For Implode, I like to use a false push deep into enemy base with quicker units, pull my units out, then hit implode right on their TC and army. Had a few opponents instantly resign after getting hit like that, as it takes out the majority of their current standing army, unit production buildings, farms, and villagers, and makes their TC and other buildings incredibly weak for the real push.
Nice tierlist ! I feel Inferno amazing if we talk about design but it's really not the best due to missing damage potential. (Hard to cast) Just a little thing I have to say because I think it could have been worth mentionning : I think Plenty can be useful in longer games (if you have the wonder for example), but most of them are against AI or a lot of players / in team games, and surely not in 1v1. I think it's even better than Tartarian gate in that regard, because when you have no more ressources in the map it can help you quite a bit. Other than that im always going for Artemis and Hera. Even if the colossus can be strong on some situations, I feel he is too easy to counter due to how slow he is. Implose is very weird, but it's good on buildings. I think it need a buff because it's not as destructive as earthquake on buildings and is very meh on damaging army. Spell is very ''beautiful'' like inferno tho.
I think you are sorta underestimating the plenty vault for a variety of reasons. Firstly its not just equal to 8 villagers its limitless income regardless of the game state, even when villagers are not working, even when all the gold on the map has run out. Secondly it makes it a desirable target for enemies because its a limitless income source. You can make a massive army quickly and rebuild that army in the time it takes to kill the first army which means unless the enemy controls more of the map you basically can put limitless pressure onto them. Earthquake can savage a defensive position and Lightning storm can destroy an army but those powers once used won't be able to be used for a while till you get the favour for them and their favour cost competes with Myth units. Where as Plenty only needs to be used once and is always active while you hold it. Plus you get the Colossus myth unit which are absolutely bonkers being able to heal by eating tress and a bunch of them can even be a threat to Titans. With the plenty vault fuelling them you can sort of consider the Colossus as an extension of the Plenty power, where as Medusas and Chimera have very little synergy going on with their respective god power. The only downside to plenty is the fact that the vault can be taken, which means yeah it will feel bad to use this power into a more aggressive enemy like Norse.
I loved the video, thank you IamMagic! I wish you elaborated more on Ragnarok being A instead of S though; it sounded like you only had good things to say about it. Like you said, it provides very high comeback potential, and can still close a game out if you're ahead. Boit even considers Freyr not having access to Ragnarok to be a weakness of that god. I'd be okay if these videos were just a little longer, so we can hear more of your analysis. Either way, thank you again for your hard work making these!
I think a huge oversight is implode isn't meant to kill an army, I almost always use it to destroy enemy buildings and it does an okay job doing a fair bit of damage to enemy production buildings allowing my army to finish them off. I wouldn't really think that would make it S tier, but it's more in between A and B
Fimbulwinter is top for me too! The amount of times this has won me a game when I was nearly at a loss, add in a wonder and it’s cheap as anything and can be used every minute or so. It’s demoralising and soul destroying lol
Damn bro, what a nice intro :) But Meteor will drop to A if the nerf in the beta patch will get applied 750> 580 dmg, tcs need a extra hit to die, so if u have enough targets around the tc, it survives even without any upgrades! And the godpowers simply depend a lot on different game modes than 1v1. Fimbulwinter in a FFA is brutal, while ragnarok is kinda useless and plenty vault is for wonder age late game really strong because u simply dont need vils anymore
Love your content, and the video editing is getting better and better! But the Nidhogg in A tier?? In my opinion is C tier. Its easily countered by ranged heroes. I actually think it needs a buff I much rather have a son of Osiris than a Nidhogg
The earlier you use Nidhogg the better. When opponent has 200 pop and a ton of ranged units/resources it’s not great. But at 12 minutes it’s really strong
For mythic age, lightning storm for me. OG version was devastating for units but does nothing on buildings. Retold version can even wipe out a dock or tower after it run out of units to kill.
