The “dark skin light skin…I’m black” she’s talking about the colorism that she’s always faced for being very light skinned and privileged. She’s worked hard for years now to take back her black heritage because for so long she made “white pop music.” SNL even had a skit about it for when she released Formation the world ended because it was the day “Beyonce became black.” Lol

It's a fact that the verse on “Alien superstar” which says “I’m too sexy for this world”, sounds similar to “I’m too sexy”. Btw, you’ll notice more similarities between other popular songs & the next tracks from the album by the time you hear them all, and that’s because the main purpose of it is sampling iconic songs and make them sound fresh, so basicly that’s why the album is called “Renaissance”. I also consider that the name itself of the album has several meanings, obviously related to “renaissance” which is nothing but a synonym of rebirth, if we take some time to think about it. 19:00. the term is called “rap-singing”. it’s basically Beyoncé’s genre as she’s the only artist that does it because it generally takes a lot of vocal agility to riff and run with your voice due to the fast paced raps. she’s been doing it since the 90’s.
I listened to the album 3 times because it’s a plate fulllll. It’s perfection! It’s like watching ‘The Wiz’ (film) & ‘Pose’ (TV show) at the same time . It’s so gay, urban, juicy, mysterious, and adventurous. Its not a bitterness, it’s a fierceness .. To understand this album I recommend listening to Prince, Janelle Monae, Rihanna’s “Unapologetic” album, & Kelis’ discography
this album is so different in all the right ways. it always amazes me how all do beyoncé’s albums are different yet amazing in their own right, she’s just THAT GIRLLL!
The first time i was like what am i listening to. Now after listening to it for the 400th time lmao, it’s laced with cr@ck 😭 cuz omg this album is GOLD! It actually hit me on the second listen. Now, it’s stuck playing on my playlist.
Your reaction was right on point with your "good girl" aura.😳😂 I had a similar reaction to some of the tracks, but I knew the album was going to be pretty explicit. Glad it's grown on you. I've appreciated it more with each listen as well. Great reaction🌹❤️
This album was HEAVILY inspired by ball room, disco, and house music. It's basically a love letter to the black queer community that inspires a ton of today's society but goes unrecognized. Put simply, a lot of the sounds on this album are sounds you would hear in a gay club during a ball, which can be very jarring if you aren't familiar with it, so I don't blame anyone for not loving this album upon first listen. I heavily suggest watching some ball room performances and seeing where a lot of the sounds come from, especially the seemingly random male voices that appear in a lot of the tracks. Experiencing this album boils down to having fun, loving yourself, and shaking some ass along the way XD
Yess love your reactions! We waiting for The Gift album! and also maybe Everything is Love, with Jay-Z. Renaissance is a bop, I honestly agree that it takes a time to process, its a really good dense album
First of all; I love your reactions. They're usually fun and super honest. I understand your reaction, especially since I think you're more comfortable with pop music. The album is not aggressive but kinda saucy and feel-good. I don't think Beyoncé is bitter or something. It's an homage to black music and ballroom culture. The music is also super experimental as you said with a lot of tracks being unstructured. I guess Renaissance is the kind of album you have to listen to several times to appreciate it. BTW I'm a Beyoncé fan and I had a similar reaction as you at my first listen.
Soo, I totally understand this as a first reaction. This is easily Beyoncé’s most experimental and dense album, and the one that’s taken the most listens to truly click. Mostly because the song structure is so complex and switches abruptly. But by the 3rd listen through, it was already in contention for my favorite Beyoncé album, or at least most sonically innovative. This was sort of a love letter to her gay fans. She is specifically pulling from elements of black queer culture and ballroom culture, including house music and jersey/Baltimore club music. That’s why there is a lot of rap/chanting, as there tends to be in those genres, and similar to a lot of what Lady Gaga does. That’s also why this album is soo…”sexually liberated?” Lol. The clean version may be an easier listen if that stuff distracts you. I know there’s a chance the sound just won’t be for you, but I hope you’ll give it a few more rotations. Either way, enjoyed the video, and your editing as always!
totally agree - it’s one of her most sonically innovative and it’s grown on me so much! i really enjoy most of the songs now. i had no idea she was doing a love letter to gay fans but that’s amazing!!💖
@@nickvnicholas7857 1) they make up a big part of her fan base 2) it is a love letter to her queer uncle who passed away and 3) maybe she just wants to show love to a community that is constantly under attack
No problem, I needed more time with the album too... It's definitely a MASTERPIECE that needs to be listened one by one. Paying attention to every sound and lyrics.
