Elvenjig is a folky intro they added to Elvenpath in live performances. It’s a twist of a song called “Jigs” from Troy’s previous band, Iona. Elvenpath is the first song of the first album of Nightwish, back in 1997. BTW, Floor was sick in this concert.
This is so cool. I had no idea Elvenjig was from Troy's treasure trunk. I love that both Elvenjig and Elvenpath fit together so harmoniously as though it were one piece in two.. Spectacular.

Tuomas, Nightwish and all of the very skilled technicians in sounds, effects and pictures - are working hard to give you an experience with each song. If you imagine 'Lord of the Rings' in you head - they have succeeded in starting your fantasy and letting you interpret the song your own way. Exactly what was intended. (but it doesn't have to be Lord of the Rings!!!) 😉 And you can't find another artist like Floor, able to take you directly into the story - and then your mind/fantasy takes over, letting you feel the story like you were a part of it. That's how it is being at a Nightwish concert. And they are so professional that they are able to create some of that magic in their live videos. And you are spot on - Tuomas creates the stories first, then he composes the music to enhance the story - and then the others add their own individual style, interpretation and ideas/ thoughts to the story - the all contributes.. And don't worry - The Nightwish Army are mostly grown up music lovers, that just wants to share good music with others. And sometimes people from all over the world meets at a concert, only having 'talked' over YT. There are more than one reactor out there, who have actually met and joined the Army, during the world tour... Thank you for another great reaction 👍.
It must have been mentioned before, but Tuomas is a big fan of Scrooge McDuck. In 2014 he released "Music Inspired by the Life and Times of Scrooge", essentially the soundtrack to a film that was never made. His wife, Johanna Kurkela sings on the album. "The Last Sled" and "A Lifetime of Adventure" are two of the most recommended songs.

In case no one else has mentioned it: the audio with the narrator talking about the Rings of Power was taken directly from the 1978 animated film "The Lord of the Rings". While Tuomas is a Disney fan, there aren't necessarily any references to Disney in this song. For instance, both "Snow White" and "The Beauty and the Beast" are stories that are a couple of centuries old. By the way, I find it interesting that the band decided to keep Tarja's introduction to "Elvenpath" during this tour rather than letting Floor narrate it. Anyway, thanks for yet another excellent reaction!
Of course Tuomas wrote it. In many of his songs he longs for his childhood when all was innocent living as a small boy. Everytime the words 'Story'; 'Boy'; '(Ocean) Soul' and 'Poet' come along, you can be sure the song is very personal to Tuomas.
As i responded earlier, I loved Holland. We went to Amsterdam but thats not my scene. We spent a lot of time in Zutphen where the company was based. So fun and quaint!!!!

Nightwish is certainly a powerhouse live act but it is fun to check out the music videos put out with the various incarnations of the band (just like Sabaton.) I would suggest to you a nice triple header though time: ‘End of All Hope’ with Tarja, ‘Scaretale’ with Anette and ‘Elan’ with Floor. Who would make fun of you as you are good people. I could never listen to Pop music again after Nightwish. As much as there is some great singing Pop singers that are not using Autotune or other effects. Most Pop music today just repeats the same rubbish of Falling in love or getting laid blah blah same rubbish. Nightwish on the otherhand have nothing but stories, Poetry or real feel good music. And even though some of it is heavy and a bit angry it connects more to how many of us feel. Thank you guys another fun reaction. God bless.

Elvenjig reminds me of a song from a band named Faun, can't remember on the top of my head, probably a traditional scandinavian song ... I love scandinavian folk, sounds very etherial. If you look for something folkish Faun is a very good band (specialy the Eden album for me) also Wardruna. Although Faun is a germanic band not scandinavian just to add this here! :P

As to the forging of the One Ring that's not completely addressed in LotR, it is more fully addressed in The Simarillion. This is, as usual, a Tuomas composition - or rather two compositions. These are separate songs from different times that are now generally played together. Elvenpath is from the first album, Angels Fall First. I dont recall Elvenjig being on any of the studio albums I have. I may dig them out and have a look later. If I recall, it was issued on a B side of a single and was intended to be on Endless Forms but was dropped for lack of space. But my memory may be playing tricks so I await the story from someone else. What you need to do is create a plsylist and put up a Sabaton playlist, a Nigjtwish playlist etc. Then itsceasier to see what you've done by a given band. Keep up the good work. This is a great journey and there's a long way to go yet... Oh and ignore the mean comments. Trolls inside uate themselves into every community. Remember my mantra: Don't Feed The Trolls.

There are some jerks in the Army, as in most walks of life. And some of them are a 'little much' (it's OK guys, not everyone has to love Nightwish) but this toxicity that some people drone on about has eluded me so far. And anyone who doesn't like dogs can lose my number. I'm very much of the same mind as Lord Byron when it comes to our four-legged friends. All of man's noblest qualities with none of his failings. There are some jerks in the Army, as in most walks of life. And some of them are a 'little much' (it's OK guys, not everyone has to love Nightwish) but this toxicity that some people drone on about has eluded me so far. And anyone who doesn't like dogs can lose my number. I'm very much of the same mind as Lord Byron when it comes to our four-legged friends. All of man's noblest qualities with none of his failings.
Either way, as long as you're digging the music, that's what ultimately matters.