Your contents been fantastic so far, thank you! Also I wouldnt mind a bit more analysis on some GPs that have nuance in their placement, and how you would use it to get best use. I think nidhogg is very weak compared to other mythic gps. most greeks have strong heroes and a fair few toxotes all of which melt the nidhogg, eggy has priests and chariot archers, and atlanteans tons of arcus. The nidhogg is much more dependant on using terrain to escape, as it is very slow. Which makes me sad, cause the unit is the coolest in the game. Also also, I play non ranked, and wouldnt mind a video on how to not rely on AQ for military buildings with hopes of being able to play without a crutch.
When I played a game with a friend against the AI, i was Agyptians in that round, the AI destroyd my entire base with an implosion. I had many units in my base and recognised the use of the god Power a few seconds to late. I know that I lost a TC, two migdols, at least 3 to 4 production buildings and al my farms. But i have to say, it never again was so powerfull. So i would say it can be one of the most destructive, but it will not be a good god Power most of the times.
I looked again and have to correct tc and poduction where not destroyed instantly, but the buildings where at a 10nth of their helth. And at least 20 vills got smoked
The reason people are saying the Norse power with the wolves raiding economy is overpowered I believe is because of teamgames. 1 god power that raids all the enemies economies at once is super strong in 3v3. Did not see anyone else mention this.
Hey maybe you could make a "Army Composition" video where you show for all civs great army compositions and also tell how to counter them. I often dont really know what army comp i should use and also not sure how to counter some for example when greece goes for hydra, cav and bowmen. Would be nice :) Good Video m8
I saw a video where 1 person for the Norwegians switched to heroic at 6:20, and I think by the 8th minute you can take mythic, in this case the wolves can cause quite serious damage to the economy and distract the opponent with the wolves in front of olin
The problem with implode is it take too much times to suck units in it. If it was faster it would be on pair with earthquake because the more units it sucks the more crush damage it does. While agree with most of the tier list (in 1v1 environnement), im not sure about the nidhog in A tier. I think he is really squishy and can shine only agaisnt low archers units comp making him more situational than overall strong. If tartar's gate is C tier then the vault should be B tier imo. Keep pumping the content Magic, your the best ! (pls next time myth units tier list or techs)
The problem with godpowers for me is that the rest of the minor god is important as well. I like the guaranteed Value of Hephaistos, u not only get extra eco from Plenty Vault, u save lots of res on the armory as well, great for games when u probably wont finish them in one strike. In a fast mythic situation with close to 0 expansion destructive godpowers are great since all the enemy stuff is in one place, i like the others for 200+ pop games
Nidhog is very good at raiding but its ability sucks because of the forced movement, and dies way too easily. It has potential to be strong, but can also completely whiff.
Nice video! Ragnarok heros are very nerfed to the vanilla ones, they get shredded by axeman, ta, archers with ballista. I dont use much Ragnarok anymore. Implosion seems to be bugged. It killed an army of 120 men last game vs gaia as thor and did damage the building, it was even worse then meteor.
You can also summon it near or under some buildings to destroy them surprisingly, it doesn't work on town centres but can be useful in some situations.
Plenty vault is quite good in the late game, put down a few, and you no longer need an economy, and thus, have a bigger army since you dont need villagers anymore.
One of the strats I personally like to use is fast advance to Mythic, grab a plenty vault mid game and then by end game have 3-4 plenty vaults so I can start trading with the enemy no matter if I win the fight or not, the goal is to get them spending as many resources as possible. The plenty vaults when stacked together start brining near inf resources plus you get forge of Olympus, with 3-4 armories you can grab every upgrade way before your enemy meaning in even unfavorable battles your army will still win with their extra 20-40% stats.
Nidhogg above SoO is Magic politely telling us, "Git gud." Flying is definitely a massive, massive raiding advantage that only the top players will make use of properly. SoO is just way easier to use well and is a hard counter to Nidhogg itself.