Poor baby struggling listening the first time 🤣 I completely get it. It’s so different from other Beyoncé albums and it takes more than one listen to get it. By the 3rd listen I LOVED this album so much.
Been watching you for a while and just realized I wasn’t subscribed yet 😭 but that’s fixed now lmao. This album has had to grow on me, but Summer Renaissance is that girl 👏🏼
First, I have to say that I love your reactions. I am constantly laughing 🤣😂😂. As many have mentioned before, this album is dedicated to her LGBT…fans for the most part. Her uncle Johnny was an important figure in her life. This is just act one of three( all will be different). She said that she wanted people to have some fun after what the world experienced the past couple of years. The aggression you speak of is actually just how we ( The LGBT… community) are in the clubs. It’s the confidence that radiates through dancing, voguing specifically speaking & she’s tooting her own horn.😊 She’s paying homage to the music her uncle turned her on to & she did a great job infusing old school house & disco from the 80’s & 90’s & added something new. 🤔🤔Oh, Lemonade gets its title from the saying, “ when you get lemons, you make lemonade out of them”. Like taking a negative & making it into something positive. God Bless.😉❤️
I was completely confused and SHOOK when i first heard this and as a huge beyoncé fan i was kinda worried that i wasn’t instantly in love. It probably took me 5 whole album listens to understand what is going on and to figure out what i like. But i’m happy to say i actually LOVE this album and it is so ‘Unique’ and ahead of it’s time. Beyoncé will never stop creating music that hasn’t been done before and that is so authentic💜 Also, i loved watching all your beyoncé album reviews!
I, personally, don't really see the aggression you are getting from the songs. It does feel really joyous to me and I've loved every song. My younger years were spent in a bunch of queer bars and clubs, and house/dance music was a big part of that so it all might just come down to taste and exposure to certain sounds. I think that this is one of her best albums. I haven't stopped listening to it all day.
Maybe dance/house music isnt that much for you, idk. It wasn’t for me as well, but before i listened to this album i tried to not expect anything and to just try to enjoy it for what it is without overthinking it knowing that dance music isn’t really my cup of tea, but surprisingly it worked for me and i really enjoyed and loved it so much on my first listen. Good reaction tho, thank you for being honest and true 😊❤
Lmao this is so wholesome 😭 Poor Beth was out here glitching trying to process what was going on and I get it. It’s a lot of lyrics, sounds and genres just ganging up on us whew. It takes time for it all to click together lol
Oh my God, Beth!!! I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE!!!!!! your channel!!!! I have such a good time watching your reactions, you're so funny and expressive, I just enjoy you! Please, more Britney!!! And would you do some Kylie Minogue reactions? Anything from Impossible Princess (1997) on. Keep up the great job, you are a piece of sunshine! Oh, by the way... I'm watching from Chile. You've gotten this far.
You’re honest reaction was cracking me up. Some songs will grow on you with a second listen. Beyoncé loves to sing so vocals will always be present and spotless, but she’s definitely not a one-demential artist so you’ll find spoken word, rap, poetry, even classical stylings and gospel/choral harmonies in her music. However, some things you don’t understand because they’re culturally significant, and that’s ok. Keep in mind also that this dance album is a melting pot of house, dance, pop, ballroom, R & B, and more. I think her goal was to have something for everyone to embrace and dance to coming out of the pandemic. I always enjoy your reactions. I think we can all benefit from listening to genres we don’t gravitate towards typically.
