Sifu Adam can do long fist, taiji, hakka, and bagua. He can bend all four elements... he must be the Avatar! What's funny is I was working on this very idea starting people with Tan Tui, and then developing their Wing Chun/JKD then moving on to Hsing-I, Taiji, and Bagua from that base. Seems like I can just learn from sifu Adam though. A big plus is he's not a large man like me although he works out so he's a bit meatier than I am. Should still work out though.
love that you talk about stances and static misconceptions. Wasn't long ago I realized that most of the stances are transitional. I've been working on my own in my system for a while now that Live in the Cariboo and not out on the Island where my core system club was. Thank you for confirming this and showing the importance of alinement over the use of small muscles.
Not only by changing the "tool", long fist moves can be turned shorter/narrower for close range combat. Big movement from the form is just the primary version that trains your maximum and optimal range. Learners should also practise the shorter version to fight in close range. Short fist styles still have the upper hand in close range combat though IMO.
OK Sir, this partner is again taller, mostly slower, but what about Long Fist applications against shorter opponents, who arefaster as a rule. Best regards, Paul,67
good stuff ...long fist is underrated due to no real practitioners doing the real conditioning
Huge point regarding majority of hard style Chinese boxing
Lots of serious conditioning required

Longfist seem very close to bujinkan tai jutsu. Interresting.
in northern style we keep gong bu, ma bu with feet parallel.

Why is it that in hsing i you want to strike at the same time the front foot hits the ground then?
Chris should wear pads and a hockey mask
太祖长拳
Long Fist, a type of fighting style used when Emperor 赵匡胤 was still a warlord.
I think Chris needs a body protector
