I got the 1 tb OLED model. One of… if not the best piece of gaming tech I’ve ever purchased. I have a monster PC to play the really hard hitting demanding titles. This thing, though, has enabled me to go back and knock out some of that backlog of games. I also have a newborn baby and the ability to be able to put this thing to sleep real quick and pick right back up where I left off without a single hiccup is impossible to articulate the value. Until windows handheld can do something comparable, there is no way that I could possibly compare the two.
I had the 64GB LCD model and loved it. When the OLED came out, I got the 1TB and sold my old one to a friend. The colors are amazing out of the box and I really appreciate the extra battery life and 90Hz screen 🤌🤌. Well worth the money for me!
The oled made certain games I didn’t like playing on the LCD version better. God of War, Spider Man, and even Helldivers was decently playable. I highly recommend it. The touch pads feel better, and it just feels improved after coming from the LCD.😂
I'm not surprised that the PS4 had issues with Cyberpunk. The CPU was a massive issue for developers because it was so slow. It was also a 7 year old GPU by the time Cyberpunk had released and the Deck released in 2022.
Steamdeck doesn't pretend to be anything else it is an honest handheld. Sure, other windows handhelds have more performance, but if you can get past that and realise that more performance isn't everything, then it is a lot easier to respect the steamdeck oled for what it really is. It's the og of the handhelds and can flex itself as a near perfect handheld.
My 3 observations after playing on SD OLED for a month and comparing it to my experience with original LCD model. It has obiously better screen(OLED vs poor sRGB 71% on SD LCD), greater battery life - easy to get 1 more hour on AAA games without any settings tweak and also quiet fans - they do not disturb you while playing and on LCD they were really annoyingly loud.
@@alasmi1568 usually 3 hours but it heavily depends on the game. Oled screen is using less power so it’s helpful to get this time plus it has bigger stock battery than lcd one.
Literally the only sound I have ever heard from the system fan in over 7 months of near-constant use, is the quiet "clunk" sound it makes sometimes when starting up, then not even the slightest noise afterwards.
I sold an LCD for an ROG Ally and I'm tempted to come back. I wish the Deck had more performance, because Windows on a handheld is doodoo. The Deck isn't perfect but there's a LOT to be said for things mostly just working (even though some things don't work at all but hey)

And just today my new Deck OLED came in and man I missed the Steam Deck. It really is such a different beast. It truly feels more like a console versus just a handheld computer. Definitely missed it
I’ve always loved the Deck but eventually left for the Legion Go for the bigger screen and Z1 Extreme. I felt my Microwave Oven had a faster processor than my Deck!! I will come back though when they release a model with some power

I usually play my games docked anyway. The key difference here in this upgrade vs the Switch OLED is the Switch OLED's docked experience would just provide me with 2 additional joycons to use, whereas the deck oled has more software features, like it let's me wakeup the console from across the room, COMPLIMENTING a docked experience! This is what a tech refresh should be!!! Wish phone companies were this cool with their midgen models 😂 good video! Your camera quality is very good 👍
My LCD model just broke, and it’s out of warranty. It’s a total bummer. I feel like I’m going through Deck withdrawals. I have sent it in for repair, but I’m looking at maybe buying an OLED and either selling the LCD after having it repaired or giving it to my kids. The OLED uniquely fits my use case as I usually play my games in my truck at work in between tasks, and a brighter screen would definitely help me see things in the bright outdoors.
Hi i have a question, I made a steam acount on my phone and will buy some games on it Is it possible to sign in to the account on pc and have all the games?
When the oled got announced not 3 days latter my lcd had a big issue and valve had to send me a brand new one so that is what gave me the green light to get the oled because now i didnt have to sell it as used but as brand new. with that being said I love my oled WAY more then the lcd and i play it way more. the weight loss even though small it made it so it didnt hurt my wrist in 15 minutes but instead 2 3 hours. the battery is amazing, and it was amazing going from a 64 gb to a tb. 100% worth the extra price for me. my 64 gb was filled with shaders and it was vary annoying.
It’s called “midnight fight express” and it’s cool as hell! I did some internet sleuthing and found it, so glad I can pass it on. Highly recommend if you enjoy the beat-em-up genre.

Really sad I got a faulty brand new unit because I got one of the original instead of a real brand new one.
@gmodesike I hope it's just a matter of the Oled doing darker colors better than the LCD. After all, a dark horror game will always look darker than an LCD in low light conditions, regardless of brightness settings.
My friend has an OLED, I HAVE the LCD. I honestly can't really notice a difference in image quality that much. The OLED is a little bit better colors, but I don't think it warrants an upgrade to OLED for me. I'll stick with LCD
It really doesn't matter. It's actually a downgrade for the time being since you can't dualboot windows on a Steam Deck OLED due to valve not making half of the drivers it requires to function. You'd have to go online (on a different operating system mind you, no wifi drivers for OLED) and download some sketchy drivers that may work or may damage your system.
My main problem with handhelds: I'd rather play my AAA's with maximum graphics on a big screen, and the indies that DO play on them are...well, I'd rather spend my short free gaming time on something better.
