I would imagine a tremendous amount. Which is funny cause there's a lot of haters on the internet. I hate Gibson (the company) but I love Slash and Les Paul.
@@TempoDrift1480 But Gibson is Les Paul and Les Paul is Gibson. That's like saying you hate Porsche but you love driving a 911. Masks no sense. If you hate Gibson why do you support them by buying and playing their guitars?
Go to the Gibson Slash site then click on dealers in your area and then contact them. Each dealer is getting 3 guitars but be quick the ones I contacted last week were mostly sold out
I love Gibson Les Pauls and Seymour Duncan pickups, but I dropped Ernie Ball strings a long time ago. I actually used to go back and forth between Ernie Ball and GHS, but then I discovered Elixir Polyweb strings, and I never looked back. Those strings last forever and never corrode. Other brands wear out too quickly and break too often. The Elixirs not only last a very long time, but they have a smooth, slinky feel and produce such a massive tone.
you know, listening to slash's music is very relazing in a way, makes you feel at ease with the voice. but watching slash himself...man, it's weird, its like holding on to an electric wire or something, not quite pleasurable, not quite annoying, but more... in-you-face.special man, special man.
How much are you looking to spend? If you're looking to buy a new guitar, and are somewhat familiar with what to look for, what your playing styles are, what you would like to play, and things of that nature, I would thoroughly recommend broadening your horizons (so to say), and look at other options, aside from Epiphone.
(continued) I strongly recommend taking it in to a luthier to get your action set up for your strings because it will help to prevent neck damage. Also, once you get your guitar properly set up, you will notice a fairly large increase in how long your notes sustain, as well as how much more smoothly your guitar will play.
Slash is known for improvisation, so you'd never see him learning somone else's solo note for note. I supose he used the Mockingbird for the option of the floyd rose, not necessarily use it, but to just have the possibilty. Plus the Mockingbird would be easier for pinch harmonics and tapping as opposed to the Les Paul, so they could be other reasons why he didn't opt for the Les
mine is good i tune to things like drop b and a# and stuff and well yea its all good it stays in tune for weeks at a time so yeah i dont know wat kind of epi u been playing but the ones ive played are all good
@ebv1998 Nobody sells 1959 Les Pauls. An actual '59 in good condition is worth $750,000. Slash doesn't play one either. He has some earlier LP's but he deals alot with new prototypes made for him by Gibson. During live performances he uses mainly 2010 and 2011 AFD Les Pauls.
@MrGuitardude420 Na I like my power slinkys, I was just stating that 11's-46's arn't a heavy gauge string. Plus Ernie Ball strings are better then dunlop :P haha
when he said " then they asked if they could do an inspired by which is identical to the 88 guitar...etc...."....uhrm....this would be the 2nd guitar the make...the gold top being the 3rd and last....but which guitar is he talking about....thats the one i want....
if you want tone to get anywhere from ac/dc to slash's tone (which i think is way to harsh on the top end) to lamb of god to soft jazz check into mesa/boogie. i own a mark IV and i can get his tone easy.
(continued again) Even though, when you get the guitar (assuming you buy it new), it will not be set up as well as it could be. It is worth the price you will pay the luthier to set up your action. I recommend taking your guitar in to a luthier atleast once a year, for a check up on the action, as well as the electronics in your guitar. Sorry for the long posts.
Wrong again. A guitar setup is subjective. I've taken my guitars to Luthers and none of them can set my guitars up the way I want it unless I do it. Why? Because it's so personal. So you cannot say that a guitar has a specific setup that it has to be set up to in order for it to play right. It's all about how you play, what strings you use, what pick you use, are you a heavy picker, a riff guy, a lead guy, do you have a light touch etc.
i axually played both models, and there is a distinctive diffrence..... the overall feel was very comfartable on the epiphone but on the gibson was just butter my fingers were just gliding.... and the body was just u know much more ummm rounder? i guess on the gibson...
would people think i was copying if i used gibson les pauls aswell because rock music is my life and i really want to do it as a living and slash is my favorite guitarist im 14 and id love to be a rock god like slash but i use gibson les pauls and marshalls that wouldnt be coppying wold it plz reply someone ? :)
the epiphone elitists are very great guitars. i like them better than a lot of gibsons. they are a lot more cash than most epiphones, but well worth it.
