      Absolutely. I have come accros more than one martial arts teacher who wacks you when demonstrating and then disingenuously, says, "sorry, sorry are you OK?" when you know darn-well it was intentional.

    Styles like LF and Tantui often get a bad name as being useless for fighting due to their large extended postures and Wushu-ish appearance. Master Han's demo has certainly shown that nothing can be further from the truth.

      Some of the kung fu styles are hard to understand if not initiated into it, but i think it is done with purpose. In the movie Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai 1999 there is a scene where ghost dog thinks he needs to rescue someone from assault, but has to watch how the chinese is beating up the assailant with long fist

    There are 2 types of Kung Fu teacher. The ones who keep it super close to the vest and hardly show you anything and the ones who are like "Look at all this cool stuff I know". I much prefer the second group. :)

    Really nice! I used to train Tan Tui, but seeing them come to life is a genuine treasure. I'd only like to add that the principle of using the same patterns with and without weapons is very much present in Philipino Martial Arts. Always nice to find resemblances across the spectrum.

    People make fun of Traditional Martial Arts, because they often fail under MMA rules, but there is a certain strength, timing, and speed one gets from this type of training. I'd love to see these traditional schools do more sparring/grappling so they can show what makes their styles special in sports fighting.

    Pure awesomeness! I hope to be able to meet this Sifu again. We trained together at his Uncle and Aunts gym, although unlike this young master I am not a closed door disciple.. His stances are masterful. I hope to connect with you again. Sorry I could not attend the grandmaster's funeral, I had COVID at the time. Peace be Sifu Leung and Love to his family. - Thomas

    The triangle inside the circle is physics basis that is universal for any/all martial arts
    The Master's explanation is one of the best...
    Also love Master Han's playfulness and forgiving nature for you ruining his floor calling it martial arts history...lol..
    Awesome video...

    • @PaMuShin
      @PaMuShin 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The triangle, circle pattern is a zen/chan buddhism thing, usually there comes a square above it. You can see it in aikido and many other martial arts too, not sure if there is an alan watts video about it available. But the thing this teacher is missing, that the jian and the short spear are expected to keep the tip at the same point while moving the wrist, it is to teach economy of motion. Another thing is calligraphy related to this practice and the principles of practice that come with it, but most of the young teachers do not practice this far anymore. But it seems it is still conserved in some form in okinawa as enkamp is often gifted with signs, but seems to be totally clueless about the teachings these signs are meant for him or the practice of drawing could give. at least it is surviving kind of in this way

    The Guoshuguan was a major national effort to transform and modernize martial arts and their instruction in China. Taiwan is the best preserved repository of those traditions. Han Qing Tan was one of the top 10 finalists at the 1929 national tournament in Hangzhou. Fan Chi Sau was another significant representative of those traditions in Taiwan. He was especially respected for his Jian.