I'd like to see a buff or rework to some powers that seem subpar personally. Implode has crap damage compared to how cool it looks, it's also easily avoidable as it has a decent startup time. I get that it's more meant for bases rather than armies but the animation always tells me otherwise. Having to pile up enemies to up the damage is also pretty meh to me when Meteor can strike the same spot twice. Tartarian Gate I like the idea about uncontrollable hostile spawns and instant building destruction, but I feel the spawns should have boosted damage against villagers and buildings so they feel threatening, the spawns don't give me the feeling a Mythic Age unit. Maybe even just spawning 5 of them initially so they can't just be picked off one by one. Fimbulwinter is also pretty meh. It works in some situations but again, doesn't feel Mythic Age worthy. If the game reaches Mythic, usually means the economy on both sides is decent and can withstand 40s of down time, especially if it's just around the town center with only farming taking a hit. The effect would make more sense if it appeared at an earlier age. The idea behind the name is a harsh winter so wolves seems a bit out of place as the main effect imo. Would be interesting if it halved gather rates for its duration so it's not just town center based. Probably too much trouble to program but feels like it would have been more effective if it targeted granaries as well since wolves would be after food. Was cool to watch, can't wait till Heroic Age God Powers since they feel like they shift the tides of battle more often than Myth Powers. For the video itself, would have enjoyed you implementing all the god powers on screen and showing how effective they are like you did with the Greeks at the start. Tornado whiffing completely would have shown why it's not as good as Meteor in many cases. Nidhogg would probably show how it can turn the tides and how ranged heroes can melt it. Ragnarök is intuitive so it's fine it's not represented. Fimbulwinter on its own could show how hit or miss it is without a simultaneous attack. Tartarian Gate getting used and then basically do nothing would show its subpar effect. Overall great video, excited for the next one.
Just did a similar video with all the god powers and two friends. What shocked me most about this tierlist was how highly you ranked lighting storm. Based on the wiki, lightning storm does a maximum of 2250 pierce damage. Earthquake, meteor shower, and Inferno all do way more damage than this to both units and buildings. What makes lightning storm so good?
I think they removed the limiter off lightning storm in retold, meaning it will kill everything within the radius (they might have nerfed this after release though)
Yeah testing out in editor looks like lighting will consistently take down about 30-35 tox/hoplites. I’ve been trying to test total damage of each god power in editor, but it keeps crashing after the 2nd cast
Lightning storm is definitely s tier in terms of power but I don't think that's necessary the case when you take into account the casting time. I think there's a very fair time limit to react to it. I'd probably prefer earthquake to s tier and I'd also put Ragnarok up there just cause that power means that you're always into the game even if you lose hard. I tend to agree with most especially the vault i really don't find it that strong i think most people perceive it that way cause Greeks scale good and on that context it seems better than it actually is to have free resources.
Also note that soldiers can move away (Lightning Storm) while buildings can't move away (Earthquake). Plenty Vault is the best friend of a beginner player, who isn't as good yet in macro and economy, but for advanced/competitive players, it doesn't has as much impact as direct destructive god powers, especially that now in Retold a much higher population cap can be reached, so proportionally the Plenty Vault is even less relevant.
Fimbulwinter is absolutely busted in long drawn out large scale maps. It completely annihalates people's economy and in the wonder age it is unparalelled. 1v1 it is probably one of the worst though. High ranked players would probably call FW trash.
I agree with you, as a fimbulwinter enjoyed, this power is definitely S tier on team game, I played with my friends and we do tartarus gate + fimbulwinter, we do some serious damage on civ while we defend against opponent. I have a question, which myth power is weak on multi-player? Does son of Osiris, plenty, nidhogg, ragnarok downgrade?
i think since team game maps are bigger, things like earthquake and tornado are a tad bit weaker since its hard to push your advantage after using them
yeah as a atlantean player, I never used implode on an army lol. I usually use it in middle of the enemy base with bunch of castles. It will destory the base pretty consistently. also i think nidhog is pretty bad and is worse than son of osiris cause osiris is actually scary to play against , nidhog is like meh (it used to be powerful in OG) nowadays i just walk thru nidhog like it doesn't exist. as long as I have archers, the nidhog goes down pretty fast. I think the fernir is unfairly judged, cuz aiming is a criteria for literally every god power, if u use implode/meteor in the middle of nowhere, it gets nothing either. IMO Fernir is S tier due to its destruction and its fairly easy to use, it's not that tough of a shot like quick scoping in call of duty or something.
