    Gents those designs on the van are they decals or painted on?.

    im really wanting to live life out on the road bust dont really know what to look for or even where to look really, at the moment im mostly looking on facebook market place and theres loads of nice things on there but when it comes down to price, how long the van will last, miles and so on i get lost, any tips for someone like me?
    any and all tips are much appreciated

    • @CampervanTales
      @CampervanTales  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hiya.
      Now that is a million dollar question.
      We started with a small Talbot, sold that and bought an ex military Landrover ambulance that was 50 years old and now have a Renault Master.
      If you look at our playlists you will see lots of conversions that we have filmed. th-cam.com/play/PLyxCC5qT51u7TwiSkhiNJ_lrB_v0af9nd.html
      It very much depends on how you plan on to use it. Are you planning on full time living in it, or weekends and longer holidays?
      After our first two vans we knew that a fixed bed and enough height for stand up were must haves. There is nothing worse in our opinion that having to make a bed up every night.
      If you have the time and ability then you might be better buying a van and doing the conversion yourself then you can have it exactly as you want it.
      In our experience we wouldn't have a shower cubicle. It takes up precious space for something that isn't used much and no matter how well it is sealed there is the potential for leaks.
      Solar panels and leisure batteries are a must, especially if you don't want to waste your money on campsites. We haven't used a site in four years. We much prefer to spend the money saved on site fees in the local cafes and shops.
      As for vehicle, well that is very much each to their own. Renault Master's are galvanised so less chance of rust, Ford Transits are addicted to going rusty so avoid if you can.
      Have a look at the playlist for some ideas. It always amazes us what people can do with the inside of a van. As for where to buy one at the moment we don't really know. Facebook Marketplace as you mentioned, Ebay, Preloved.
      Don't jump at the first van you see and treat it very much like when you are looking for somewhere to live, if it feels right when you see it then it serves as a guide, butcany niggling doubts then walk away, because they will only fester once you have bought it. Don't be shy at approaching people and asking to look inside their van, people are more or less always happy to show off their pride and joy.
      If we can be of any more help do get in touch, and so let us know how you get on. Have a good Christmas.

    • @devilishtee3117
      @devilishtee3117 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CampervanTales wow thanks for this reply, ill 100% stay away from the transit lol. as for the showers thats a fair point but where would you go to have a shower, a hotel maybe?

    • @CampervanTales
      @CampervanTales  ปีที่แล้ว

      @devilishtee3117 you can usually find showers at leisure centres where you just pay to go for a swim or use the gym but then just use the showers, and motorway service stations which more often than not are free. We also spend a lot of time in the Lake District and have a dip in a stream to wash. Cold but really invigorating. We are going to the Lakes at the end of the month and will be doing that. Let us know how you get on with getting a van.
