    Sir triac is also used in split ac pcb for blower motor speed control , there i found blower motor working directly without gate trigger voltage, what would be the reason? I changed triac also but condition is same .I removed optocoupler still motor runs, Please advise.

    I am trying to repair and troubleshoot a SCR which is used as exposure switch in an X-ray unit. Here 230 V (AC) first is fed to primary auto transformer and then stepped upto 150KV (AC) using secondary transformer and further rectified to pulsed DC to run the x-ray tube. My question is if this SCR is unidirectional, then how this SCR switch is used in the AC line between primary and secondary transformer. Theoretically SCR switch should be used in the rectified DC line.

    Why the voltage decreasing in scr above the breakdown voltage.what happens inside scr at the time

      Because after the Breakdown, If you apply a small voltage the current will increase rapidly,as the depletion layer has broken down.

    Can i trigger the gate with higher voltage than its rated voltage? For example( if i need 12v to triger the gate but i apply 20v in it what will happen?)

      Trigger will happen but you may damage your thyristor

      Nope, diac and triac is bidirectional device, so we can turn it off only when we reduce current below holding current.