My implode never works on enemy base, it also traps allies, it not kills your unites, but i you are siegeing an enemy base, you need your full army. It usually traps a good count of viillagers an army, but this thing never destroys a sigle build. And at the point I can cast it properly, most of the times means I was gonna win the match anyways, its not a game changer, neither its the last nail, it lacks of defensive play, Im just starting to consider got the vortex, some of my loses would be very different if i a vortex to ran away from meteors or lighting strikes.
@@crisshardy I think the way it works is, the more units it sucks up, the bigger and stronger the blast, so u shouldn't just put in on an enemy base, but an enemy base where there is big enemy army.
Does anyone use horus and tornadoes, cause the upgrades are good for infantry and the Egyptian one is not that good at all… especially when you can have better elephants or camels with the other gods.
I think ragnarok will become weaker as people learn how to stop it. The heroes are quite slow and can be kited easily, if the opponent has a lot of fortifications and archers the heroes will start dying while he keeps producing units
I think if you decide to use Ragnarok, you also got to build front barracks and have a spare healing fountain on the frontline. The point of Ragnarok is aggressive strat. It is difficult to master, like use your best micro skills, but even rushing on 2 side can be catastrophic on your opponent.
also funny enough depending on which mode u r playing the ranking changes dramatically lol. cuz in team games fimbwinter is like S tier thats why they got nerfed lol, they literally kill TC in team games lol. Raqnarok and vortex would also be S tier in team games. and all the destructive god power would be B or C in team games lol. cuz u can't turn around the game with it until wonder age. so plenty vault actually goes up the list.
Hey there, thx for the nice content, i can imagine thats a lot of work and i hope its fun🫶 I would realy like to see a video about AoM rules of thumb or as we in Germany would say about "Faustregeln". I think something like, "with the north you should generally aim for an uptime under 4 minuetes" or "against greeks you should either do almost no myth units or lot of myth units" or "usually you should not take more then one tc more then your opponent" Maby the idea is no good, because the game is generally to situationall, but i also could imagine that players wirh a lot of experience have developed such rules overtime and might not even are very aware of that. I also think they can be a usefull orientation for new players. Glhf
Magic, don't do the fake moving icons. Just talk through your logic and place them at once or if you re-elaborate and think they can be placed elsewhere, do that. Don't constantly move them please. It is a irritating thing. Also in my opinion camera swinging from in-game scenes isn't pleasing. From 3:28 - 3:45 . - Implode deals more damage the more units it can suck in. You could probaly make a video about it. If you suck enough unit, they all die. - Tartarian Gate can be used on allies to Troll, S tier.

Though it is not busted, it is super useful in the late game
production quality and smoothness has shot up to S tier in the last few weeks so good
Thanks man
For Implode, I like to use a false push deep into enemy base with quicker units, pull my units out, then hit implode right on their TC and army. Had a few opponents instantly resign after getting hit like that, as it takes out the majority of their current standing army, unit production buildings, farms, and villagers, and makes their TC and other buildings incredibly weak for the real push.
You forgot to mention the cool factor. I'd give implode easy S tier there. Watching the buildings bend towards the sphere is peak cinema
Nice tierlist ! I feel Inferno amazing if we talk about design but it's really not the best due to missing damage potential. (Hard to cast)
Just a little thing I have to say because I think it could have been worth mentionning :
I think Plenty can be useful in longer games (if you have the wonder for example), but most of them are against AI or a lot of players / in team games, and surely not in 1v1.