I know you have a new video on this but I think it's interesting that I've watched a lot of reviews and I've realised that MOST of the queer community reviewers get most of the songs straight away and the straight ones don't. This is literally proof that the queer community is still very much under represent as a lot of the stuff spoken about it alien to those who don't get most of the references.
Lemonade is called Lemonade because she took a sour situation, lemons (her husband cheating on her) and made beautiful art from it with the album, adding sugar.
I love that you read the comments and like them learning a bit more about the album after reacting to it. Most of them are not your cup of tea, but you can expect anything from Bey's new albums. we never know.

I really liked how you kept it respectful even though this wasn't your favorite album in the world. It really goes to show how amazing of a person you are for being able to do so. For me, I really liked the album and my favorites were Church Girl, Plastic Off the Sofa, Virgos Groove, and America Has a Problem. I really enjoy dance music and I liked that she still is experimenting and stepping outside of the box even 25+ years after. The album is also heavily inspired by ballroom culture and 80s/90s which is why it sounds so familiar yet different.

I've been watching your Beyonce reviews since you started and you've grown so much as a content creator! I can't get mad at you not really knowing how to feel after the first few listens, it's definitely a weird ass album from Beyonce!
FACTS. even if not everyone likes this album (it grew on me, but not on everyone) she DID THATTT
I was WAITING FOR UR REACTION !!! Thank u for uploading it so FAST ! 😩💗
thank you for watching 🥰🐝💃🏻
I've never been so excited for a reaction in my life
The first time i was like what am i listening to. Now after listening to it for the 400th time lmao, it’s laced with cr@ck 😭 cuz omg this album is GOLD! It actually hit me on the second listen. Now, it’s stuck playing on my playlist.
Love it, as always. You really did time the review of previous albums AMAZINGLY
Wait, did you know?🤔🤭😉
@@beygkc8256 haha right?! complete coincidence the way it worked out but i’m so glad it worked out that way!!!
disco is inclusive, diverse and fun. A perfect genre for the queen of Pop.
Your reaction was right on point with your "good girl" aura.😳😂 I had a similar reaction to some of the tracks, but I knew the album was going to be pretty explicit. Glad it's grown on you. I've appreciated it more with each listen as well. Great reaction🌹❤️
lolol basically. thank you so much
Love your honest review and cant wait to watch the update.
Hope you got Renaissance world tour tickets 😘
This album is DEFINITELY a grower. I can't wait for the visuals it's definitely going to change our perspective on the album!!! 😍
I love your reaction! And never be afraid to be honest! People are here for your opinion and we love you ❤ And this is coming from a Beyhive member.
thank you💖💖💖💖💖
This truly is album of the year for me…
i knew you were going to LIVE for virgo's groove, especially the last section where she does acrobatics with her voice
🥰
I'm so happy i found your channel, you are such a pure soul & i love your reactions ✨️✨️✨️
thank you stefan 🥺🥰
I feel you, I hate it at first sight, but I grew to love it, I'm not American, so I couldn't get it at first, but this work is spectacular.
This album is for us fa- gay ppl, if you don’t get it that’s ok 🫶🏼
BTW I'm a Beyoncé fan and I had a similar reaction as you at my first listen.
thank you 💖 glad i wasn’t alone in my initial reaction lol
One thing about Beyoncé and her music. There’s too many layers to get it on the first listen. Bow down to mother 👑❤️
yes sooo many layers 💃🏻
@@nickvnicholas7857 her Late uncle Jonny was Gay and the whole Album is dedicated to the ballroom culture
Soooooooo excited for this video, by that I mean THIS edition, out of the reactors on TH-cam! 🤍🖤🤍🖤
thank you so much 💖💖💖💖
you’re gonna love her vocals on this
Yess, been jamming to this album nonstop, but that first listen had me dizzy lol
righttttt
OMG yasss Beth, i've been waiting for you to react.
