God, the original Blinx was such an underappreciated gem. This theme is really a great example of how despite its cute and cartoonish exterior, there was a huge threat and an entire world at stake. I really hope that Microsoft or someone can get the copyright and give Blinx the attention and care it deserved. The time control mechanic was a beast.

Frustrating childhood moment: Exiting out of the shop to fight the final boss at a later date...only to find out that you then have to fight all four of the previous bosses *AGAIN* because you exited out.
Blinx was groomed to be the mascot from the start, and you're right in that Master Chief took his place. Kinda lame, but Halo was basically the Xbox's savior.

Me too!! They did it so perfectly. It starts out really intimidating and even a little creepy, but once you start to get through it, the music gets more upbeat!
It even gets desperate way at the end as the boss is making one final run at it (and holy hell that one can be hard to beat sometimes... I've had to use anywhere between 0 and all 9 retries to finally get him on different runs).

I like how the first half of the song is like the boss being like "lol you have no chance" and then at 5:10 Blinx is like "Oh, really?" and the music shows the scale tipping his way. Then periodically Blinx keeps getting closer until the end and the boss is like "SSSSHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIiiiiiiiiii......."
I don’t know If anybody still coming to watch this video, but if you do. I think Blinx flopped because when I look at the comments in videos of this boss, at least.... IDK 60% couldn’t beat him, so obviously, if you can’t end the first game, you won’t get the second one. The game was good as hell, the only thing where they failed is that they thought making it harder, would’ve make it better. That’s why in Blinx 2 they tell you every single thing to do.
I kinda hated that in part 2 imo mainly because it just handholding everytime. Still loved both games altho kinda sad u cant play as blinx but least it's nice to make one of him and playing as the villains too

I think Blinx should have been the Xbox mascot. This is one of my all time favorite games: it is challenging, fun, cute, creative, and has beautifully made stages and music. What more could a gamer ask for? n_n
Blinx and Shadow the Hedgehog both should have been alongside John 117 as a team of Xbox mascots if you ask me. Two with cool guns and/or godlike power and one with a groovy Hoover on steroids and godlike power.

This final boss is one of the most epic I've seen in any game I've played. There's just so many layers to how tricky this ass is to beat, especially cause each stage has completely new ways to redefine the game you have to play against him (run, avoid, attack, dodge, outsmart, outmaneouvre) - every instance is basically a completely different boss speaking in classic video game boss standards. God I love this game - so much depth. P.S. Don't ask me how fekking long it took me to finally beat this thing, no less somehow figure out *how* to even beat this thing. Dang. P.P.S. And then sometimes there's those runs where suddenly I keep getting my ass handed to me by the Fish Boss or the Frog for no reason... frustration kicking in I guess haah.
Tips: 1) Stock up on pauses and gold before attempting the fight 2) You can "Restart Stage" in the pause menu before the game over screen comes up, allowing you to continue the current fight instead of having to start over 3) Save your pauses for the ice boss and the forge boss during the rush. Don't save any for this dude, he takes all your remaining controls at the start 4) Saved up gold beforehand? Good. Fill your hearts up and fill your sweeper with spiked balls to make this fight easier.
If I ruled the world, I'd make Microsoft remaster and re-release Blinx for the 360 & 720. It deserves as much, seeing as it was one of the very first Xbox games ever made... And I'm sure people now would be interested in it. I just think it was ahead of its time.
I once made a bet to my cousin that i can beat this boss without dying once and i can do it less then 5 min. And i was only 10 and he was 6. I blew his mind when i did and to this day i never let it down cause he cant do it XD
The final boss took me me a few weeks of practice, but i beat him. I need to focus the first few minutes getting the time crystals first, as i only need one a set. I would get the 3 match and the heart as it was the usless one. Once i got all sets i hammered him down Until i used the time controls. Keep a distance and when hes the final weak form, just dodge and bomb him. The hard part was the double boss as u need to be fast and they can be either close or far apart. Keep in the middle of the distance and when they start dropping bombs just shoot and switch immediately
Honestly, whenever his armour broke, and all that was left was the giant Gate Keeper (Time Keeper?) he'd always wipe out all my retrys before I managed to win.
You gotta be really quick before he turns around, which is not that hard actually,. The problem for me always was, I either shot at him and missed, or I would hit him, but I was too close to the explosion, and lost a retry.
The trick to this (sorry for the major necro) is to time it out so that you are about a little bit past halfway across the arena when he enters this phase. Then when he misses you the first time cuz of the distance you gained, get ready for the most stressful midair shot of your life, because you only have a split second to line it up. You may have to line it up mid jump even. But yea the distance from him when you enter that phase matters a lot.
Yeah. It had a lot of support leading up to the game's release, but when it didn't do as well as they had hoped they just abandoned it. I /really/ wish it was out on PS3, I really liked it even though I never actually owned an Xbox.
ALSO, that stupid "tick tack" in the music maked this battle more epic (And it gave me the feel of totally DESPAIR in every single second of the level. XDu)