Spell is very ''beautiful'' like inferno tho.
love the videos man, the editing is top notch
Great edits on this one! Loved it
really not keen on the 8 second music loop, would have rather silence.
Big disagree
Agree
agree. cant stand the trap percussion style
Your videos keep getting better every upload... Keep up the good work! 👍🏼
Either way, thank you again for your hard work making these!
sure, i'll add more detail to the next ones!
@@kalorathekau Ragnarok isn't good if the other player is well prepared to stop it
I think a huge oversight is implode isn't meant to kill an army, I almost always use it to destroy enemy buildings and it does an okay job doing a fair bit of damage to enemy production buildings allowing my army to finish them off. I wouldn't really think that would make it S tier, but it's more in between A and B
good point, gotta try that, thanks
Fimbulwinter is top for me too! The amount of times this has won me a game when I was nearly at a loss, add in a wonder and it’s cheap as anything and can be used every minute or so. It’s demoralising and soul destroying lol
Damn bro, what a nice intro :)
But Meteor will drop to A if the nerf in the beta patch will get applied 750> 580 dmg, tcs need a extra hit to die, so if u have enough targets around the tc, it survives even without any upgrades!
I actually think it needs a buff
I much rather have a son of Osiris than a Nidhogg
No way Nidhogg is higher than C tier.
I agree, I thought Magic was joking with his description.
it depends on how you use him, in the hands of a great player he can be excellent
Agreed
The earlier you use Nidhogg the better. When opponent has 200 pop and a ton of ranged units/resources it’s not great. But at 12 minutes it’s really strong
@@SuchAdirt You are dead before 12 min.
Interesting Tier list for me as a beginner , there were some new things to consider :)
Would be nice :) Good Video m8
winter with wolves is very good for a very fast mythic era with olin, and also goes well with frost from the heroic era
Implode is now faster after the patch, but the damage to units and buildings is still underwhelming 30-40%.
Aren't Atlanteans supposed to be a late game civ? Their early game is kinda meh. They need stronger Gate and Implode
ragnarok is a do or die god power, it is used to finish the game. Hordes of these heroes can easily kill a titan
Nidhog is very good at raiding but its ability sucks because of the forced movement, and dies way too easily. It has potential to be strong, but can also completely whiff.
and he got nerfed like 3 times before the launch, it make me wonder why nobody realized how strong the meteor strike was...
Ragna Heros speed is very bad they get kited by units with ballistics i mean
Imo tartarian gate is like b tier cuz every time i used it it saved my game because its a great distraction if you cast it mid enemy base
True yeah, depends on usage for sure
@@IamMagicAOM do you think the devs will add more major gods for each civ
You can also summon it near or under some buildings to destroy them surprisingly, it doesn't work on town centres but can be useful in some situations.
The graphics and effects are sick! Did you hire a video editor or are you doing it all yourself? Amazing video as usual
The video editing I’m doing myself, I suck but I spent a lot of time to make up for it
I’m really interested in how you would rate the archaic powers
Vortex is amazing but Id like it more if it kept the very low cooldown from ee.
Plenty vault is quite good in the late game, put down a few, and you no longer need an economy, and thus, have a bigger army since you dont need villagers anymore.
Fire intro!
Haha naw! I ain’t saying that :D
great video..but the plenty vault is A tier and a game changer for me....everything shoots to 1000 and also you can easily use it 3/4 times
Thank the gods that Meteor Strike is being heavily nerfed in PUP
What's the best way to find a changelist?
Overall great video, excited for the next one.
great points! thanks for writing that
Just did a similar video with all the god powers and two friends.
So I have a question, for the greeks, does 2 tempels with both 1 villager generate more favor than one tempel with 2 villagers or are they the same?
It use to be something like that in the old game but I’ve never heard of that being the case for retold
Fimbulwinter probably the most broken one imo and definitely deserves a nerf
Nice video like always...
Are colossus worth not having lightning strike or hearthquake ?
