I wandered in to the cave and killed the owlbear because I was desperate for exp. I was taken so off guard by the little owl bear cub with tears in its eyes that immediately loaded my save from before I entered the cave. I know its only a video game but damn I felt so horrible about it
At the goblin camp make sure you use the potion to talk to animals, interact with the cub and tell you you have a camp nearby. A few options will exist throughout your playthrough to interact with the cub at your camp. During the final battle of the game you can blow a horn to call the cub to assist you in that fight. It has a jump pounce attack that prones enemies.
I went the other way around: I accidently first killed the goblin camp and then walked in the cub‘s nest (mother still alive). Then went outside and returned to the nest (cub‘s mother killed by goblins). Then took three long rests and the cub appeared at my camp (though Karlach scared it away, because she said „Oh my god, it is so cute and fluffy“ VERY loudly.) 😂 :D
I did the same, but in the cave there was an egg, I took it and I could not see it in my inventory. how's that? maybe because i already have the cub at my camp?
You can poison the beer, read the mind of the goblin, then convince the goblin they are allergic to the berry in the beer. They all then run off and you can tell the cub to go to camp.
I accidentally killed the cub since I thought it was one of their monsters and now I’ve done so much in between that I don’t want to go back to the save where it’s still alive and I feel so bad now that I know what it was that I killed 😭😭
Not sure if anyone still needs help this late, if you didn’t go to the cave first, and attacked the goblin camp first.. the little guy is still at the camp when it’s hostile. Just best everyone in the main area by the cub. After you do, you can talk to the cub after. Also I recommend speak to animals. It makes everything way easier.
@@Iemon2004 in my case i started spamming long rests until all the interaction cutscenes ran out, then after a few nights, i think it was 6 or 7 long rests in total, he appeared. I basically massacred the entire Goblin Camp and talked to the Cub immediatelly after he started running around, after i let he sniff my hand, he ran away.
If you decimated Goblin camp before encountering the Owl bear mother, you can still get him even if you are in act 2 already. Go into cave and pass checks to leave cave without a fight (you can loot everything later) go to camp and sleep, go back into cave (even though you killed all goblins mother will be killed by some goblins) loot everything. Go back to camp and sleep. Owlbear will appear at night (even without smelling you in goblin camp) Shadowheart will chase him away but don’t worry. Sleep, Fast travel to any location, travel back to camp and end the day. Owlbear will come to camp needing healing. After successfully doing so he will be at your camp day and night.
It would be really nice if after a few long rests, it grew fully and it would become your companion pet. I got the Owlbear cub thinking eventually he would be a companion. I think Larian should change it to allow the cub to adventure with you.
soooo if I didn't go into the Owlbear cave until AFTER I''ve killed all the goblins, I can't get the cub? Like, I did the main quest and killed the three leaders and entered the cave afterwards to see the owlbear mummy & cub so idk if I can still adopt it :(

Since the goblins are dead, you don’t have to worry about them taking him or anything. He’ll show up at your camp after a long rest (it could take multiple; I think it was on my second long rest post meeting him?) and you can offer him food. I don’t remember if he stayed after the first visit where I gave him food or if it took multiple visits like in this video, but he is at my camp permanently now.
Idk, I entered the cave, left the momma and baby, had a fight with the goblins at the grove, came back to the cave and saw that the momma had been killed but no sign of the baby, and then went to the goblin camp and cleared them out, but still no baby. I’m afraid to progress and miss out on finding the poor thing
When the owlbear came to my camp the first night I tried to do the animal handling check and failed but was able to calm it down and even though I wasn’t able to actually choose to feed it, Lae’zel told me that since I had fed it it would probably be back to eat again, but it hasn’t returned, will it show up eventually or have I messed it up?
Question: I have Baldurs Gate 3 on my Xbox X and I'm having issues with my party being separated and having to select one of the other characters and take them to where my main character is. Is anyone else having the same problem? It's pissing me off.
You can "ungroup" members of your party. Happens to me sometimes on accident when Astarion or Gale can't make a jump that everyone else can... Or when I misclick. I've found the easiest way to deal with this, is to go to camp with Tav/Durge, then invite someone into your party and have them take the place of the lost companion. Leave camp, then go back and switch members again, so you have the party you wanted again. That saves you the running, since upon switching, members are automatically grouped with you, and will spawn with you in the world. I'm on Playstation though.
I can't get the owlbear to smell me. I want to kill Owlbear mother for the exp but the cub keeps eating her mother after and doesn't smell me. Wasted 2 hours getting to goblin camp and doing the chicken chase only for the cub to not smell me and no option to buy or release the cub from goblin lady. Ugh

Unfortunately I killed it because I entered the the cave too early in the game I didn’t know anything about the lore but I will play the game again and I will make sure to not kill it i hope 😅
Yeah you're not alone, I forgot all about using the speak to animals potion and failed the dice rolls. So the mother attacked me and the cub as well. Ended up killing both of them. I'm going in completely blind i'm not watching TH-cam videos or walkthroughs I want to play this with me learning from my mistakes And this is one of them. When a friend told me he had the dog and the owl bear as pets in the camp I got jealous. I know what to do on my next run though at least.

Also if you knock out the owl bear mother the cub will still come to your base and younwont have to deal with the moral feelings of did i really just kill a mother for her baby

I had a different experience I wouldn’t feel to bad I had animal talking and the owl bear goes on to eat it’s own mother because it’s starving 😐

Option 4 - kill the goblin lady after the owlbear smells you. Just kill her. You'll have to pass a check against the guard.

i talk to the owlbear mum in the cave using karlach but when I go to goblin camp after sleeping one night, the cub is not in the goblin camp.

He did not appear after giving him my scent. I went into the grymforge by now and it's been well over 3 long rests. What is going on?
