Not to worry KLM usually makes the announcement on filming/photos/recording. It wasn't targeted at you, no ill intent I assure you. Also, because of the extremely short flight between London and Amsterdam you only get the water and a snack. On flights that are a little longer (like the AF flight you took), KLM will also cater a sandwich and a variety of beverages.
This is what happens when an ignorant average youtuber for the mass crowds makes a video on airlines, full of inaccuracies especially noticeable to someone like me (I am an expert in the aviation industry). KLM isn't a "rival" of AF in any way, they are actually very close competing partners and subsidiaries of the AF/KLM Group (of which Air France is the major airline). Also, the service onboard KLM isn't passive aggressive, as they announce that on all flights, and it's not about you. Even on my KLM flights they made the same announcements. The world doesn't revolve around you. Seats were better before (these are new and renovated). (Wi-Fi isn't even pricey). European security is generally amazing, it's not luck, just simply the norm. AND the Air France aircraft isn't older than the KLM one, and it's actually way better. Arrivederci.
KLM is probably the airline I've flown the most on, and I really like it. But earlier this year I was on my way home from Bologna, and I was going to Amsterdam because it was a connecting flight. When we were boarding we were told we had to go back into the airport because of an "issue". Then, 40 minutes later, we boarded again. When we were fully boarded, the pilot said that he "thought" one of the wheels didn't have any air left, so he called someone to check it. The person checking the wheel wasn't in the airport, so that took a long time. When they arrived, they said there was nothing wrong with it. So that was just a waste of time. I barely got my connecting flight. The pilot even had to say that the person travelling to ____ (Where I was going) had to leave first, so everybody that wasnt going to ____ had to sit down (nobody followed that rule). Oh, and I've also never experienced so much turbulence. The guy behind my seat was holding on my seat like he was about to die. Btw I managed to get on the connecting flight, I just had to run.
Surprised you're complaining about the announcement about not filming fellow passengers three times (and I'm only halfway through the video) and yet you film passengers on your way to the bathroom without blurring faces...
Hey mate, KLM do that announcement on every flight. KLM crews are really good and always friendly. You must try Finnair Business Class on their new seat.
Also, you shoudl definitely check out the PUJ / MDPC lounge, it is kind of small but great quality, you could fly directly from there or from SDQ / MDSD with Iberia and Air Europa to Madrid. I have a trip to Spain due to some family member getting some medical treatment so we want to be there, we are currently jumping between these two. Great vid btw!!!!
Hi Eric, you’re pretty lucky to get a ride in an A318! It’s pretty rare these days, also that plane stopped producing around 10 years ago so maybe that’s why the legroom and seat isn’t that great.
Here’s a fun fact: You flew on an Airbus A318 with Air France. It’s one of the most difficult planes to fly on as only 80 were built and only 10 remain in commercial service.
@@ruben_egginkAF used to have more shares in KLM then KLM had in AF until the merge happend and both companies were 100% owned by the holding company. Being honest, the only way to compare 2 airlines, you should fly to the same destination, and If possible with the same aircraft. Such as AMS-DXB with KLM and DXB-CDG with AirFrance.
When they said to not film any crew or passengers it wasn’t directed to you. They also said that on my KLM flight. It’s probably just what they have to say in the safety announcement.

Hey Erick Struk, how ya doing. Back to watching ya videos! You never disappoint us and I love the hard work and content you do! Keep up the great work I love the videos and you are amazing.
In some KLM flights, you would get sandwiches too, but I’m guessing you just got a snack because it’s a shorter flight. You would also be able to get a soft drink if you want, but I live in Poland so the flight to Amsterdam is longer which might be why I get more options for drinks and a bigger food portion
Flown on both recently for work - Service is better than the likes of BA or Easyjet, who I find as being comparable. On a longer flight from Schipol to Bristol on KLM, it was nice to be served a sandwich, crisp and drinks. Likewise, I flew from Lyon to Nuremberg with Air France and was only given pretzels and a drink. It just depends on how far your hop is. I had a 30L rucksack and steel toetector boots and had no issues in any of the two cases. For European short haul flights, it's a case of convenience. We regularly fly KLM out of Bristol since Schipol is well connected and saves the faff of having to get to LHR or LCY.
KLM is also doing full drinks service if the flight is long enough (I guess like 1h minimum). On very short flights they only serve you water and chips
as someone who flew with both airfrance and klm this year (DUB-AMS-NRT with KLM and HND-CDG-DUB with air france) klm is much much better. the service on the klm flights was the best I've ever had. the seats were comfy and the food was amazing. the layover and transfer was also quick and easy too and the staff were very helpful. The only thing airfrance did better was the ife
They didn’t got on the com to give you a sneaky attack for the camera, it’s standard procedure for KLM and they announce this every flight. I live in the Netherlands so I fly allot with KLM hahaha.
I probably won't be heard, but can you try "Finnair" versus any European Airline? Finnair is seen as a good or great European airline, but it's overall mixed reviews. I really want to see the experience, thanks!
The comparison is a bit skewed because London to Amsterdam is an extra-EU & extra-Schengen flight, while Amsterdam to Paris is almost a domestic flight as it is intra-EU and intra-Schengen. Plus, certain drugs are allowed in the Netherlands, and the Paris Brussels Amsterdam corridor is considered high threat by authorities, so it's pretty normal for the security filter to be more thorough. Was the lounge Air France proper? Or KLM with an Air France sticker? The AMS CDG route is usually mostly used by people connecting on to intercontinental flights at either CDG or AMS rather than point to point travelers (there's the Eurostar, former Thalys high-speed train for that), so the route is essentially a bus of the sky where Air France, or KLM, put their basic cabins. It's usually where you can find the oldest cabins in the fleet, just like on the shuttle domestic network for Air France. (KLM doesn't have domestic flights, simply because there's no longer any domestic flights in the Netherlands). A more proper comparison would have been AMS LHR vs CDG LHR, as they both would have the same status, both departing from their home home hub airports. Testing Air France from AMS, which is KLM home base, is testing a bit of KLM too, as AF's cleaning crews and other services in AMS are in fact normally KLM's since they both are parent companies.
As someone who flowed klm im never riding it again so i was layovering in Amsterdam from Glasgow the flight arrived late and then our plane to lisbon was BORDING and if you have a child under 14 you have to go in the longer line the airport is huge and the runways were closed and we almost missed our flight but sence the plane arrived late they didnt have time to get all the luggage off so me my mom my dad and 18 other people luggage's got lost in Amsterdam it almost ruined our Europe trip (im American)
In Europe, you don't have to take your shoes or belts off during security unless you get double-inspected. And in LHR, they let you refill your bottle for free.
You could've flown into Turkish Airlines (amazing airline trust me), and like that, have an idea of how skyteam (AF and KLM) and start alliance (Turkish Airlines) are different. Was still a nice video :)
