Some of us with hypochondriasis have already had real and worrying health conditions which fuel the OCD cycle of symptom, anxiety, safety behaviors, etc. People who speak on this focus so much on those who hyper fixate on their normal bodily variations but nobody talks about or directly speaks to those of us who have actually been diagnosed with life-threatening conditions and who have further legitimate, measurable health concerns.

In my crazy world I feel every symptom you can possibly feel. I have GERD, fatty liver, gallstones, chronic headaches and diabetes. And the worst part for me is it triggers at night. Almost every night. I end up spiraling with panic attacks at night and it’s horrible. Palpitations used to be the worst. Now it’s any pain in my neck or head. That will send my anxiety straight to a full blown panic attack. My therapist is helping me and I’m slowly getting better. I’m now accepting and trying to be friends with my anxiety. Ya who would have thought?! But it makes a lot of sense.

Sometimes it's good to use your anxiety to address your existing health issues. Fatty liver, GERD and diabetes can all be eliminated or at least greatly reduced by lifestyle changes.

"just because you think it doesn't mean it's true"!! WOW WOW WOW! I never thought of it like that. It's so so simple but true!! You definitely are meant to do what your doing!

Very helpful-Objective Symptoms make sense- I have Health Anxiety and have had for over 2 decades- my Mother recently told me I was anxious as a kid. I stopped looking up symptoms a long time ago- it always set me down a rabbit hole of high depression and fear.

Do you have recommendations for someone who had Covid and is still struggling with lingering symptoms/health anxiety related to those symptoms?

I have this issue with taking medication, and other stuff. My issues are mostly caused by chronic illness, and exacerbated my mental
Illness. I was ignored for a while and no one took me seriously. I was finally diagnosed with EDS after years of tests.

This is what I developed when I went into menopause. I'm shocked about having to take blood pressure medication when I never had to take it. I'm so scared now about taking my blood pressure cos it's always high and I panic. I fear I will not be able to know what my real blood pressure is now. Any ideas how to deal with this.

This was a helpful video until you said knowing about the diseases you fear is a good idea. It is a very bad idea. It can create somatic symptom disorder.