Fair enough Duff, I seen Ted Nugent last year and he uses a Peavy and he had alot of slash sounding licks with his now that I remember. I know from trying every amp in the music store its not the easiest to duplicate. I do a lot of GNR covers. May I ask what kind of pick ups you use?
i use both if i want an epic solo i use a les paul if i want a fancy, and speedy solo i use a strat. for some reason i can play faster with my strat i don't know.
@thejakeludwig they r special goldtops made only for slash with his specifications... I dont believe u that u hav THOSE 2 maybe u ust hav a simple goldtop u need to check that... and even the simple sounds awesome i hav tried it...
No. Gibsons & Epiphones come with stock Gibson strings. You can buy Ernie Ball strings at Guitar Center or your local music shop, and they retail for about 5 dollars. Also, make sure you get the correct size strings. Slash plays Ernie Ball 11-46 strings, but standard string size is 9-42, so you will need to have your guitar set-up for a larger string size, should you choose to play larger strings. If you have further questions, feel free to PM me.
ur wrong. epiphone is more sloppy done inn all ways. i have played alot on a epiphone and i own a gibson, and its a huge difference. but epiphone is less overprized then gibson
@DocBrewster Just personal preference, if you kept with heavier strings, your fingers would toughen up and they'd stop hurting. I usually use 9's, but 11's or even 12's are alright.
He also said that the Goldtop re-issue he asked Gibson to make for him to replace the one that was stolen, the tone can be turned all the way down - bottomed out- without affecting volume. Which is nice. I just dont like goldtop color scheme. Personal preference.
bro you can get slash's tone with my peavy amp not exactly to the spot but it sounds like it ive heard alot of great amps that sounds like slash's with the right settings
Number one, is your guitar set up for 10s? If not, you definitely want to take it to a luthier or you could cause damage to the neck (later on down the road). Take it to the luthier, and have him set it up for your string size. If it's already set up for 10s, and you're looking to go to larger strings, you will want to take it to the luthier to get set up for whichever size you choose.
@TheAerosmith3 He used 13s most of the time, though at one point, he strung his guitar with 0.018s, he said 'It was crazy! But it made me play simpler' A friend of mine, named Jeff, met him, and Jeff said that when he went to shake Stevie's hand, Jeff said his shake was like a vise grip from the big strings. Although he did always play tuned a half step down............... I'm a fan.
You ask the shop to make an account for you and reserve the guitar you will have to deposite(50 like me or more)good luck BTW i have that goldtop guitar and line 6 all-tube amp and i managed to get EXACTLY slash's tone with it! I realy encorange you to buy it its cheaper than the cheapest MARSHALL all tube amp its maybe 40w but you can gig 5000 pepole or more with it
@soothslayer21 It's not just to do with the top string. I could put an 8 on the top and then heavy gauge strings on the b g d a E strings and it would still be a heavy gauge set. Theres no set rule for whats a heavy set of strings and whats not. Power Slinkys start off with an 11 and end up with a 48. An 11 is heavy but a 48 is light for a bottom E string. There for 11-48 is a medium-ish gauge set.
I dont like epiphones very much. I have an epiphone g-400 custom (or something like that) and a Gibson SG Standard and there are major tonal differences. The gibson sounds very smooth and has a nice purr and the epiphone always sounds out of tune. Feel-wise the epiphone is very neck heavy and doesn't balance at all. I also think that the colours aren't as vibrant on epiphones as they are on Gibsons. It is just my opinion but I don't think epiphone can compare to gibson.
I think that the biggest difference is just the price but it has alot of little things... Like: Materials that they use in gibson are more expensive, people who have made the guitar... someworkers cost more that others... like chinese are cheap and americans are alot more expensive workers... but the materials like wood and some metal parts and other parts... My epiphone sounds just the same than a real les paul and thats good... so thx epiphone...
Check Ernie ball's page ... it say slash uses custom gauge 11 - 48
Watching it in 2021
I wonder how many sales Gibons owes to Slash.
Probably 50% lol
I would imagine a tremendous amount. Which is funny cause there's a lot of haters on the internet. I hate Gibson (the company) but I love Slash and Les Paul.
The reason I play les Paul’s
@@TempoDrift1480 But Gibson is Les Paul and Les Paul is Gibson. That's like saying you hate Porsche but you love driving a 911. Masks no sense. If you hate Gibson why do you support them by buying and playing their guitars?

