    Hey, I live in Kansas too! Love my goofy little Exocet. I was obsessed from the moment I first saw one. Much like bringing home an overlooked pet from the Humane Society, it was the perfect combination of grotesque and adorable for me to quickly decide I needed it in my life. (Also, I think more of my work colleagues have stopped to play with my Exocet than any other knife I've ever brought to work... it definitely has that "WTF factor")

    Out of the 8 different Microtechs I’ve owned , this was the only one that came faulty out of the box. It would not retract at all, even when I reset the spring. Sent it back to them and had it back in my hands 3 and a half weeks later. 😎 This was during the coof as well.

    I’m not an auto or OTF fan but that’s kind of cool. Boston and area have a 2.5” blade limit, no autos etc. I carry my MT Socom Elite (manual) and other big knives. All the stuff I got away with (well not all) when younger will probably come back and bite me. Some goofy rookie cop will notice my knife one day.

I gave this to my sister and gave the utx 70 to my lady, way too small for me . I like them 3.5 -4“ blade titaniums 👍. There’s something about how they feel and operate and look .

    The smallest knife in my collection is an old (I think1960s) FBR Italian side opening automatic. It has a three inch bayonet blade and a three inch stag handle. I won it on an auction for $33.51. It also still snaps open really well and has "out snapped" many other newer automatics. Yet I am so curious why it is so small. Did the mafia have smaller hands or is it a novelty item?

    • @Youtube-Censorship-Police

    The Exocet seems unreliable to me. I have one and I tested opening it against a piece of cardboard. It didn't open all the way, which is fine, I suppose that is the way the mechanism is. The problem is that now on certain but not too occasional occasions it fails to open or close reliably.

    • @Chris_In_Texas
      @Chris_In_Texas ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @raplopez4258 Just to let you know that is normal. Even my Combat Trodoon and Scarab II will not open against a piece of paper. That is the design and how they are supposed to work, which is perfectly normal operation. Its for safety. The single action OTF's will not stop when opening and will / could go through things, so you have to be very careful with those.

    • @horromantix
      @horromantix 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s hard to find an exact definition in the penal codes but it appears to not really have a limit. Absolutely no hidden knives such as lipstick knives or cane swords. No gravity knives or assisted or automatic or anything like that. However if the blade is under 2” it doesn’t qualify as a knife really. As far as folding manual knives go, if it is concealed and carried in the folded position there doesn’t seem to be a limit on length, although 4” might be a safe cut off if you want to be cautious. Fixed blades seem to be allowed be carried so long as they are sheathed and not concealed, but this might cause some issues depending where you are. These rules may vary depending on your county so if you wanna be sure I guess you can ask a cop. But that’s what the literature seems to say. Hope that helps

    • @KCKnives
      @KCKnives 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @metal_complex
      @metal_complex  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ya I was gonna say, they're 100% Microtech clones. Really obvious too. Glad to hear Microtech took action against them.
      Edit* Look at the breakers, clips, and handle profiles. Ugh. Literally hurts to see such blatant copies. Also... they literally used imitation tri wing screws on a few models. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

    • @dido2881
      @dido2881 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t know about the past. The line they have now is totally different. I can’t see how someone can be confused. Other brand which are mostly undefined totally try to trick people into believing they got a deal for a real one. I’ve seen some on Aliexpress. And that is a scam.

    • @KCKnives
      @KCKnives 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dido2881 I think you’re misunderstanding what we are explaining, they aren’t exact replicas, they don’t use Microtech logos, but Cobratec is very prone to stealing Microtech designs and slightly changing them just to make them “original”. It’s very low effort and just lazy. Just take a look at this link. They came out with this knife, after the Exocet’s debut at blade show. It’s a replicated design of our Exocet. That’s what we mean by a knock off, it’s not a counterfeit per say, but it is an attempt to take one of our designs and make it their own.
      cobratecknives.com/collections/all/products/otf-money-clip

    • @dido2881
      @dido2881 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Looking at this knife in particular I see what you mean. The differences are lesser at first sight. My thinking is however this: are this differences enough to raise a legal claim? If they are not, by definition there’s no crime. The “imitator” may be lazy like you said, and lacking fantasy, but no patented design has been violated. I understand that that hit a nerve, though. I’ve noticed many time with fashion products (knives, fountains pens, watches, bags etc.) that those who buy the “wannabe” items don’t consider them as substitutes of the target one. These people belong to a different segment of the market. Actually, the very touching of the object often produce the further effort to buy the good one. So, there are no damages to the imitated business, but if anything new customers. Therefore the thing remains victimless. Except for the ego. Unless, of course, the opposite can be proved. I’m aware that my view is not that common. Mainly because the free market as intended by Adam Smith or by Ayn Rand has never been applied. Anywhere. And, being myself from a lousy socialist country I’m particularly sensitive to any barrier and limitation that only ends up favoring cronyism. The private law offers the protection everyone needs. The problem might be the system who implements the law. But the principles are there, and have been for a very long time. The law here is derived from the Romans, as you know. While we stupid Italians got it from Napoleon!
