Hey everybody, I’m proud of you for trying to heal yourselves. If you’re watching this this is an indication. It’s a lonely road, but you are not alone in this. I love you all

    Be perfect.
    Please others.
    Try harder
    Be strong.
    Hurry up.

I love being auto didactic and learning therapeutic measures to improve my life, emotional intelligence, and boundaries. This is empowering material that allows me to become a more self actualized individual, or at least have that goal. Or individuate, positively disintegrate, become enlightened, whatever you wanna call it. My ego likes to think about it like that anyway

This video has opened my eyes. The examples you gave were so insightful and routed in the everyday - this type of complex theory should always be designed in this way. Thank you for sharing your insight, I cant wait to share this school of thought with more of network.

Wait. You just blew my mind. I have always had a tendency to not complete tasks. I was just telling someone that i subconsciously choose the harder way to do things.
How can I five more deeply into the try hard/harder driver?

Yes, drivers are called the mini script. For more information watch my video on Transactional Analysis life scripts. Best wishes, Teresa.

Oh wow. I'm all of these. I'd a terrible childhood. Only now in my 40's am I realising this and working towards uninstalling these drivers. Very helpful. Thanks again.

    • @LewisPsychology

I’m sorry to hear about your terrible childhood Trevor. Although you can relate to all of the drivers you may find that you have one or two primary drivers. I hope this helps. Wishing you well, Teresa.

I am coming back to TA, after taking the C-PTSD journey. Got a lot of help from a physiotherapist- who helped to get my breathing in order. Now in a better frame to think clearly- and to pick up on stuff that one only lay in the woolly wilderness of brain fog,,,.

    • @LewisPsychology

It's great to hear you are coming back to TA, it's my favourite theoretical model. Very interesting that you used a 'bottom up' approach to tackle your CPTSD (working on the body first). I actually talk about this in my latest video which you might find of interest: th-cam.com/video/9G2QUpHExjk/w-d-xo.html Best wishes, Teresa.

very nice video. I didnt understand how the "be perfect" driver hinders autonomy? I think I am that kind of driver and I do struggle with autonomy. Thank you

    • @LewisPsychology
      @LewisPsychology  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Thanks for your comment Rya Rya. Drivers develop from internalising messages from others. They are unconscious and kind of like a computer program running in the background. They operate from the Adapted Child ego state and an unhealthy ‘I’m not ok’ life position’. The idea is to step out of your driver and behave with more flexibility, freedom and self-governance. I hope this helps.

Great video, thank you for the clarity. I am wondering, how about having multiple drivers at play same time? How do one step out of multiple drivers?

With the be perfect driver, isn't it more of a double edge sword? How do you produce excellent work at an exceptional level while maintaining your well-being and avoiding the negative aspects of perfectionism?