No problem, I needed more time with the album too... It's definitely a MASTERPIECE that needs to be listened one by one. Paying attention to every sound and lyrics.
I love all up in your mind and break my soul can’t wait to see your Glory reaction
I watched your Surrender reaction and realized on this one I wasn’t subscribed so I am now! Keep it up you seem more confident with each video
thank you so much! i really appreciate that :)
I WAS WAITING FOR YOUR REACTION QUEEN
Poor baby struggling listening the first time 🤣 I completely get it. It’s so different from other Beyoncé albums and it takes more than one listen to get it. By the 3rd listen I LOVED this album so much.
thank you for understanding lol 😭 literally second listen i was like wait this is good-
lmao
Been waiting for thi 🤒
Been watching you for a while and just realized I wasn’t subscribed yet 😭 but that’s fixed now lmao. This album has had to grow on me, but Summer Renaissance is that girl 👏🏼
Church Girl is basically about a girl that loves the lord but also has a life outside the church. Who doesn’t want to be judged for being herself.
💖💖💖
this video was such worth the entire watch
Thank you so much i really really appreciate that ❤️❤️❤️
I watched a ton of reviews on this album and you are the best at it! You gave me so much life. 💖💖💖💖
thank you so much i appreciate this comment more than you know 🥺💖
I was completely confused and SHOOK when i first heard this and as a huge beyoncé fan i was kinda worried that i wasn’t instantly in love.
I love you!!!💖 This is your worst reaction to Date for a Bey album. 🤣🤣🤣💔 I knew its not your sound from the start. This is AOTY MATERIAL.❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
I haven't stopped listening to it all day.
yeah i haven’t been exposed to those sounds so this was new to me!!! that’s probably why i didn’t get it at first. it’s grown on me a lot!
It takes time for it all to click together lol
thanku for understanding lol😭
😭😭😭
Oh my God, Beth!!! I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE!!!!!! your channel!!!! I have such a good time watching your reactions, you're so funny and expressive, I just enjoy you! Please, more Britney!!! And would you do some Kylie Minogue reactions? Anything from Impossible Princess (1997) on. Keep up the great job, you are a piece of sunshine! Oh, by the way... I'm watching from Chile. You've gotten this far.
thank you so much💖💖💖 more britney is coming!
I think we can all benefit from listening to genres we don’t gravitate towards typically.
thank you so much for this comment 😊
love the reaction, editing and honesty ❤❤🐝🐝
thank youuu🐝🐝🐝
Gives myself studio 54 and soultrain and early 80s and 70s absolutely loved this album
Most of them are not your cup of tea, but you can expect anything from Bey's new albums. we never know.
thank you💕
I love your reaction. Cuz you reacted the way most people have, they got whiplash listening to it lol
lolol
Omggg you already listened to Glory, I liveee
Im a bigg Beyoncé fan, I love almost everything shes done, and I felt the same listening to Renaissance, its too much but it definitely is a grower. Cuff It, Thique, Plastic off the Sofa and Pure/Honey are fireeee
💯💯💯
estava ansiosa por esse react, Renaissance álbum do ano ❤️🇧🇷
i just think that you are my favorite « reactions creator » because i love so much your smile, your positivity and the fact that you make me laugh a lot like you’re so funny and i love that !!! your videos are my comfort videos and i’m so happy that you went through the discography of my four fav artists of all time (bey - gaga - marina - lana) i’m so grateful !!! i was watching your reactions when i felt bad and really depressed and you just made me forget about my own mental issues and made enjoy the moment and happy to see someone vibing on albums that litteraly saved my life.
anyway, thank you so much to you, your videos and your presence matters for people like me, please never stop🤍✨ and F*CKING ENJOY THE MUSIC !!!!!!!!!!!!
omg thank you 🥺💖 this comment made me feel better from my own anxiety so in a way, you brought comfort to someone who’s brought you comfort and i thank you for that 💃🏻
I really liked how you kept it respectful even though this wasn't your favorite album in the world. The album is also heavily inspired by ballroom culture and 80s/90s which is why it sounds so familiar yet different.
thank you so much! i really enjoy the album now as well! just took a minute, and i still have a few songs that aren’t for me
@@BethThereseReacts ah that makes sense! I’ve been hearing that a lot that it takes a few listens. Honestly same for me too I’ve liked more songs more now because I listened again and again.