Not entirely sure, haven’t seen them being able to carry an entire game yet
Well done
I agree with you, as a fimbulwinter enjoyed, this power is definitely S tier on team game, I played with my friends and we do tartarus gate + fimbulwinter, we do some serious damage on civ while we defend against opponent.
I have a question, which myth power is weak on multi-player?
Does son of Osiris, plenty, nidhogg, ragnarok downgrade?
i think since team game maps are bigger, things like earthquake and tornado are a tad bit weaker since its hard to push your advantage after using them
I differ a little BUT overall is a good tierlist bro thanks :3
Putting implode in anything higher then D tier is absurd to me . Most age 3 and even some age 2 god powers are more effective.
Ye might need a buff, give it more succ power
Implode is the coolest mythic ability though, that count or something...
You have to use to destroy buildings, not armies
@@nickochioneantony9288 it definitely looks the coolest, can’t disagree with that
Can we use our cheapest unit to power up the implode on the enemy base? It sounds like a meme strategy.
Ohh interesting, gotta try that out
yeah as a atlantean player, I never used implode on an army lol.
None of these powers can compare to bawk bawk boom
hah
Does anyone use horus and tornadoes, cause the upgrades are good for infantry and the Egyptian one is not that good at all… especially when you can have better elephants or camels with the other gods.
sick intro :)
Hello! Do you offer coaching?
Hey not atm as I don’t have much free time, once work slows down in a month or two I might
Okay - can we connect on WA or email? I’m looking for coaching in the long term
Is SoO stronger now due to divine damage?
kinda but he feels a bit sluggish and he needs so much babysitting
Goat
I think ragnarok will become weaker as people learn how to stop it. The heroes are quite slow and can be kited easily, if the opponent has a lot of fortifications and archers the heroes will start dying while he keeps producing units
I think if you decide to use Ragnarok, you also got to build front barracks and have a spare healing fountain on the frontline.
The point of Ragnarok is aggressive strat. It is difficult to master, like use your best micro skills, but even rushing on 2 side can be catastrophic on your opponent.
nice !
Implode ls a EQ wlrha condltlon. It can be weaker or stronger than EQ. I prefer EQ as inplode lean on "wln harder" slde when compared.
also funny enough depending on which mode u r playing the ranking changes dramatically lol.
cuz in team games fimbwinter is like S tier thats why they got nerfed lol, they literally kill TC in team games lol.
Raqnarok and vortex would also be S tier in team games.
and all the destructive god power would be B or C in team games lol. cuz u can't turn around the game with it until wonder age. so plenty vault actually goes up the list.
yep agreed
Hey there, thx for the nice content, i can imagine thats a lot of work and i hope its fun🫶
I would realy like to see a video about AoM rules of thumb or as we in Germany would say about "Faustregeln".
I think something like, "with the north you should generally aim for an uptime under 4 minuetes" or "against greeks you should either do almost no myth units or lot of myth units" or "usually you should not take more then one tc more then your opponent"
Maby the idea is no good, because the game is generally to situationall, but i also could imagine that players wirh a lot of experience have developed such rules overtime and might not even are very aware of that. I also think they can be a usefull orientation for new players.
Glhf
This is a cool idea, thanks
Magic I love your content, but you need to get a better mic, its hard for some of us that english is not our native language. Love from Mexico
Gotcha I just bought another one, I’m setting it up right now
Hey Magic, I think your older videos are better. No music and more 'yourself'. This one feels a bit scripted. But keep at it!
gotcha, thanks for the feedback - this also takes longer and I can't give enough detail, maybe i'll go back to the old way!
@@IamMagicAOM No probs, appreciate you have to make it appealing to the masses!
Nidhogg as strong as Ragnarok? What a joke. Loki players dream of having Rag.

Thank you! Noted
Implode is slept on imo; its not amazing vs units but it is absolutely devastating vs buildings, especially if you can get a good bundle of units into it. Even your own if you want to sacrifice cheap units in an attack to deliver a potential deathblow.
I hate the music
1st !
Atty godpowers cringe :(
