it's been a challenge for sure.
    Anyway, your guides have been very helpful - though I've noticed we have different driving styles so I usually practice for an hour or two before watching your videos otherwise I start copying your lines and it feels weird to me, lol. But these vids have definitely made me faster! You're a real one, Sambo.

    • @Sambo_iRacing
      @Sambo_iRacing  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Cheers mate, re the lap times, just be aware to basically ignore all laptimes during a race, the draft can be worth up to about 1.3 seconds in the Vee so always try and gauge where you are pace-wise from testing by yourself or your qualy laps. Not sure if you're on discord but I always use the iracing stats discord to check the top 10 qualy times in the world for this weeks track to see how I compare (currently in 3rd at Winton with a 1:33.838 that was slightly faster than my guide lap - the record is a 1:33.75 this week)

      @simeonhaha 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Sambo_iRacing Yeah I was in the lobby when that lap happened, I think it was by Sam Gornall. And yeah, when I say average lap time I mean starting from p1 and finishing p1 with no lead changes so no slipstream. @Sambo_iRacing  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I totally get that but this isn’t an F1 game (or an F1 car), it’s a properly mapped VW engine. The very last thing you want to be doing is engine braking in car as you’ll just lock up the rear tyres.

    Sam - the wind is from the SW at 10-23mph. I believe that widget is following meteorological and aviation convention and reflecting that (although it's actually showing the wind coming directly from the South as you are talking about it). That straight at Winton goes to the NW so you actually do have a tailwind component and not a headwind component.

    • @Sambo_iRacing
      @Sambo_iRacing  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In the video the wind is a headwind (well coming from in front and slightly off the right) at 7kph. Each time you load in, due to the Tempest update, the wind will be different and it will fluctuate even during the session. When I ran a test from the schedule earlier today, the wind was different and I had a tail wind on the straight which had me nearly 1 1/2 tenths up on my delta between the start/finish line and T1.
      At present the RaceLabs widget points to where the wind is coming from (like a weather vane) but they may change this in their next update as a few people have said it’s confusing (on their discord)

    Thanks for these great videos. Quick couple of questions (if you have a mo): in order to achieve these times what sort of configuration are you using? I'm not asking about brands. What I mean is, are you using an H-pattern shifter, a foot-operated clutch pedal, etcetera? An what shift aids (if any) do you recommend?

    • @Sambo_iRacing
      @Sambo_iRacing  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hiya mate. My actual set up is a dual clutch wheel rim and paddle shifters. Before the dual clutch paddles, I used a button clutch.
      I genuinely don’t recommend using shift aids as they just cost you 2-4 tenths per lap (compared with a button or foot clutch), but I did use auto blip for about six months when I started out.

    i am very new to the game and this is my 2nd week playing, all this while im using auto clutch and i notice its not as fast as manual, for this week im learning manual and its very challenging. I am having difficulties on braking with left foot on certain turn especially on turn 9. do you actively braking with only left foot or switch to right foot on certain turns? Great guide man!!

    • @Sambo_iRacing
      @Sambo_iRacing  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes buddy. On the clutch thing, there’s two schools of thought, the first being that when you’re starting out, use auto clutch or auto blip and whilst it’s 3-4 tenths slower over a lap compared with the fastest guys using manual, it allows you to concentrate just on your throttle/brake and steering inputs whilst you learn the car and tracks.
      The second is to start manual clutching from the very start so you don’t fall into the trap of relying on driving aids. I personally ran the first six months using auto-blip until I was relatively fast and consistent. It’s the consistency that will help you the most in racing.
      As for braking, yes I only use my left foot. My clutch is a button clutch on the wheel rim.

    • @PgeeGG
      @PgeeGG 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Sambo_iRacing hey man thank you for the long explanation, appreciate your time for this. Now that you mention it, everything makes sense now for me.
      I think i would prefer the first option to focus on my driving to make sure im consistent on every corner and braking. I know i have lots to practice on braking/tail braking. Once consistent then i’ll find the rest of the 3-4 tenths by going manual, i’ll try the auto-blip option after this. I heard about the button clutch too, might give it a try to see how well i can adapt to it.
      This week track is very challenging, cant wait to apply all this method.
      Great tips man!! Thank you so much!