I understand it was a lot to hear! I for one love the album tho. If you go back to self titled you can hear echos of renaissance there in the experimental tracks GHOST and NO ANGEL! Same old Bey, just a fresh new groove!!!
I fuck hard with this album. I had an out of body experience listening to it. It’s like Beyoncé took the souls of the gays and said, “It’s time to dance and heal.”
🚨DISCLAIMER: THIS IS AN ESSAY SUBMISSION🚨
TITLE: HOW BEYONCÉ WRECKED MY BRAIN WITH RENAISSANCE
Lemme tell you Beyoncé's albums are not meant to be listened to! It's a whole 4 dimensional experience tbh...I think my brain froze during the first listen of this album, like it was legit confused!! I realized I was 4 songs in the middle of Cuff It 🤦 then the transitions from Cuff it to Energy to Break my Soul had me buffering 🤯 then she hit me with Church girl making me feel like a sinner for some reason🙈 I somehow came to during Plastic off the sofa then Virgo's Groove had me transcending🌌 VOCAL LAYERING, THE END!! Was still recovering then the second part of Move hit and I was like 🦗🦟🦗🦟🦗 right into Heated then the trash talk at the end had me like 😳💦 UNCLE JOHNNY MADE MY DRESS💅 Also not you having the same reaction with me at the first line of THIQUE #Icannotrelate 😂 All up in your Mind is witchcraft!! Coz why I did feel my brain twitch like she was actually poking it with a stick?! America has a Problem is where my brain called it quits🥴 The Higher~~ overheated it beyond reboot 💫💫 I was legit coming to when I noticed the silence I had probably been marinating in for a while😵 Who knew having my brain fried would provide the greatest 1st album experience EVERR!! I could not decide how I felt about it so needed a break before going back in for a second now twenty-something listen😅
This album is definitely a grower for most coz tell me why it's now up there with Lemonade for me (Someone who hates disco, funk and house)?! Cannot pick my fave song 3 days into listening because like you said, there's so many elements, some you really love and some that you just are not that into😭 I do however know my least 2 faves (sorry track 15 & 16) so that's something😅
P.S. I wrote all this in the duration of the WONDERFUL 49min video you created❤️ Felt like I was experiencing this with you and for some reason that made it more fun☺️☺️❤️
i smiled so much at this comment 😭💖 such a well-written essay. thank you for the love as well💕
Been waiting a whileeee for this album
Your reaction was worth it.
Se beyhive forgive for your sins
Life gave Beyoncé lemons and so she made lemonade out of it. That’s why she named the album Lemonade 🍋
@Ao no shit? But i was just answering her question in Cozy about Lemonade -“is it called Lemonade because she’s sour/bitter?”
Sometimes we need to pay attention to what we’re watching before commenting or replying to other comments.
@Ao yep and it’s pointless
I've been watching your Beyonce reviews since you started and you've grown so much as a content creator! I can't get mad at you not really knowing how to feel after the first few listens, it's definitely a weird ass album from Beyonce! And I think that's the reason I like it so much, I wasn't expecting her to ever do something like this in her career EVER! I think it's really cool when an artist takes a huge risk like this. This album is a love letter to Black Queer culture, and certainly an album for many DJ's to have fun with on the dancefloor! Keep up the amazing work on your vids, can't wait for you to react to Renaissance pt.2 (whenever that's released lol)
thank you so much I really appreciate that!! and yeah I'm always for artists taking risks even if it takes a minute to digest. I think it's so important
Lemonade is called Lemonade because life (her marriage) gave her lemons and she made Lemonade. Turing something bitter into something sweet
ohh yeah that’s right!
