@@anthonyjohnson9088 nice, that would be ace I'm sure. I miss Dave, he was my Nintendo guy and loved his humour. Joe is great at what he does, have you checked out Sound Sack yet?
Wow, I can't believe that first game was actually a Genesis game! That's some of the best use of color I have ever seen on the system! When he said it was a Genesis game I was like "Wait, WHAT??".
I heard the Yakisoban Jingle as I was working on another screen and immediately zoomed in. I first heard of that game by someone's remix of one of Level 3 music, but the remix made it sound a lot more dynamic than I thought by upping the tempo a nudge. Good stuff, Game Sack!
To be exact on the idea of Goiken Muyou, the game's not a Sega pet project that got rejected. It was a project from actual pro VF2 players that basically uses their know-how and programming skills to make it, and it does a bang-up job. And I noticed how there's clues to the movesets the hidden playable devs have, like Bunbun Maru having Kage's moves and how the dude ya used in the stereo sound demonstration has Sarah's loadout
I was one of the guys who kept bugging him about Magical Troll. :) Glad that you finally enjoyed it, Joe! It's definitely one of the games that proved early on that when the devs wanted it, Genesis/MD could output excellent colorful and cutesy graphics that stand up to anything on PCE or Super Famicom. Only a 4 Mb cart too! Super Fantasy Zone, which came out the same year, is another great example of this.
You know what would be an awesome theme for a gamesack episode? “Left in Brazil” aka Tectoy Master System and Mega Drive games. There are quite a few Brazil exclusives for these consoles and it would be right on the GameSack alley to do an episode covering these games and their differences.
I'm brazilian (and you probably are too) and I think none of those Tec Toy exclusive games are that interesting. Most of them are just palette swaps anyway, with characters that nobody outside here would care much.
Lol. Idk that he was really putting SLX down, just poking fun. I would actually say SLX is a much, MUCH more Sega dedicated fan but the comment was still funny and on point 😂
SegaLordX ... always hated that SEGA tone rip-off theme. Indifference there I am afraid, I tried watching it's a little dry. That is not a put down that is called an opinion. However I feel offended you didn't kiss Joe's ass enough. Since we're doing the whole tribesmanship bollocks. Lol.
Joe, one of the bonus players in the Anarchy in Japan game is Bun Bun Maru who was a famous pro Virtua Fighter player. I'm guessing the other three guys were too, but I didn't recognize their names.
That second game (the beat em up) looks really fun. I would've thought you'd be running out of quality Japanese-only games at this point but apparently not!
The four "random dudes" at 14:59 are the then (and even now) famous VF2 superplayers: Ikebukuro Sarah, Shinjuku Jacky, Bunbun-Maru & Kashiwa Jeffry. Ikebukuro and Shinjuku are districts in Tokyo, Bunbun translates to "shake or swing with vigor" (like swinging your fists rapidly and forcefully at someone) and Maru is a suffix for names of ships, swords, etc. also used in names of ninjas (same as in Kagemaru), and Kashiwa is a city in the Chiba prefecture. They were 4 of 6 "Tetsujin" (Ironman) officially recognized by Sega as the best players in the VF2 tournament scene, and they aided with the development of the game. (P.S. And the voices when attacking in Panzer Bandit are just battle cries like "Hiiiya!" and stuff like that, at least in this footage.) 😊

The noise when attacking most likely comes from a martial arts thing called Kiai, the stereotype is the karate man saying "HIYA!" it's basically making some sort of noise with your attacks to help with focusing, tightening up of various muscles and help to keep breathing regular during combat.