Though I love the difficulty and tension of this boss fight, there were some flaws in terms of game design, when I look back at this years later. First off, doing a boss rush of four previous bosses was fine, until you realize, you have to start the boss rush....ALL OVER AGAIN when you fail! Even in 2002, this was a horribly outdated game mechanic, a harsh penalty system comparable to the NES days. Not as bad as those where you have to start the ENTIRE game all over again, but still unnecessarily frustrating. Maybe, only being forced to face the previous boss would've been better. It still would've been difficult and added more satisfaction in the victory. Or just restarting the individual boss fight. However, you could restart on your current fight on the pause screen when you're about to lose . Second, unavoidable damage. There were times when the Time Golem would pause with time crystals, and you couldn't avoid his attacks no matter what. You're frozen in place, helpless, and you can only wait for him to go up and attack you. This is terrible for a "no-damage" run of the game. Games need to be beaten with skill, not luck. Freedom Planet has better difficult boss fights. In that game, when you lose against a tough foe, it's not because of unfair unavoidable damage, or poor controls, no it's because you sucked. That's what a good boss fight design is. And third, the health system was the worst in this game. Not just the final boss, the whole game in general. I hated being hurt and going through an annoying rewind. I brought this up because, it's at its worst in the true final battle. Occasionally, there was a horrible glitch where you were knocked off the arena and the rewind health system would try to send you back up to the battlefield, only it fails to do so, and you fall off AGAIN....and again...and again! So you're stuck in this loop until you lose all your health and game over. That's all.
I've dodged his pause attack plenty of times, you jump just as he activated the control and all the shockwaves go under you, When he's coming at you for his chip though, yeah, Also, his lighting tri burst when I'm slowed always hits me
I don't know if you still read these comments but. The soundtrack at the end of every level after you jump into the end portal. I think its the same in all worlds and I was wondering if you could post that.

LionardoTheBest Hallary you know, it took me hours to beat him. I was 15 at the time (23 now). if I remember correctly, he's impervious to all times EXCEPT the environment or arena. Not to mention he has pauses and rewinds drop all the time. You seriously need to read his moves no matter how many times you die. also I beat him with my standard sweeper, so it's definitely a boss match of wits. Guides won't help you, I know, I tried. I got the damn game when I was seven (2001) lol

I just beat Blinx a few minutes ago. It was quite tough. Surprisingly enough, I did get the hang of the final boss pretty quickly.

I never seemed to be able to get to this guys final stage with more than 2 or so Hearts, and I'd always die because he charged waaay to fast for me.
Get all 9 retry slots, and when you are taken to the shop right before you fight this guy, restock your retries and get 10 spike bombs. :D

I don't know if you still read these comments but. The soundtrack at the end of every level after you jump into the end portal. I think its the same in all worlds and I was wondering if you could post that.

btw in the begining of blinx, the begining of this song p;lays in the time factory when the time monsters begin to take over and when blinx jumps into the portal to go to the time monster attked world. WOW long description.

That freaking final boss.... That time monster.. No... That Demon of time wasnt a boss, he was THE BOSS. Its the only one final boss i had never defeated. Until to day im sad, because i have lost my copy of the game and ill be never able to give it a try again. / Sorry 4 my bad english.

LionardoTheBest Hallary you know, it took me hours to beat him. I was 15 at the time (23 now). if I remember correctly, he's impervious to all times EXCEPT the environment or arena. Not to mention he has pauses and rewinds drop all the time. You seriously need to read his moves no matter how many times you die. also I beat him with my standard sweeper, so it's definitely a boss match of wits. Guides won't help you, I know, I tried. I got the damn game when I was seven (2001) lol
