To respond to the previous comments; in 1989 you already had the 'Moscow Music Peace Festival' with artist as Bon Jovi, Motley Crew, Ozzy Osbourne, The Scorpions. MTV has reported and Adam Curry from the Netherlands was the presenter
It was significant as Wolfman alluded to. It was just after Russia started opening their doors to western acts. It was after fall of Berlin Wall, in the midst of the dissolution of the Soviet Union. After it had been decided, but prior to it becoming official on December 25, 1991. Bonesy was leaning into that one.
Sounds hot. We’ve had it hot for us lately too. Bonzie looks upright and happy. My wife loves Metallica. I didn’t know I like Metallica until I realized the songs I did that I liked. I mentioned on ACL with Jeff she went to one of their concerts late 80 early 90, had the backstage passes and all, and got the autographs and got to meet them all. She was surprised then and now surprised and she told me that they allowed no smoking, drinking or drugs, backstage table of fresh fruits, and water, etc. Now that I thought was pretty cool. This was great. Take care. 🙏🙏🙏
I think that’s cool too brother! We view a lot of those acts as just a debauched group of men/women who only want to party I love the fact they take it so seriously.
Also nice to tell; there is a TH-camr active in Moscow He walks past a pub and right at that moment 'It's my life' of Bon Jovi is being played. This is being sung along loudly. It make me think a lot, as if the middle finger was being extended to Poetin.
Crowd estimated at 1.6 million. AC/DC, The Black Crows, and Motley Crue also played that day. Saw Metallica on this tour the following spring in Virginia, still one of the best concerts I've been to. You can keep the 100's, near 90 here today and that is way too hot for me.🔥🔥 "Stranglehold" also comes to mind for Nugent.
One of the best legend hard rock/ heavy metalsongs ever live performed on stage, the intro Ecstasy of Gold gives the Sandman song extra dimension. Because of the crowd atmosphere in Russia although prefer the longer Mexican intro version a little bit more.
Metallica are in my opinion the US National Treasure. This must be one of the biggest concerts ever, if I remember it correct with over 1,5 million people. I wonder if any band from the West would draw such audience today in russia? I doubt that. This was in the last months of the Empire, later that year led to dissolution of the Sovietunion and the communist rule. Unfortunatelly the tensions between the West and russia havent decreased since then, rather the opposite. I remember it well, I did my military duty here in sweden that year guarding the Royal Castle in Stockholm freezing my butt off. 🥶 Enough of that, great reaction. Have you heard a band called *Follow The Cipher* ? If not, I can recomend you do a reaction to their song The Rising. Make sure you pick the unofficial version, its actually better than the official. Funny thing is that this band are from Falun in Sweden, same small hometown as *Sabaton* and *Brothers of Metal* It has to be something in the water there 😊🤔🇸🇪 And Lindas voice...omg 🥰
@@Northman-from-the-North hey brother I just reread your text. I haven’t heard or Follow the Cipher but I will listen On this channel, I only react to covers. However, I will still give them a listen anyway. Thanks again!
If Metallica comes to Russia again, they will gather the same amount of audience as in the video. In Russia, they love Metallica and will always love them. Western rock bands are very popular here and the fans are still loyal. Greetings from Russia.
Congrats I think your sound has been fixed, sorry if you have mentioned it before as I’ve missed a couple of days. Well this is my first with it anyhow. Could not imagine playing in front of 50 people, that was in excess of a million, wow is right. ❤️🤘🎸🎻🦘
Thanks Steven, we’re working on the sound all the time and it is getting better! It was certainly a lot of people at that concert. The main thing Sue and I discussed after was the looks of joy and so much freedom on the people’s faces!!

"- How many in the audience?!
"- Just 1,6 million, no pressure guys!"
Love it!! 😛
