Not the best idea keeping this thing all electric. Electric vehicle development isn't that good yet. It's still not very flexible. It's very limiting compared to what you could do with a shaft drive combustion built vehicle. You can always put batteries and motors onto a shaft drive, axle, and differential combustion setup. It's just a lot more flexible and attainable to work on and get great results out of. Not to disappoint anyone and especially future developers, when we hear the idea of a tesla powered van, we do think of tesla batteries powering it, but the idea is still very broad, and when considering that EVs don't make good vans, maybe you should consider different approaches such as a hybrid van with combustion, or a fully combustion van, with no driving drawbacks, and a giant tesla battery pack powering the electrical system for house power. Again, on top of a combustion setup, with 4wd, locking differentials, usable range, and usable fill up times, and usable towing and hauling capacity that we would expect from a van. To me there's no sense in making a van like this if no one is going to buy into it if it doesn't inspire confidence in owning it, just to say that it's fully electric. It's just about acknowledging what current technology actually gives us, and doing the best we can with it. If the draw back for oil changes is more ranger faster fill ups and greater towing and hauling then it might be worth it. Not saying it always will be. There's a future and a now, and pushing the future doesn't always make the now better. Combustion is a now that speaks volumes on it's future. Efficiency can't be such a focal point that the rest of the vehicle suffers as a result especially in the case of a van where utility is the next focal point.

I'm actually considering buying a used/ working 2006 Dodge Charger SRT8 and convert it to electric while throwing in some retro audio formats like the the cassette and 8 track in there (and you can't forget the CD/radio) complete with a wooden dashboard and a DIY instrument cluster. all of that built onto a cold rolled steel frame with some parts from a used Tesla Model S (batteries included and also built into the new charger frame). but I'm not including car version of a record player, those didn't last long and they ended up destroying your records, not worth the hassle or cost.

IIRC it was the basically the vision of one guy previously at LDV/Leyland Daf vans and funded by a former owner/director of the London taxi cab manufacturer. I thought it had a weird molten sulphur battery system but later production may have changed. One fundamental flaw was the doors - behind the cab rather than alongside the driver/passenger so wasted space and effort getting in and out.

Partner with volta system 🤔 and have two separate systems one for driving ev and volta 4 pack while you are charging you can watch TV and camp out. People will purchase as a blank slate or built out with toilet, beds, shower. I for one WOULD BUY it if it eliminates gas and charges like a Tesla. I would own a Tesla now but we don't like cars need Class B van EV for sure.

Really interesting to see how they try to get the local delivery services electric.
Of course is the range the most important thing to convince companies to go green. A long range with strong battery capacity will allow to integrate all the futures like air-conditioning, preheating or pre-cooling and other stuff making daily driving and using enjoyable.
We need much more of these innovative companies making our mobility green.

Would be something Tesla could sell components for with the thought of what Elon has said about sharing.

Hi Ben, would really love your opinion about the new Polestar 2, which I think is the first real competition for the Model 3.

@@BenSullinsOfficial I would also love that. So many reviewers are comparing Pole star 2 to model 3 but are not yet bringing totally accurate information to the table. Also many reviews will not talk about the different charging rates yet will note that the mirrors are rimless (I cannot care less about that). This EV deserves a fair comparison and review. As someone whom used to own all the older Volvos (you know the ones with 4 cylinder motors that had a hard time going up hills but were built like a tank), i might look seriously at it even though there is not yet a good charging network in the US that the Pole star can use.
One of the reveiws talked about the bad brakes in the Model 3 yet then says how you don't need to use brakes much on the polestar. Then i found out that the cars use the same manufactures for their brakes. Well the same goes for Model 3; one can nearly use brakeless driving for most of all driving conditions. The quality of reveiws need to improve and i know you would provide one of the better ones. thanks for your channel..
