I looked it up and you were right auto tune / pitch correction didnt start til the late 90s but I will say according to wikipedia pitch correction could be done. "Though widely popularized beginning in 1997, the process of pitch correction has been around since the 1970’s, starting with the Eventide H910 Harmonizer. Primitive as it was, the H910 did allow for slight pitch corrections, although the digital artifacts that it imposed on the sound were quite substantial the farther you strayed from the original pitch."
Mugnify always gives the most raw & sincere reactions with just his facial expressions alone! I just listen to the music and focus on the face, and that tells the whole story. You can tell when someone really feels what they are listening to just by focusing on their facial expressions. And this is one of the few reaction channels that I give a 👍to before the video even starts, because I know this man will never disappoint! This might be my first comment, but I binge watch this channels reactions all night long, sometimes. I love seeing a genuine raw reaction to good, heartfelt music!☮☮☮☮👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
@@christielysdale1815 Yep, we are on the same wave length my friend! There's just something about appreciating something you already love, even more, when you see someone else reacting positively to it. Who knows, maybe there's a clinical term for that🥴
@ there were certain mixes and effects in the 90’s u could achieve to aid and make your voice sound a bit better but technically was not advanced as much were talking 30 + years. auto tunes technology has evolved in past 3 years using AI, even you and I can make a beat, or a song. There is a touch of truth to your claim in the 70’s the carpenters used dupevocals to make their harmonies sound so smooth, he could do this from his organ with a flip of a switch. Technology something
Probably using helicopters to get those shots from the sky, probably like most movies and tv shows back then. So much money is probably saved now by using drones instead of helicopters, or even CGI or AI..
The '80s was the time period when music started to go down hill - thanks to the influence of MTV - shifting the focus from the actual music and musicians to visuals. These days you sometimes don't see the musicians only the singers and dancers - putting the music in the back seat which IMHO was a huge disservice. And don't even get me started on auto tune- a poor way to cover up vocalists who can't hold a pitch.
Patti and michael both have such strong voices, both very soulful
Patti LaBelle puts a capital D in Diva she is one absolutely gorgeous woman. Their voices together was magic.
Patti was 42 years old. May 24 she will be 80 years old still singing like it was yesterday!
One of the best duets ever!
We did have Helicopters with ZOOM Cameras in the 80's! 😂🤣😋
Autotune wasn't invented until 1999, so anyone singing before then is pure talent!
I said nothing about auto tune
@@MugnifyRTS it was just an FYI, that I forgot to add.
@@htbald1 oh okay! I get this comment so much it almost irks me when I hear it
@@MugnifyRTS a lot of people think it's being used when they're reacting to some of these older songs. That's all!✌️

I miss the 70's and 80's so much. Best music era of all time. Glad for you tubers to bring a lot of it back and enjoy it too.
They recorded this song separately in different cities. Such a classic. ❤
Michael Mc (Doobie Bros)❤ Also, Don Henley (Eagles), Phil Collins (Genesis) & Peter Cetera (Chicago) had a great solo ventures in the 80s.
Helicopter shots!
Two voices made for singing. Mugs, Patti LaBelle was born May 24, 1944.

This comment is so perfect for this reaction! One of his most expressive reactions. It is always funny to see surprise register on his face

More Michael McDonald please!!!!!! What a Fool Believes and I Keep Forgettin'
Agreed, but it would be cool for a Doobie Brothers progressed to his solo stuff
Love patti's voice. what a great sone.
Have always loved this song! I heard they didn't meet until they performed it on The Tonight Show in 1986. Thanks.
Nice song. I loved how artists collaborated together and we got duos we never thought we needed. Lol.
70s and 80s they was sanging!
She was 42
Great analysis!
Patti is a natural 8 octave
Mike's voice is pure sex in this track
For a younger Patti La Belle, try "Lady Marmalade."
I Keep Forgetting. Try that on for size
Michael McDonald w/ the Doobie Brothers
Taking It To The Streets
To flip it , I’m old , 63, and I know who Travis Barker is but I’ve never ever heard his music, tho I know he’s a star.
❤❤❤
You gotta check out Tina Turner with Bryan Adams that’s another power duet
There was no auto tune until 90’s
I think auto tune may have had another name back in the day
