Interesting fact about one of the lines in the song. “10 of us will strike as thunder, 100 of us will shatter your hearts, 1000 of us will destroy and obliterate, 10k of us will hand you the wrath of heaven”, these are the unit increments of Chinggis Khaan’s Golden Horde. The phrase “hand you the wrath of heaven” is from a supposed quote from Chinggis Khaan…as the story goes a King defeated by Chinggis asked why they were basically wiped out, to which Chinggis responded “I am the Wrath of Heaven, if your sins weren’t so great God wouldn’t have sent me to destroy you”, or something like that.
I played this song several times and then I noticed a bird fall out of a tree nearby,so I went to investigate. Saw that a caterpillar had been listening to this song and the bird tried to get him as lunch, but the caterpillar jumped the bird and threw it out of the tree.
In the second verse when they refer to the Goruda bjrd and the lions with blue manes they are referencing cultural mythology. Im a Packers fan and i was thinking this would be a great pregame warm up song for the team as well as the crowd. In my head im singing GOPACKGOPACKGOPACK GOOO! LOL
A Blue Maned Lion is the Snow Lion which is a mythical animal that resides in the Eastern Himalayas. The Snow Lion has a youthful, vibrant energy and a natural sense of delight. Its fur is pure white and its flowing mane is the color of Tibetan turquoise. The Snow Lion symbolizes fearlessness and victory over all obstacles.
The Instrument you were so fascinated with is called the Morin Khuur or “Horse Head Fiddle”, if made traditionally the 2 “strings” (Male & Female) are made from the hairs from a horse’s tail (to bind the instrument to the player the hairs must come from the player’s horse), the Male string has 150 hairs and the Female string has 130 hairs. A sign of a Master Morin Khuur player is mimicking a near realistic horse’s neigh or whinny with the instrument.
If you don't get absolutely PUMPED listening to this song you're dead inside. 😆 I always thought this would be good song to run onto the football field to. The other team would be shook.
Amazing band, watched this video back in early 2019 and it changed my life, a little over 60, this gave me a new spark in life, the best ever inspirational song, have seen The HU "live" in 3 different Australian cities now Brisbane 2020 and Melbourne & Adelaide in 2022 HU HU HU HU
I like your reaction. This is a Mongolian band that uses traditional Mongolian instruments and throat singing. I think that HU means Human in Mongolian. Please, react to a cover that The Hu band did of Metallica's "sad but true". Thanks.
I love the sincerity of your reaction. The HU aside from their traditional instruments...the lyrics also give out a message of unity for the human race. Which we all need to take in to ourselves and change our mindset.
I've seen the Hu in concert twice at small theatres. It was the best! I love their cover songs and collaborations with mega rock stars as well. If you want to go further down the old + new styles mix with music (similar to the Hu) check out Skald. Their cover of Seven Nation Army is a good intro. They play at metal concerts like the Hu as well. :)
The bikers are a symbolic representation of the ancient Mongol Horde :) the instruments are traditional Mongolian instructions including the horsehead fiddle. The lead singer is a professor of Music at the Mongolian Conservatory of Music and a lot of their songs are old folk songs turned metal :) Mongolian throat singing is the best in world
Haha watched this way back in 2019 straight away, put it together, Mongol leader on horse, motorbikes, the golden horde, and you are right, watched heaps of early reactions, most had no clue, even knowing it was a Mongolian band, me, the word Mongolian brings to mind, one thing Chinggis Khan, l have 6 cats, Chinggis, Borte & Muujgai are 3 of them, Chinggis is Genghis Khan, Borte was his 1st wife & Muujgai means Kitty in Mongolian, the other 3 are Tamjee, Sara & Sally
@@terrynitschke5776 The only I realized the symbolic meaning is because I was an Anthropologist, and worked with Native Americans on West Coast of US. I love the names of your cats; my dogs name were Sasquatch and Yeti (Bigfoot in local area of California) 😁😁😁
Mongolian babies are usually born with blueish birthmark at the base of the spine. This birthmark usually disappears over time but this might the origin of the reference to "lions with blue mane".
They are Mongolian warriors...They were the reason the Great Wall was built by China...Tribal and feirce warriors..they are desendents of the Great Gangus Kahn..and Kubla Khan.
The lyrics to this are derived from a poem by feared Mongol leader Genghis Kahn, and I think (but may be wrong) that these aren't auto-translate but posted by the band. I'm not sure what a blue mane lion is though. The Mongols and their ancestor cousins The Huns are the reason that for a good couple of centuries, from China to Rome, the phrase "Look mommy, a man on a pony" was about the worst thing you could hear
Blue mane lion might refer to snow lion which is celestial animal of tibet.. representing fearlessness, joy, power and strenght.. imight be wrong as usual 😁
Also the Garuda Bird is (if I remember correctly) a Hindu god/demi-god who is part bird part human and is the enemy if all snakes. Hence the lyrics “If you come as snakes, we will become Garuda Birds and fly over you”.
@@frontrowchaos4597 words are from war chant of golden horde which rules todays russia and east europe and west asia, called 'ulug ulus' in Turkic language great state in english.today people believe Mogol army was formed by Mogols but there were Turkic warriors and generals in that army too.
Actually, the lyrics are taken from a poem written at the beginning of the 17th century by Mongolian Prince Tsogt-Khun-Taij (1581-1637), a direct descendent of Genghis Khan/Chinggis Khaan, who died 18 August 1227. The animals and mythical creatures mentioned are applied metaphorically and refer to the necessity for a strong defense against all invaders.
They put on a good show. Audience participation can be a little wonky since their English isn't the greatest (though it's way better than my Mongolian :P ), but definitely worth catching live.
I agree on how interesting non Western music is. I started listening to world music about two years ago and barely ever listen to Western music any more. Just listened to two Taiwanese girls play "Sound of Silence" on traditional instruments and it was beautiful.