6672rock Elixers are the bomb for acoustic. Ain't never tried the electric strings yet.

'A thin neck' ???? To my knowledge Slash signatures have a chunky 50's style neck. Mine sure does
Perhaps he meant the fretboard width across. It’s smaller than a fender
Yeah that makes me wonder too. I've been in the market for a Les Paul but I want that '50's neck.
I have just put down a deposit on the Gibson Gold top, should get it mid October cant wait
Well, fifteen years later... how did it work out? lol
How much are you looking to spend?

@ebv1998 Btw, everything your seeing is a '59 REISSUE. Those can be somewhat affordable, hence why people have them, not just rock stars.
Shoutout to Memphis Guitars
i will get the epiphone and earnie ball.
really nice slash.
nice i was thinking af buying a epiphone les paul custom (3 pickups) and puuting duncans on all 3 of them but i had enough to buy the slash sig
i have a slash signature goldtop (epiphone)and i have a peavey transtube 258 efx amp
5:25 Finally!! I know how he does it! God, thank you for revealing me! Now I can play them just like you! :))
tab plissssssssssss

Never heard more nonsense than this. there's no right string gauge for any given action. You're full of it man.
I love this guy...

yeah i got a goldtop too but i have a peavey transtube amp and i can get the same tone too its awesome lol

@1298da Actually, it goes like this
8's = Extra Light
9's = Light
10's = Average
11's = Heavy
12's = Extra Heavy
well on guitar center they have 11-48 which is prob the closest they have to a 11-46
ps slash said their custom made so i guess its made only for him
strings: ernie ball rps 11 gauge
picks: dunlop tortex 1.14mm
Slash is really so down to earth. A real relaxed rock star!
2018?
Guitar Center Northridge. (it says the info.)
when he said " then they asked if they could do an inspired by which is identical to the 88 guitar...etc...."....uhrm....this would be the 2nd guitar the make...the gold top being the 3rd and last....but which guitar is he talking about....thats the one i want....
@1298da If your looking for heavy gauge strings, you should go with Dunlop Heavy Core bro! Rock on.
if you want tone to get anywhere from ac/dc to slash's tone (which i think is way to harsh on the top end) to lamb of god to soft jazz check into mesa/boogie. i own a mark IV and i can get his tone easy.
yessss. i was the same way. he has a unique sound that nobody else can do.
cant wait for his solo album gonna be the best album ever

@soothslayer21 supposedly SRV played on 13s sometimes
11's-46's arnt a heavy gauge string. power slinkys are 11-48 and only about a middle gauge string set
cool i got ernie ball strings today in x-music
Thats cool,
I use a Jay Turser Les Paul copy solid body with Slashs Seymore Duncan Alnico 2 pro humbuckers and the tone is crazy and warm I love it.
is he using RPS-11 Slinky Nickel Wound or Power Slinky Nickel Wound im confused ...
I LOVE PLAYING THE GUITAR AND LOVE THE LES PAUL GUITARS!!!!!!!
What amp does he use in this interview?
a deposit on it?how does that work cuz i wanna do that too?
@RockIsntPollution for the floyd rose. The solo uses the floyd rose, so i guess he couldnt use th les paul for it
Slash burped at 7:56..lol
@guitarwiz5 lucky!!! how expansive r they?
@themthrashinkids skinny top heavy bottom is 10 - 52 , 10 13 17 32 42 52. i have them too
''Fuck You In Dont Care!''
BEST VIDEO OF SLASH!
Marshall Vintage Modern head
Slash is my idol and the best guitar player on earth if you ask me! And what's up with the guy intervjuing? He's all red in his face and sweat!
please i would say that type of strings used, and the thickness of the same, thanks
that guitar is amazing!

@DocBrewster Maybe it's because he tunes a half step down?
Dude S.I.T strings are freaking awesome man
i use 11-54 gauge
the epiphone has the same hardware and pickups. But it has a different wood
Yeah I've used 12's-52's (Skinny Top Heavy Bottom) the whole time I've played.
@Sholda1 Exactly haha
Slash is Amazing!
had to put his name in there
ur wrong. epiphone is more sloppy done inn all ways. i have played alot on a epiphone and i own a gibson, and its a huge difference. but epiphone is less overprized then gibson

What’s the amp in the background at 1:25
Dylan Luna probably jcm 800
marshall vintage modern 2266 (sorry if theres some trouble with the comments :) )
is that the only difference, or are there more?
oh ya
bro you can get slash's tone with my peavy amp not exactly to the spot but it sounds like it ive heard alot of great amps that sounds like slash's with the right settings

hell yeah

it is 11-48
cause he likes to play other guitars apart from les pauls lol, also the mockingbird has a floyd rose on it and he needs that for the solo
yeaaaa 200th rating
@Sholda1 o couldn't agree more
@TheAerosmith3 He used 13s most of the time, though at one point, he strung his guitar with 0.018s, he said 'It was crazy! what is the amp behind him ???
Vintage modern 2466

man he must have strong fingers - even 10s cut my fingers after an hour or two - 9's are fine but how can he use 11s for hours on end?
Yepp he didnt play on gibson from the first time, ED ROMAN told it, that someone built him that guitar.
