Batista was not well liked in the Smackdown locker room. Eddie took him under his wing and made sure he was respected by the roster. I don’t think he was ever the same after that.

Batista probably only got to know Eddie for a short while. A few months after he was moved to SmackDown. And for him to be hit that hard and that emotionally over his death just goes to show the kind of man Eddie was. The kind of impact he had on people's lives and hearts.
RIP Eddie. We love and miss you.

Seeing Benoit's reaction was...I don't even know how to best describe it. A guy presented as a fairly emotionless wrestling machine breaking down like that....well it was jarring to say the least.
Probably the only other reaction that hit me anywhere near as much was Jeff Jarrett in tears over Owen Hart's death. Jarrett had never been presented as likeable, empathic or anything similar and there he was, with the most human of reactions.

@@CoryHeadquarters it's more than that. Benoit's father donated Chris' brain to a university for study and they actually found his brain was essentially that of an 80 year old man with alzheimers. Years of drugs and serious head injuries lead to Chris having a bad form of CTE. The two part Dark Side of the Ring elusive from Vice actually has a really good info dump on a lot of things about Benoits life and many things he had gone through before this tragic incident.

I was 16 at the time and I’ll never forget when I saw the headlines on tv the night he died. I had no words I was just at a loss for words. I didn’t even wanna talk about it at school the next day. All I could think about was how? Why? And what his family must be going through. Only thing I remember about that day is after I got home and I was waiting for Raw to come on and to see the Tribute Show in Eddie’s honor. I couldn’t stop crying the whole night. But at the same time i enjoyed the show even though I didn’t really care who won cuz it was all about Eddie. It was beautiful to see heels and faces were able to put aside rivalry’s and what to not to show the fans how much Eddie was loved. To this very day I still can’t believe he’s gone. But I know he’s in a much better place with no pain or suffering. RIP EDDIE
