"Planes are from the 80's" from the reviews. I hate when people who don't know anything about aviation say ignorant stuff like this. Neither Air Canada, WestJet or Porter have plane's built in the 80's in their fleet. The airlines in the US have plenty of those. And even if they did, as long as its maintained well, who cares? Those people probably see the Q400 (a plane all three major Canadian airliners fly) and think that it uses the same type engines as a "WWII" plane. Never mind the fact its a propeller driven by a modern jet engine.
Yeah so many airlines have the 787 and lock the windows which on some of the flights my home airline Qantas operates is a good thing (for sleep on their like 17 hour flights) and other times is annoying. Though because the window is dimmed you can get some pretty cool photos through it.
Windows are locked on the ground by WestJet Cabin Manager. It helps with keeping the cabin temperature comfortable during boarding. They are unlocked after pushback.
Don't know why you reviewed a Plaza Premium lounge when flying Air Canada. They have their own Maple Leaf lounges which are fairly easy to gain access to (can be done through a CIBC or TD credit card).
I always take Air Canada usually but took WestJet when my cat escaped his catsitter in Québec while I was in Vancouver and I needed the cheapest earliest flight - same day (I flew home on the 2nd day; he came back after 4... and this was the rare occasion when I left for a week without him... I usually travel with my cat... almost wondered if the fugue was him protesting 🤔) and I was pleasantly surprised!!
I literally flew on WestJet yesterday Best experience of my life. Everybody was nice. Some of the food was free. Had bags on every single seat if you’re nauseous.
Hello from Calgary! Dunno how long you were here but I hope it went well nonetheless :) I'm just happy to see Westjet (and YYC) get some representation, them being based here it's almost got a sense of local pride attached to it-
I have never had anything too bad happen to me and I have only flown Westjet. I recently came back from Hawaii and landed in YVR. The flight from HNL to YVR was okay. I didn’t sleep very well but that’s okay. I slept for about 2 hours in YVR during my 7 hour layover. Unfortunately, my one hour flight from YVR to YLW was cancelled due to a mechanical issue. But Westjet was able to reimburse us for lunch and dinner and we were rebooked onto a late night flight at no extra charge-because that flight was not going to be very full (initially).
We were 10 minutes late to board our flight, but WestJet went above and beyond to help us. They allowed us to get off the plane first with full priority to ensure we wouldn't miss our connection. They even held the plane for us! Air Canada on the other hand loses baggage
I’m sorry you had a bad experience on WestJet because of a little kid, overpriced wifi and half decent food. fly them a lot and never have had a bad experience. I agree that Air Canada can be a lot better but I’d say WestJet and Air Canada are the same. When I was going home from Toronto, my flight was only delayed 1 hour on Air Canada. I was flying in a A321 with an old entertainment system. The A321 entertainment system was old and so laggy. But who won in the video? WestJet or Air Canada?
you should see air Canadas revamped 321s, they're incredible. free wifi, bigger screens, bigger overhead bins, bigger seats and even a tail camera like the a380s. only a handful of fins have been updated for now tho
@@hasanlodhi3142 Okay! When I flew Air Canada home from Toronto I was on an A321-200. The entertainment was super laggy and not responsive. There were almost no options to choose to entertain myself.

I actually took Narita to Vancouver on Air Canada back in August and the boarding process was just as long. I was flying a 777 so it was a bigger plane. Also the windowless window seat tells you when you select it, it happened to me. Great review thought! keep it up

I flew WestJet 5 year ago on an old 737-700. I didint have such a great experience since the leg room was super tight and we got delayed 5 hours. But I do want to try them again soon on their newer aircraft to see if they are any better
They're not. Flew Halifax to Calgary, then to Edmonton. Same thing return. I've driven cross country a few times and honestly would rather drive for 4 days straight than deal with WestJet ever again.
I went to Japan a few months ago and flew United from Dulles to Haneda. The flight there was not bad the plane was old but it did have new inflight entertainment because it was renovated. The flight was pretty empty so I found an empty row and laid down on all 3 seats like a bed. The flight back to DC was terrible it was delayed 14 hours and it was a completely full flight with no extra seats so I had to have someone sit next to me. At least I had isle seat.

Trust me, if you flew from Calgary to Narita with Westjet, you’d know that they had marginally better catering. I received the same menu alex praglowski did when he flew to Seoul from Calgary.
You talk about flight delay on your WestJet flight which according to your phone was in April 2024 by showing a review from August 2024 that you saw "earlier"...how does that work, does WestJet do time travel?

Sunwing is so bad, I was using Sunwing this summer for a South American vacation, and that flight was so bad, very uncomfortable seating, no TV or any entertainment for 4 straight hours, can’t sleep, what’s weird is one row had more room than the other row, and I was in the row with less room and my family as well, so uncomfortable, my legs kept touching the seats making people on the flight thinking they kicked me, I will never go on a Sunwing plane again, also their snacks suck.
When I was going home my dad checked the flight from nyc to Calgary it got delayed by 2 hours!
